Join her as she candidly and realistically unveils the adoption process.
Download or read book Seven Biblical Mysteries Unveiled written by Larry E. Ford and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-11-12 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the development of Christian theology through the centuries, it has been generally believed that the theology of the Bible has been settled. That would be possible if there was only one true church and everyone in it believed and practiced Pauls description in Ephesians 4:316in effect, the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God. However, over thirty-two thousand opposing, contradictory Christian denominations misrepresent the unity that God desires for those who should worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:2324). The objective in presenting the seven biblical mysteries is to focus the readers attention on the difference between what appears to be settled theology and what Gods Word actually teaches us. The difference between the two should encourage the reader to rethink traditional views and to study the Bible in more depth with the hope and expectation that God will reveal the meanings of His mysteries in his or her faith.
Download or read book Adoptionland written by Janine Myung Ja and published by Against Child Trafficking USA. This book was released on 2014-07-21 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever wondered what it's like to be adopted? This anthology begins with personal accounts and then shifts to a bird's eye view on adoption from domestic, intercountry and transracial adoptees who are now adoptee rights activists. Along with adopted people, this collection also includes the voices of mothers and a father from the Baby Scoop Era, a modern-day mother who almost lost her child to adoption, and ends with the experience of an adoption investigator from Against Child Trafficking. These stories are usually abandoned by the very industry that professes to work for the "best interest of children," "child protection," and for families. However, according to adopted people who were scattered across nations as children, these represent typical human rights issues that have been ignored for too long. For many years, adopted people have just dealt with such matters alone, not knowing that all of us—as a community—have a great deal in common.
Download or read book Sacrifice Unveiled written by Robert J. Daly and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2009-04-13 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most ideas of sacrifice, even specifically Christian ideas, as we saw in the Reformation controversies, have something to do with deprivation or destruction. But this is not authentic Christian sacrifice. Authentic Christian sacrifice, and ultimately all true sacrifice (whether one is conscious of it or not) begins with the self-offering of the Father in the gift-sending of the Son, continues with the loving "response" of the Son, in his humanity, and in the Spirit, to the Father and for us, and finally, begins to become real in our world when human beings, in the power of the same Spirit that was in Jesus, respond to love with love, and thus begin to enter into that perfectly loving, totally self-giving relationship that is the life of the triune God. The origins of this are in the Hebrew Bible, its revelatory high-points in Jesus and Paul, and its working out in the life of the Church, especially its Eucharistic Prayers. Special attention will be paid to the atonement, not just because atonement and sacrifice are often synonymous, but also because traditional atonement theology is the source of distortions that continue to plague Christian thinking about sacrifice. After exploring the possibility of finding a phenomenology of sacrificial atonement in Girardian mimetic theory, the book will end with some suggestions on how to communicate its findings to people likely to be put off from the outset by the negative connotations associated with "sacrifice."

Download or read book Radicalism Unveiled written by Farhaan Wali and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radicalism Unveiled is an essential and unique contribution to our knowledge concerning the rise of Islamic radicalism in Britain. Through the study of Hizb ut-Tahrir (The Liberation Party), the spectre of radicalisation looms large and Muslim youth in Britain are increasingly linked to this group, making a critical examination of this complex phenomenon far overdue. Troubled by the great volume of disjointed theories put forward to provide an explanation for radicalisation, the author moves away from the preoccupation with working-class Muslims and considers the socio-political realities of this middle-class movement. An expanding movement inspiring Muslims in Britain to turn away from the bedrock principles of this country and infusing them with religious fanaticism. By penetrating the clandestine veil of Islamic radicalism, the book is able to interpret and analyse the closed social world of radical activism. Relatively unchallenged within British society, Radicalism Unveiled has one key purpose: to determine and explain why some young Muslims join Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Download or read book Shekinah Unveiled written by John Whitman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-07-05 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians believe and have been taught that the bride of Christ is the church, and this presupposition is widely held by scholars, ministers, and laity alike as though it were a biblical precept. Yet this view actually owes its origins to pagan heresy and mysticism that infiltrated the church over the centuries. In fact, the scriptures tell us who Jesus will marryand it is neither the Christian church nor Israel. Shekinah Unveiled examines and irrevocably dismantles the ages-old traditions that maintain that the church is the bride of Christ and that Israel was Yahwehs wife. Author and theologian John Whitman proves, from scripture, who the true bride of Christ and the wives of Yahweh are, and he explains why it matters to know the identity of the bride of Christ. Knowledge of the true identity of the bride of Christ affects multiple core doctrines of faiththe imago Dei, marriage, sexuality and the family, sin, Christology, ecclesiology, eschatology, judgment, bridal theology, and theology proper. And because the latter is itself the bedrock upon which not only systematic theology but each of these other attendant doctrines are founded, the very heart of Christianity is affected by knowing the identity of Christs bride.

Download or read book Love Unveiled written by Edward Sri, Ph.D and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2015 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the acclaimed film series, Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained, this book leads readers through the “big picture” of the Catholic faith. Professor Sri helps you discover all the essential aspects of the Catholic faith - from creation, the cross and the Church, to the sacraments, social teaching, sexual ethics, purgatory, the papacy and prayer. The author shows how all the aspects of the faith fit together into the one overarching story of God’s love for us and our participation in that love. He uses the Catechism of the Catholic Church for our itinerary, focusing on the four main pillars of the Catechism – Creed, Sacraments, Moral Life and Prayer As we walk through core Catholic beliefs, he addresses common questions people have today, such as: • Why do I need the Church - can’t I just be spiritual on my own? • Isn’t one religion just as good as another? • How is the death of a man 2,000 years ago, in a city far away, relevant for my life today? • Why does the Church talk about morality so much? Can’t I make up my own morality? • Is it really our responsibility to care for the poor— doesn’t God help those who help themselves? • Addresses common questions Protestants have about Mary, the Bible, Confession, the Papacy, the Mass. Much more than an intellectual enterprise, this work is also a deep spiritual reflection that draws upon the beauty of the Catholic tradition and the insights of the saints. It offers many practical applications to our daily lives, considering how the various aspects of the faith invite us to a deeper conversion— to love God more and entrust ourselves to him. Thus, this book aims to form the head and the heart, helping us to not only understand Jesus and his plan of salvation, but inspires us to love him and our neighbor more. For this is what the faith is all about: “Being a Christian is not the result of an ethical choice or a lofty idea, but the encounter with an event, a person, which gives life a new horizon and a decisive direction.” (Pope Benedict XVI)
Download or read book Finance Capitalism Unveiled written by Richard Edward Deeg and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2010-08-10 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If we are moving toward one global financial market, will all national financial systems that determine how businesses raise money look the same? Richard Deeg argues that, despite financial market integration and considerable harmonization in the regulation of financial markets, the traditional structure and economic functions of national financial systems are not inevitably undermined. Using the case of Germany--a country with a strong and distinctive financial sector that is at the center of the pressures of economic integration--the author shows how the unique aspects of the German financial sector and its relationship to the German economy have persisted notwithstanding powerful pressures to change. Posing the German model of coordinated capitalism in which banks play an important role in shaping both firm behavior and the possibilities for state intervention in the economy against the liberal model of the United States and Britain in which the securities markets play a much greater role than banks, Deeg shows how the German model has survived competitive pressures in the international economic system that have pushed Germany--and other countries--toward the liberal model. This book will appeal to political scientists and economists interested in international financial markets, globalization, and the comparative study of domestic financial markets, as well as in German politics and the German economy. Richard Deeg is Assistant Professor of Political Science, Temple University.
