Book The Power of infinity

Download or read book The Power of infinity written by Anupkumar Shetty and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2022-07-28 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This semi-autobiography has been used to explain the science and logistics of living a cancer-free life. A sincere attempt has been made to bridge secular and spiritual life, the science of cancer, and the science of wellness. This book conveys different ways to beat cancer and prevent cancer by systematically attacking the cancer cells with an anti-cancer lifestyle. The book has five sections. The first and the fifth sections summarize the book for a busy reader. The second section is on fighting cancer as the last game of your life by comparing this battle to world cup finals of any sport you like by diligent, unfailing team building and intelligent, blissful execution. The third section is about the prevention of cancer. Cancer survivors have to prevent cancer to remain cancer free. All of us have to prevent cancer in our life to be cancer-free. This section is an amalgamation of the science of cancer, mathematics of cancer, an anticancer lifestyle, and appreciating and realizing the infinite power within us. It explains about surrounding the body with healthy five elements (earth, water, air, fire and space) as in healthy food, healthy liquids, healthy air, healthy level of stress, and healthy companions to heal from and prevent cancer. Tapping into the infinite strength within us which the author calls as ‘Infinity’ is a common thread through fighting cancer and preventing cancer. In the fourth section on a commoner experiencing infinity, various spiritual paths to unveil that infinity have been quoted as the different methods to experience it. By democratizing spirituality, the author stresses that we all have access to Infinity, God, or Brahman in this life without waiting for it to be an afterlife experience. Some universal, mostly non-denominational, contemporary, non-dualistic and potent Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist texts have been quoted to efficiently describe these methods. These are logical and contemporary and can be practiced by all citizens of this universe of all faiths and ethnicity including atheists.

Book excerpt: Thomas Altizer, one of America's premier theologians, searches for a proper understanding of the Christian God, which he believes can only be explicated when the question of origin is raised. He begins with an investigation of Hegelian thinking, develops his insights in dialogue with such thinkers as Augustine and Nietzsche, and then focuses on notions generated by the Christian epic poetry of Dante, Milton, and Blake. By explicating the absolute origin of God that only Christianity knows, Altizer discloses the origin of a uniquely Christian freedom while also touching upon such important themes as predestination, the fall, evil, and eternity.

Book Infinite Powers

  • Pages : 389 pages

Download or read book Infinite Powers written by Steven Strogatz and published by Eamon Dolan Books. This book was released on 2019 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From preeminent math personality and author of The Joy of x, a brilliant and endlessly appealing explanation of calculus - how it works and why it makes our lives immeasurably better. Without calculus, we wouldn't have cell phones, TV, GPS, or ultrasound. We wouldn't have unraveled DNA or discovered Neptune or figured out how to put 5,000 songs in your pocket. Though many of us were scared away from this essential, engrossing subject in high school and college, Steven Strogatz's brilliantly creative, down‑to‑earth history shows that calculus is not about complexity; it's about simplicity. It harnesses an unreal number--infinity--to tackle real‑world problems, breaking them down into easier ones and then reassembling the answers into solutions that feel miraculous. Infinite Powers recounts how calculus tantalized and thrilled its inventors, starting with its first glimmers in ancient Greece and bringing us right up to the discovery of gravitational waves (a phenomenon predicted by calculus). Strogatz reveals how this form of math rose to the challenges of each age: how to determine the area of a circle with only sand and a stick; how to explain why Mars goes "backwards" sometimes; how to make electricity with magnets; how to ensure your rocket doesn't miss the moon; how to turn the tide in the fight against AIDS. As Strogatz proves, calculus is truly the language of the universe. By unveiling the principles of that language, Infinite Powers makes us marvel at the world anew.

Book You Are Gods

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Bentley Hart
  • Publisher : University of Notre Dame Pess
  • Release : 2022-04-01
  • ISBN : 0268201951
  • Pages : 192 pages

