Book Thy Kingdom Come Volume One

Download or read book Thy Kingdom Come Volume One written by Mark Atkinson and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-05-22 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every prophecy in the Bible about Jesus Christ's first coming was fulfilled in minute detail. The Bible also tells us that He will come a second time and establish the Kingdom of God in the whole earth. Christians in the first century had a detailed knowledge of what will take place in future. They understood how God's plan would unfold. They also understood what God said about preparing for that time ahead. Indeed, they set the example for the generation that will see the Lord return. How can Christians today learn these truths? What does the Lord want us to do? How should we prepare for the time ahead? It is clear from the Scriptures that no Christian today should be ignorant of these matters. This book has the answers. It shows from the Scriptures what God wants us to understand. It choreographs future events. It exposes the Lie which Satan uses to deceive mankind. But most importantly, this book will equip you to stand strong. It is the Lord's will that you are prepared to meet Him at His glorious coming.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mystery of the Gospel: Revealing the First Century Truths About the Kingdom of God is an attempt to expose the messages of the coming kingdom of God to earth, which Christ brought down from the Father unto mankind. This knowledge is not known by majority of professing Christendom, but God wants the latter to be encompassed by the truth because it is evident that there is an undeniable force, power, and sovereignty of the Spirit of God moving within the true church of God and also the end-time charismatic movement of Christians. The coming of Christ and his establishment of the church of God became the standard and benchmark for living the Christian life at the time. However, due to opposing forces to the church of God and the first followers of Christ, the truth became suppressed. In other words, the first-century message and essence of the coming of Christ to proclaim his coming kingdom became lost or seriously flawed. Fortunately, Christ gave a promise concerning his church. He said, I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Despite the continuous existence of Gods true church, God is still real and moving in the lives of all professing Christians who are in the majority but are ignorant of the existence of the true church of God. God is not out to save all of humanity in this lifetime but will introduce and reeducate humanity to the laws and government of heaven in the millennial rule of Christ here on earth. God is a family, and as Christ is the firstborn of many brethren, so shall the first-fruit saints be called, begotten, and then born or resurrected as sons and daughters, and the rest of the professing Christians as the children being re-taught the truths, laws, statutes, and commandments of God in the kingdom.

Book Church History Volume One From Christ to the Pre Reformation

Download or read book Church History Volume One From Christ to the Pre Reformation written by Everett Ferguson and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Church History, Volume One offers a unique contextual view of how the Christian church spread and grew from its development in the days of Jesus to the years leading up to the Reformation. Looking closely at the integral link between the history of the world and that of the church, Church History paints a portrait of God's people within its setting of times, cultures, and events that both influenced and were influenced by the church. FEATURES: Maps, charts, and illustrations spanning the time from the first through the thirteenth centuries. Overviews of the Roman, Greek, and Jewish worlds and how they developed or declined. Insights into the church's relationship to the Roman Empire, with glimpses into pagan attitudes toward Christians. Explanations of the role of art, architecture, literature, and philosophy—both sacred and secular—in the Church. Details on the major theological controversies of the periods. Each chapter also contains callout passages from Scripture to assist in understanding the narrative of the Church, even to the present day, as part of the greater narrative of the Bible. AUTHOR'S PERSPECTIVE: Scholar and writer Everett Ferguson wrote this history of the church from the perspective that such a history is the story of the greatest movement and community the world has known. It's a human story of a divinely called people who wanted to live by a divine revelation. It's a story of how they succeeded and how they failed or fell short of their calling. From the Apostle Paul to the apologists and martyrs of the second century to Martin Luther, the historical figures detailed are people who have struggled with the meaning of the greatest event in history—the coming of the Son of God—and with their role in that event and in the lives of God's people.

Book Life and Practice in the Early Church

Download or read book Life and Practice in the Early Church written by Steve McKinion and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2001-08 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of primary texts revealing how early Christians practiced their faith Life and Practice in the Early Church brings together a range of primary texts from the church's first five centuries to demonstrate how early Christians practiced their faith. Rather than focusing on theology, these original documents shed light on how early believers "did church," addressing such practical questions as, how did the church administer baptism? How were sermons delivered? How did the early church carry out its missions endeavors? Early Christian writings reveal a great deal about the tradition, as well as the wider culture in which it developed. Far from being monolithic, the documents which present the voices of the early church fathers in their own words demonstrate variation and diversity regarding how faith was worked out during the patristic period. The texts illuminate who was eligible for baptism, what was expected of worshippers, how the Eucharist was celebrated, and how church offices and their functions were organized. Contextual introductions explain practices and their development for those with little prior knowledge of Christian history or tradition. The pieces included here, all in accessible English translation, represent such sources as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, the Cappadocians, Cyril of Jerusalem, John Chrysostom, and Augustine.

This study cuts through the confusion and honors the library of Scripture through the ages. Writing on the Revelation of Jesus Christ is not just a daunting challenge but a humbling experience. Download or read book Signs and Mysteries written by Mike Aquilina and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2008-08-04 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Imagine the dangerous life of an early Christian. You've embraced your newfound faith in Christ but fear the risk of persecution or death at the hands of the pagans living around you. Then a trusted friend tells you about some of Jesus' followers who secretly meet. He whispers into your ear, "Look for a fish carved in a paving stone" by a certain home on the Via Tiburtina. You smile in gratitude. Still today, modern society recognizes those Christian symbols that kept the early Christians safely connected: they appear on churches, bumper stickers, mugs -- even mints and stuffed animals. Yet we are often ignorant of the rich meaning of these symbols: their origins in Scripture, in ancient culture, and in the preaching of the Church Fathers. In this book, noted author Mike Aquilina conducts an intriguing and insightful tour of the symbols that expressed the life and devotion of the Church through the first four centuries of its existence. He explains how Christians freely borrowed pagan and Jewish symbols, giving them new, distinctly Christian meanings. Recover the zeal of our spiritual ancestors as you learn to read their symbolic language -- and discover the impact the symbols still have on your life today. More than a hundred illustrations, reproduced by artist Lea Marie Ravotti from the ancient originals, beautifully complement the text. Book Mysteries of the Bridechamber

