Book excerpt: Long accused of racism and “white flight,” the ethnic Americans driven from their homes and neighborhoods—the author included—finally get the chance to tell their side of the story. “A startlingly honest and poignant look at ‘white flight’ from the white perspective. A necessary and overdue corrective.” —Brent Bozell III, founder and president of the Media Research Center I asked one lifelong friend, a rare Democrat among the displaced, why he and his widowed mother finally left our block in the early 1970s, twenty years after the first African-American families moved in. He searched a minute for the right set of words, and then simply said, “It became untenable.” When I asked what he meant by “untenable,” he answered, “When your mother gets mugged for the second time, that’s untenable. When your home gets broken into for the second time, that’s untenable.” In researching this project, I found myself repeatedly stunned by the failure of self-described experts on white flight to ask those accused of fleeing why it was they fled. The reason the experts didn’t ask, I discovered, is that they were afraid of what they might learn.
Download or read book One Word of Truth Outweighs the Whole World written by Carl Wells and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2024-01-22 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn told us, decades ago, that one word of truth outweighs the whole world, he was quoting from a Russian proverb. According to the proverb (and to Solzhenitsyn), that would mean that truth is extremely weighty and important. The Bible seems to agree, because the Bible stresses over and over the loveliness of truth—and the ugliness of falsehood. One Word of Truth Outweighs the Whole World, by Carl Wells, examines what it will mean for us, in practical terms, if we begin to have a high respect for truth. Caring about the truth may be easier said than done!
Download or read book ASHLI written by Jack Cashill and published by Bombardier Books. This book was released on 2024-05-21 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike the women who descended on Washington in 2017 to protest the inauguration of President Trump, the women of January 6 did not come as women. They came as Americans, as patriots, as defenders of the republic. They did not wear pink hats. They wore MAGA hats. Their issues were indistinguishable from those of the men in their lives—the rule of law, free and fair elections, and the preservation of constitutional rights. They brought no laundry list of special needs like, say, “reproductive rights,” because they understood that no one was challenging their right to reproduce. In fact, many had reproduced abundantly. There was not a single celebrity in their midst—no Ashley Judds, no Gloria Steinems, no Madonnas threatening to “blow up the White House.” These were Hillary’s “deplorables” in the flesh, a whole heaping basket of them, “irredeemable” to the last woman. On January 6, the very presence of these intrepid women at the Capitol so offended the natural order of things that many would be gassed and beaten. Two would never return home. If resistance to government oppression has a face, it is that of Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, a determined patriot and an enduring martyr. This is her story, and that of the other gallant women of January 6.
Download or read book Unmasking Obama written by Jack Cashill and published by Post Hill Press. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the Obama years, an asymmetrical media war was waged to control the critical first draft of American history. There is no fair way to record that history without first acknowledging the war. The field of battle shaped up as follows: on the right, the alternative conservative media and the “responsible” right, occasionally working together, often working at odds; on the left, the mainstream media, the social media giants, Hollywood, Broadway, the federal bureaucracies, the national security apparatus, and what Ray Bradbury would call “firemen”—the virtual book burners, amateur and professional. Rarely at odds, these forces routinely worked together to amplify what Obama adviser Ben Rhodes famously called the White House’s “messaging campaign.” Money, resources, and power overwhelmingly favored the left, but the right had the equalizer on its side—the truth.
Download or read book Hoodwinked written by Jack Cashill and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2009-07-20 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the last century, many intellectuals and activists responsible for shaping the way we think about sex, crime, government, and even our very history have been fabricating the facts. And yet they have been published, praised, promoted, and protected by a cultural establishment that has its agendas advanced by disinformation, half-truths, and lies. As a student of American intellectual history, Cashill has come to see that much of what is taught about the last century is not merely biased but knowingly false. A Ph.D. in American studies from Purdue, and a former Fulbright professor in France, Cashill has taught at several American universities and knows all too well the spin and dissembling of the academic world and public debate. In this sensational and essential book, Cashill tells the stories behind the fraud and reveals an unsettling pattern of institutional and cultural deception. With wide scope and fine-point scrutiny, Hoodwinked finally and definitively exposes the intellectual elite's trumpery?from unwitting self-deception to conscious manipulation of data, from the merely false to the purely fraudulent?and is the perfect antidote for the corrosive disinformation that has poisoned our society, culture, and understanding of the world at large. Norm Chomsky is one of America's best known public intellectuals, the nation's self-appointed conscience. And, says Arthur Schlesinger, "it has long been impossible to believe anything he says." The bigger problem is that the same?and worse?can be said for much of America's cultural elite, and Jack Cashill exposes them all. The sexual revolution. Alfred Kinsey encouraged the sexual torture of small boys. Masters and Johnson created an imiainary heterosexual AIDS crisis. Planned Parenthood buried margaret Sanger's plan to sterilize the racially and genetically "impure." Multiculturalism. Mumia is guilty. Alex Haley's Roots was almost pure fraud. Edward Said grew up a wealthy American, not a persecuted palestinian refugee. University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill faked his identity as Native American and much of his scholarship on genocide. And Michael Moore? He faked just about everything. Marxism. The New York Times' Waltar Duranty won a Pulitzer for denying Stalin's holocaust. Lillian Hellman papered over the communist sabotage of Hollywood with lies. Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs were guilty as geese. Radical Naturalism. Rachel Carson's bogus case against DDT has killed millions needlessly. Overpopulation alarmists predicted worldwide famines before 1999 and were honored for their insights. Neo-Darwinians have been faking their proofs for a century in textbooks and getting away with it. Hoodwinked is a powerful and devastating book that exposes the myriad lies and half-truths that America's progressive elite has used to hijack an entire culture.
Download or read book Popes and Bankers written by Jack Cashill and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2010-03-15 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AMIDST THE WRECKAGE OF FINANCIAL RUIN, PEOPLE ARE LEFT PUZZLING ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED. WHERE DID ALL THE PROBLEMS BEGIN? For the answer, Jack Cashill, a journalist as shrewd as he is seasoned, looks past the headlines and deep into pages of history and comes back with the goods. From Plato to payday loans, from Aristotle to AIG, from Shakespeare to the Salomon Brothers, from the Medici to Bernie Madoff—in Popes and Bankers Jack Cashill unfurls a fascinating story of credit and debt, usury and “the sordid love of gain.” With a dizzying cast of characters, including church officials, gutter loan sharks, and even the Knights Templar, Cashill traces the creative tension between “pious restraint” and “economic ambition” through the annals of human history and illuminates both the dark corners of our past and the dusty corners of our billfolds.

