His search for his long lost mother, his twisted love story, Katie – his coup de grace – and the bunch of crazy friends he makes along the way throw in a blunt, unjustified, fresh take at an ambitious guy’s life. Aakash’s rise and fall and the events escalating to it shape up this tale. It is a deliberate attempt of focusing on a man’s urge to find happiness and liberate him from mind-forced shackles. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘I’ll call you.’ ‘I love you.’ I’ll be home in 20 minutes.’ ‘No, I don’t think your thighs are too big.’ ‘I’m going to leave my wife.’ From first date deception to martial dishonesty to last-ditch efforts to evade detection, 101 Lies Men Tell Women exposes the extraordinary diverse lies that invade male/female relationships and destroy trust. What do men tend to lie about? Why do they feel the need to life? Dr. Dory Hollander offers rare insight into the most prevalent lies and the often startling reasons why men tell them. Based on the provocative findings of her research, Dr. Hollander also shows why women are more vulnerable to certain types of lies that others, while helping the reader to understand the dynamics of deception. Learn how men use the lies as a means of both attracting and distancing themselves from the women in their lives and how this affects the women who love them. Filled with highly amusing, as well as emotionally wrenching stories from the men and women in Dr. Hollander’s study, 101 Lies Men Tell Women captivates and enlightens with original quizzes and exercises for decoding – men’s words and actions. A self-defense manual for women who, until now, have had little understanding of, and even less protection against, the well-told lie.

Book excerpt: There is absolutely nothing more fun than lying confidently about history. Lying is incredibly fun. In fact, the only thing that feels better than lying to someone is lying to someone, then regaining their trust, and then lying to them again. This book, for example, was promised to be released in April 2016. But that was a lie. The plan was always October 2018. Because, you know, now is a time in history when lying openly gets you elected to office. In this book, you will find plenty of plausible but completely unverifiable nonsense. Almost like watching Fox News but with a better sense of humour. Hopefully, it will teach you much about nothing other than the true joy of lying to people. Honestly, there has never been a better moment in history to be a liar. We have reached a point where truths have become lies and lies are now the truth. So learn from the greatest and get inspired by the best lies in history. *NB: Most profits from this book are going to finance railway infrastructure under the English Channel. Contains strong language.

Book excerpt: The Four Loves is a 1960 book by C. S. Lewis which explores the nature of love from a Christian and philosophical perspective through thought experiments. The book was based on a set of radio talks from 1958 which had been criticized in the U.S. at the time for their frankness about sex. C.S. Lewis examines storge or empathy love; philia, friendship love; eros, romantic love; and agape, or God love. Excerpt: "GOD is love," says St. John. When I first tried to write this book I thought that his maxim would provide me with a very plain highroad through the whole subject. I thought I should be able to say that human loves deserved to be called loves at all just in so far as they resembled that Love which is God."

Book A Clergyman s Daughter

Download or read book A Clergyman s Daughter written by George Orwell and published by HMH. This book was released on 1950-01-01 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A pious young woman grapples with a loss of memory—and of faith—in this sharp, witty novel by the author of 1984 and Animal Farm. Dorothy is the daughter of the Reverend Charles Hare, rector of St. Athelstan’s in Depression-era Suffolk, England. She serves as a dutiful housekeeper, performs good works, cultivates good thoughts—and pricks her arm with a pin when a bad thought arises. But even as she toils away making costumes for the church school play, she is haunted by thoughts about the poverty that surrounds her and the debts she can’t afford to pay. Then, suddenly, she finds herself in London. She is wearing silk stockings, has money in her pocket, and cannot remember her own name . . . This novel of a woman thrust into a strange journey, struck by amnesia and grappling with questions of faith and identity in a world of unemployment and hunger, is a masterful work of satire by one of the great writers of the twentieth century.

Book Parzival A Knightly Epic Complete

Download or read book Parzival A Knightly Epic Complete written by Wolfram von Eschenback and published by Library of Alexandria. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 1225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In presenting, for the first time, to English readers the greatest work of Germany's greatest mediæval poet, a few words of introduction, alike for poem and writer, may not be out of place. The lapse of nearly seven hundred years, and the changes which the centuries have worked, alike in language and in thought, would have naturally operated to render any work unfamiliar, still more so when that work was composed in a foreign tongue; but, indeed, it is only within the present century that the original text of the Parzivalhas been collated from the MSS. and made accessible, even in its own land, to the general reader. But the interest which is now felt by many in the Arthurian romances, quickened into life doubtless by the genius of the late Poet Laureate, and the fact that the greatest composer of our time, Richard Wagner, has selected this poem as the groundwork of that wonderful drama, which a growing consensus of opinion has hailed as the grandest artistic achievement of this century, seem to indicate that the time has come when the work of Wolfram von Eschenbach may hope to receive, from a wider public than that of his own day, the recognition which it so well deserves. Of the poet himself we know but little, save from the personal allusions scattered throughout his works; the dates of his birth and death are alike unrecorded, but the frequent notices of contemporary events to be found in his poems enable us to fix with tolerable certainty the period of his literary activity, and to judge approximately the outline of his life. Wolfram's greatest work, the Parzival, was apparently written within the early years of the thirteenth century; he makes constant allusions to events happening, and to works produced, within the first decade of that period; and as his latest work, the Willehalm, left unfinished, mentions as recent the death of the Landgrave Herman of Thuringia, which occurred in 1216, the probability seems to be that the Parzival was written within the first fifteen years of the thirteenth century. Inasmuch, too, as this work bears no traces of immaturity in thought or style, it is probable that the date of the poet's birth cannot be placed much later than 1170.