Download or read book You Are Gods written by David Bentley Hart and published by University of Notre Dame Pess. This book was released on 2022-04-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Bentley Hart offers an intense and thorough reflection upon the issue of the supernatural in Christian theology and doctrine. In recent years, the theological—and, more specifically, Roman Catholic—question of the supernatural has made an astonishing return from seeming oblivion. David Bentley Hart’s You Are Gods presents a series of meditations on the vexed theological question of the relation of nature and supernature. In its merely controversial aspect, the book is intended most directly as a rejection of a certain Thomistic construal of that relation, as well as an argument in favor of a model of nature and supernature at once more Eastern and patristic, and also more in keeping with the healthier currents of mediaeval and modern Catholic thought. In its more constructive and confessedly radical aspects, the book makes a vigorous case for the all-but-complete eradication of every qualitative, ontological, or logical distinction between the natural and the supernatural in the life of spiritual creatures. It advances a radically monistic vision of Christian metaphysics but does so wholly on the basis of credal orthodoxy. Hart, one of the most widely read theologians in America today, presents a bold gesture of resistance to the recent revival of what used to be called “two-tier Thomism,” especially in the Anglophone theological world. In this astute exercise in classical Christian orthodoxy, Hart takes the metaphysics of participation, high Trinitarianism, Christology, and the soteriological language of theosis to their inevitable logical conclusions. You Are Gods will provoke many readers interested in theological metaphysics. The book also offers a vision of Christian thought that draws on traditions (such as Vedanta) from which Christian philosophers and theologians, biblical scholars, and religious studies scholars still have a great deal to learn.

Book Super Infinite

Download or read book Super Infinite written by Katherine Rundell and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. This book was released on 2022-09-06 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the 2022 Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction Winner of the 2022 Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize Shortlisted for the 2023 Plutarch Award A Wall Street Journal Top 10 Best Book of 2022 A New York Times Notable Book of the Year Named a Best Book of the Year by The New Yorker, Times Literary Supplement, and Literary Hub From the standout scholar Katherine Rundell, Super-Infinite presents a sparkling and very modern biography of John Donne: the poet of love, sex, and death. Sometime religious outsider and social disaster, sometime celebrity preacher and establishment darling, John Donne was incapable of being just one thing. He was a scholar of law, a sea adventurer, a priest, a member of Parliament—and perhaps the greatest love poet in the history of the English language. He converted from Catholicism to Protestantism, was imprisoned for marrying a sixteen-year-old girl without her father’s consent, struggled to feed a family of ten children, and was often ill and in pain. He was a man who suffered from surges of misery, yet expressed in his verse many breathtaking impressions of electric joy and love. In Super-Infinite, Katherine Rundell embarks on a fleet-footed act of evangelism, showing us the many sides of Donne’s extraordinary life, his obsessions, his blazing words, and his tempestuous Elizabethan times—unveiling Donne as the most remarkable mind and as a lesson in living.

Book Art as the Absolute

Download or read book Art as the Absolute written by Paul Gordon and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2017-03-23 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Art as the Absolute is a literary and philosophical investigation into the meaning of art and its claims to truth. Exploring in particular the writings of Kant and those who followed after, including Fichte, Schelling, Hegel, Schopenhauer, and Nietzsche, Paul Gordon contends that art solves the problem of how one can ?know? the absolute in non-conceptual, non-discursive terms. The idea of art's inherent relation to the absolute, first explicitly rendered by Kant, is examined in major works from 1790 to 1823. The first and last chapters, on Plato and Nietzsche respectively, deal with precursors and ?post-cursors? of this idea. Gordon shows and seeks to reddress the lack of attention to this idea after Hegel, as well as in contemporary reassessments of this period. Art as the Absolute will be of interest to students and scholars studying aesthetics from both a literary and philosophical perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As news reports of the horrific December 2004 tsunami in Asia reached the rest of the world, commentators were quick to seize upon the disaster as proof of either God s power or God s nonexistence, asking over and over, How could a good and loving God if such exists allow such suffering? In The Doors of the Sea David Bentley Hart speaks at once to those skeptical of Christian faith and to those who use their Christian faith to rationalize senseless human suffering. He calls both to recognize in the worst catastrophes not the providential will of God but rather the ongoing struggle between the rebellious powers that enslave the world and the God who loves it wholly.

Book Levinas Kant and the Problematic of Temporality

Download or read book Levinas Kant and the Problematic of Temporality written by Adonis Frangeskou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an ethical interpretation of the Critique of Pure Reason by establishing the historical connection between the problematic of Temporality in the philosophies of Heidegger and Levinas on the one hand, and the ground-laying of metaphysics in the schematism of Kant’s critical philosophy on the other. Drawing on Levinas’s ethical critique of the Heideggerian problematic of Temporality together with his destructive proposal to carry out the deformalization of the Kantian notion of time in a manner consistent with Rosenzweig’s philosophy, the book argues that this historical connection should be established at the point where Kant determines the ethical status of the schematism according to the regulative schemas of the ideas of pure reason, and not, as in Heidegger’s ontological destruction, at the point of his determination of the sensible schemas of the pure concepts of understanding alone.