Download or read book Deconstructing Obama written by Jack Cashill and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2011-02-15 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did Obama write his own books and is the story they tell true? “I've written two books,” Barack Obama told a crowd of teachers in July of 2008. “I actually wrote them myself.” The teachers exploded in laughter. They got the joke: lesser politicians were not bright enough to do the same. During the 2008 presidential campaign, Obama supporters pointed to the first of those two books, the 1995 memoir, Dreams from My Father, as proof of Obama’s superior intellect. Time magazine called Dreams “the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician.” The Obama campaign machine traded on the candidate’s literary reputation, encouraging volunteers to “get out the vote and keep talking to others about the genius of Barack Obama.” There was just one small flaw, as writer and literary detective Jack Cashill discovered months before the November 2008 election: nothing in Obama’s history suggested he was capable of writing either Dreams or his 2006 book, The Audacity of Hope. In fact, as Cashill continued his research, he came to the shocking conclusion that the real craftsman behind Dreams was terrorist emeritus Bill Ayers. “This was a charge,” David Remnick admits in his definitive Obama biography, The Bridge, “that if ever proved true, or believed to be true among enough voters, could have been the end of the candidacy.” Deconstructing Obama tells the story of what happens when a citizen journalist discovers a game-changing reality that the media refuse to acknowledge. Despite their rejection, Cashill expanded his research into Obama’s literary canon. As he came to see, if Dreams serves as sacred text, the poem “Pop” is the Rosetta stone, the key to deciphering Obama’s shrouded past, his fragile psyche, and his uniquely cryptic political life. In unlocking that past, Cashill discovered that the story that Obama has been telling all his life varies from the true story in ways big and small. In fact, much of Obama’s life story appears to be a wholly constructed fabrication, one that Jack Cashill “deconstructs” to show the world just who Barack Obama really is.

Download or read book Collision Course written by Hugh Davis Graham and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2003-09-11 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1965 were passed, they were seen as triumphs of liberal reform. Yet today affirmative action is foundering in the great waves of immigration from Asia and Latin America, leading to direct competition for jobs, housing, education, and government preference programs. In Collision Course, Hugh Davis Graham explains how two such well-intended laws came into conflict with each other when employers, acting under affirmative action plans, hired millions of new immigrants ushered in by the Immigration Act, while leaving high unemployment among inner-city blacks. He shows how affirmative action for immigrants stirred wide resentment and drew new attention to policy contradictions. Graham sees a troubled future for both programs. As the economy weakens and antiterrorist border controls tighten, the competition for jobs will intensify pressure on affirmative action and invite new restrictions on immigration. Graham's insightful interpretation of the unintended consequences of these policies is original and controversial.
Download or read book The Holy Piby written by Robert Athlyi Rogers and published by The Floating Press. This book was released on 2009-05-01 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1920s, Robert Athlyi Rogers founded the Afro-Athlican Constructive Gaathly religion in the West Indies. He wrote The Holy Piby as a guiding text, seeing Ethiopians - in the classical meaning of all Africans - as God's chosen people, and he preached self-determination and self-reliance. The Holy Piby is a major source of influence to the Rastafarian faith, which holds Haile Selassie I as Christ, and Marcus Garvey as his prophet. The Holy Piby consists of four books, and the seventh chapter of the second book identifies Marcus Garvey as one of three apostles of God. Original copies are extremely rare, and it is not even listed in the Library of Congress. The text was banned in Jamaica and many other Caribbean Islands until the late 1920s.

