Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible, the Kaballah, the Vedas, and ancient cuneiform tablets, torn from their hiding places in the heart of Mother Nature, all hold the key to the wisdom of the ages ; and some there are who have turned the key and the door to understanding has opened. The author of this work has found the key and he has turned it. Erect and unafraid for he has nothing to lose or gain he reverently offers you that which you are seeking. He does not claim to be the only one who has discovered the key, but, working along the lines hinted at by some modern and many ancient seekers, he hereby presents the results of his many years of scientific research. He shows that the correct translations of the Greek and Hebrew scriptures plainly state that all the allegories and fables of these works refer to actual physiological facts; and the statements "Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all things shall be added unto you"; "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you", and "Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect" can be physiologically and chemically explained.

Book excerpt: The human body is a biological machine made of body systems; groups of organs that work together to produce and sustain life. Sometimes we get lost while studying about cells and molecules and can’t see the forest for the trees. It can be helpful to step back and look at the bigger anatomical picture. The human body is a complex, highly organized structure made up of unique cells that work together to accomplish the specific functions necessary for sustaining life. The biology of the human body includes Physiology (how the body functions) Anatomy (how the body is structured) Anatomy is organized by levels, from the smallest components of cells to the largest organs and their relationships to other organs. Gross anatomy is the study of the body's organs as seen with the naked eye during visual inspection and when the body is cut open for examination (dissection). Cellular anatomy is the study of cells and their components, which can be observed only with the use of special techniques and special instruments such as microscopes. Molecular anatomy (often called molecular biology) is the study of the smallest components of cells at the biochemical level. The human body is a complex and intricate piece of engineering in which every structure plays a precise role. There are approximately 200 bones, 650 muscles, 79 organs, and enough blood vessels to circle the Earth twice! Anatomy and physiology change remarkably between fertilization and birth. After birth, the rate of anatomic and physiologic changes slows, but childhood is still a time of remarkable growth and development. Some anatomic changes occur past adulthood, but the physiologic changes in the body's cells and organs are what contribute most to what we experience as aging Our bodies consist of a number of biological systems that carry out specific functions necessary for everyday living. The job of the circulatory system is to move blood, nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and hormones, around the body. It consists of the heart, blood, blood vessels, arteries and veins. The digestive system consists of a series of connected organs that together, allow the body to break down and absorb food, and remove waste. It includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. The liver and pancreas also play a role in the digestive system because they produce digestive juices. The endocrine system consists of eight major glands that secrete hormones into the blood. These hormones, in turn, travel to different tissues and regulate various bodily functions, such as metabolism, growth and sexual function. The immune system is the body's defense against bacteria, viruses and other pathogens that may be harmful. It includes lymph nodes, the spleen, bone marrow, lymphocytes (including B-cells and T-cells), the thymus and leukocytes, which are white blood cells. The lymphatic system includes lymph nodes, lymph ducts and lymph vessels, and also plays a role in the body's defenses. Its main job is to make is to make and move lymph, a clear fluid that contains white blood cells, which help the body fight infection. The lymphatic system also removes excess lymph fluid from bodily tissues, and returns it to the blood.

Book The Wonders of the Human Body

Download or read book The Wonders of the Human Body written by George Carey and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-03-09 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the foreword: "June 1st, 1917, Dr. Carey published the Tree of Life, a book on the marvels of the human body and physical regeneration as taught in Greek and Hebrew texts, from which the English Bible was translated. The book aroused such intense interest that the edition was virtually sold out in less than a year. The Wonders of the Human Body may be termed "an enlarged edition of the Tree of Life," containing more than double the amount of information. Many more Bible witnesses have been called to the stand, than were heard in the Tree of Life, to testify to the truths of Scripture and to indubitably prove that the Greek and Hebrew writings were based in the truths of chemistry and physiology. This book was not compiled for the purpose of antagonizing so-called Christians. It was written to prove the truths of the fables, parables and splendid allegories, such as the book of Job and Revelations, with a firm faith that truth will triumph and at last lead the world to Peace."

Book excerpt: Science is developing more and more potential for human beings to enhance themselves. The pace of change is rapid, and some people are already warning that we are heading for a post-human future populated by ever-lasting, self-sustaining intelligence systems into which the contents of a human mind have been poured... Is this true? In Enhancing Me, Pete Moore examines the ways in which technology can change our bodies, our brains, our emotions, and how long we live. He talks to people who have actually been 'enhanced' to find out what it's like and how beneficial it is; and to the experts to find out what the future holds - including a look at some of the more controversial, headline-grabbing claims. He also looks at what drives us to want to be 'superhuman', and the consequences for the individual and society alike: If you could live forever, would you want to? If you could download your mind onto a computer, would you still be you? Should we insert chips into our children, so we can track where they are? Should we force violent criminals to have mood-controlling brain implants? Would you want technology to improve your memory... or help you forget? If you've ever wondered - or worried - about the pace at which technology is progressing, then this book will give you an eye-opening glimpse of the future in this fascinating field. About the author Pete Moore has been a freelance science writer since 1993, and specialises in making 'academish' intelligible to people who only speak English! He has received seven national awards for his work, and has appeared on radio and television on 50 different occasions, discussing his books and related news events. He is a public speaker and a member of Toastmasters International; as well as a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a visiting lecturer in ethics at Trinity College Bristol, and a course tutor on the Science Communication MSc at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