Download or read book Mysteries of the Bridechamber written by Victoria LePage and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007-11-12 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus was an initiate and adept of the ancient Judaic mysteries who strove to reinstate the tradition of the bridechamber sacrament in his time • Shows that Jesus sought to establish equity of masculine and feminine in both spiritual practice and social traditions, particularly in the sacrament of marriage • Reinterprets Jesus’ key teachings in light of the ancient tradition of sacred consortship • Reveals what happened to the gnostic heart of Christianity that Jesus embodied Jesus was a high-initiate and master adept of the ancient Judaic mysteries who strove to free people from the dead hand of the ritualists. He was trained in a dissident Jewish brotherhood that arose in Egypt before he was born, which sought to bring back the ancient Judaic mysteries outlawed by the Jerusalem temple. At the heart of this movement was a yogic-based practice known in the apocrypha as the Gnosis of the Heart, which espoused the union of both sexes in a secret initiatic teaching. As a fearless social reformer, Jesus wanted to restore the authority of the feminine principle, including asserting the equality of man and woman in the social contract of marriage. He reinstated in his own life the tradition of sacred consortship--a rite known to early Church fathers as the bridechamber sacrament, whereby the marriage of the masculine and feminine energies was effected. This rite, Victoria LePage suggests, was the primary focus of Jesus’ teachings, the very heart of his exhortations to love thy neighbor, and the source of his healing power. Mysteries of the Bridechamber explains how, as a master adept of the Temple of Solomon, Jesus derived these teachings directly from ancient Judaic mystery traditions, revealing both a life story for Jesus that differs markedly from the version the Church has offered as well as a spiritual practice based on a mystical wisdom tradition of self-initiation and transformation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the Sixteenth Century Society's Roland H. Bainton Prize for History or Theology Paul C. H. Lim offers an insightful examination of the polemical debates about the doctrine of the Trinity in seventeenth-century England, showing that the philosophical and theological re-configuration of this doctrine had a significant impact on the politics of religion in the early modern period. Lim's analysis of these heated polemics shows how Trinitarian God-talk became untenable in many ecclesiastical and philosophical circles, leading to the emergence of Unitarianism. He demonstrates that those who continued to uphold Trinitarian doctrine articulated their piety and theological perspectives in an increasingly secularized culture of discourse. Drawing on both unexplored manuscripts and well-known treatises of Continental and English provenance, he uncovers the complex layers of the polemic: from biblical exegesis to reception history of patristic authorities, from popular religious radicalism during the Civil War to Puritan spirituality, from Continental Socinians to English anti-Trinitarians who claimed an independent theological identity, from the notion of the Platonic captivity of primitive Christianity to that of Plato as "Moses Atticus." Among this book's surprising findings are that Anti-Trinitarian sentiment arose in a Puritan ambience in which biblical literalism overrode rationalistic presuppositions, and that theology and philosophy were more closely connected during this period than previously thought. Mystery Unveiled fills a significant lacuna in early modern English intellectual history.

Book excerpt: From the bestselling author of The Lamb's Supper comes an illuminating work on the Catholic Eucharist and its link to the Jewish Passover meal. “Read this book. And don’t just read it. Pray about it. Reflect on it. And share it with others.”—Brant Pitre, author of The Case for Jesus In this brilliant book—part memoir, part detective story, and part biblical study—Scott Hahn opens up new vistas on ancient landscapes while shedding light on his own enduring faith journey. The Fourth Cup not only tracks the author’s gradual conversion along the path of Evangelicalism to the doorsteps of the Catholic faith, but also explores the often obscure and misunderstood rituals of Passover and their importance in foreshadowing salvation in Jesus Christ. Revealing the story of his formative years as an often hot-headed student and earnest seeker in search of answers to great biblical mysteries, Hahn shows how his ardent exploration of the Bible’s Old Testament turned up intriguing clues connecting the Last Supper and Christ’s death on Calvary. As Hahn tells the story of his discovery of the supreme importance of the Passover in God’s plan of salvation, we too experience often-overlooked relationships between Abel, Abraham, and the Hebrews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. Along the way, Hahn reveals how the traditional fourth cup of wine used in the concluding celebration of Passover explains in astonishing ways Christ’s paschal sacrifice. Rooted in Scripture and ingrained with lively history, The Fourth Cup delivers a fascinating view of the bridges that span old and new covenants, and celebrates the importance of the Jewish faith in understanding more fully Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.

Book What Does Revelation Reveal

Download or read book What Does Revelation Reveal written by Dr. Warren Carter and published by Abingdon Press. This book was released on 2011-08-01 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation has been mysterious, confusing, and misunderstood for centuries. Its content has been studied and analyzed by scholars from every corner of the globe. What is it about Revelation that draws us to it? Is this biblical book about end-time mysteries and hidden codes? Does and it relate to our present day? So what does Revelation actually reveal? Or should Revelation be left behind? According to Dr. Carter, the book of Revelation can tell us about biblical times as well as our own. It can show us how we, as Christians, are to live and hope for our world. Revelation reveals God's Word to God's World: that culture accommodation is dangerous, that judgment is taking place now, that the world does have a chance to repent, that there are evil powers working behind the scene, that the time is up for the eternal empire, and that God is coming in triumph.