Book excerpt: The mysterious death of Ron Brown has caused much controversy and suspicion, and in this investigative book, Cashill takes a close look at Brown's checkered career as Clinton fund-raiser and commerce secretary and consequently exposes the Clintons' dirty, relentless practices for getting financial backing. Cashill answers the most trenchant questions surrounding Brown's rise and fall: Why did his plane crash? Why did the White House suppress an investigation? What was the purpose of Brown's trade missions? And what larger forces caused the Clintons to seek international cash? Using the case of Ron Brown's untimely death as a touchstone for the Clintons' unseemly and unsavory practices in the White House, Cashill explores the seedy depths of the most corrupt administration in American history during its two most desperate years and focuses directly on the machinations of the direst threat to today's political scene, Hillary Clinton.

Download or read book You Lie written by Jack Cashill and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A devastating catalog of Barack Obama’s numerous evasions, misleading statements and blatant lies, from statements in his national bestseller Dreams from My Father to “You can keep your health plan,” PolitiFact’s 2013 “Lie of the Year.” During President Obama’s address to Congress in November 2009, Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina shouted, “You lie!” As Jack Cashill details, the president has been lying about his personal history and his political philosophy from the beginning of his political career. Yet throughout his meteoric rise and the first five years of his presidency, the liberal media turned a blind eye to his numerous evasions, contradictions, misstatements, deceptions, untruths, and outright falsehoods. It wasn’t until the disastrous Obamacare rollout that the president’s lies caught up with him. Finally, it was impossible even for the mainstream media to ignore the president’s repeated assertions that all Americans could keep their health care plans and family doctors if they so chose. In You Lie! conservative journalist and author Jack Cashill provides a devastating compendium of the president’s false and misleading statements on matters great and small, from the deliberate distortions in his celebrated memoir, Dreams from My Father, to his rise to the White House and his years as president.

Culminating with an analysis of the issues and threats that Israel is facing, My Promised Land uses the defining events of the past to shed new light on the present. Shavit’s analysis of Israeli history provides a landmark portrait of a small, vibrant country living on the edge, whose identity and presence play a crucial role in today’s global political landscape.
Download or read book Scarlet Letters written by Jack Cashill and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like its namesake, Scarlet Letters addresses the hard truths of life in an increasingly "progressive" America where the irrational prejudices of a group can crush the soul of the individual. In both the old and new puritanism, worshippers achieve a sense of moral worth simply by designating themselves among "the elect"--no good works required. To validate that uncertain status, they feel compelled to heap abuse upon the sinner lest they too be thought guilty of the sin. Rather than simply cataloging the neo-puritan assaults on reason and liberty, Scarlet Letters illustrates how the progressive movement came to mimic a religion in its structure but not at all in its spirit while profiling those brave individuals who dared to take a stand against this inquisition. In the neo-puritan world, all conservatives are an awkwardly worded tweet away from being branded a homophobe, a racist, a sexist, an Islamophobe or worse. Progressives force assumptions upon anyone who disagrees with their political and social agenda. Those who dare suggest a violent attack was committed by someone of Islamic faith is an Islamophobe. Those who identify the race of even a wanted criminal is a racist. Those who don't support gay marriage are homophobes with a capitol "H." In the eyes of the progressive neo-puritan, that word - that letter - becomes all that a person is. With real-life examples from sexist Clarence Thomas to Islamophobe Ayaan Hirsi Ali to racist Paula Deen to homophobe Phil Robertson, author Jack Cashill explains how a person's identity is reduced to the cruelest of stereotypes. Falsified narratives and manufactured outrage perpetuate the neo-puritan goals, whether they be affecting a presidential election, or simply undermining an individual's personal opinion in order to drag them down. Discover how progressive forces have eroded traditional American values and how the movement became inquisitional and vengeful. Find out how individuals and organization have found the courage to resist this movement and what you can do to fight back successfully.
