It's a short book of a few poems that I decided to share with the world. If for some reason that explanation is not adequate enough, well, here you go: One cold and stormy and cliché night, after I had written poems for several years or so, I furiously flung them into a fireplace in a fretful, angst-ridden rage. No fire family brigade was at hand to try to rescue them, either. I stood by the fiery flames of that fire, a bottle of rum in one hand and empty in the other, laughing and weeping maniacally until the sun came up. Quite unexpectedly, a few of the poems survived. How they did it is still a mystery. But I felt that there was meaning as to why they endured their peril. That they were not to be used as mere characters in a facetious and farcical book description, but that they had a purpose, something to live for and to share with others. And I knew, deep in my wretched soul, that they had to be handled with the love and care that only an honest and true poet could muster… So I jammed the suckers together into a little book and slapped a cheap price tag on it, just for ya’ll! The poetry you'll find here is mercurial. It’ll switch from a joyful love poem and witty three-liner to a depressing poem about guilt and death and all that nasty stuff. It’s the only way for the collection to be authentic, as I, myself, am a rather mercurial person. Heavy, silvery, 88. You know. And despite being a privileged, middle-class, Colorado raised spoiled brat, I’ve had a rather tough life. Beyond even my ADHD and anxiety disorders and depression that I'm going to shamelessly exploit, you'll find some twisted stuff here. Both receiving and aggrieving. Several suicide attempts. A noxious and loathsome attitude towards life. Of course, coarse language and pretentious puns. And, best of all, a rotten rap sheet of heinous behavior. It’s all par for the course for a contrite and sullen writing style like mine. But don't worry, if you were at all worried. You will find some nice stuff too. You'll find a person who is full of wonder and hope and love. Someone with a big heart, who sees the complex and best in people. Someone who actively questions the crowd to find authenticity and true answers. Someone who tries to be facetious just to lighten the mood of the world a bit. Someone who has stood up for what he believes in and helped those in need. Someone who disgustingly strokes their own ego all the time. Which is, essentially, the stuff that makes poetry. Which makes sense. Because this is a collection of poems. And that’s all it really is. So, there you go. A vague yet adequate description of this book and its author. One that either entices you to read the book… or repels you far away. For those of you who buy this, I deeply appreciate you doing so. And for those of you who somehow, by some miracle, enjoy even a fraction of these poems, please share that love with others so they can enjoy it too. Thanks.
