Book Why Women Need Fat

Download or read book Why Women Need Fat written by William D. Lassek M.D. and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2011-12-29 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The groundbreaking discovery that shows why women need fat to lose fat. Why do women struggle so much with weight? Can women ever lose weight and keep it off? In this research-driven and counterintuitive book, an anthropologist and a public health doctor team up to answer those questions. Blending anecdotal evidence with hard science, they explain how women's weight is controlled by evolution-but more important- they reveal how a change in diet three decades ago may be the reason women today are bigger than their grandmothers were. Explaining why fat (both in our diet and in our body) is crucial to long-term health, the authors show not only why women tend (and need) to get heavier after having their first child, but also destroy cultural myths like "all fat is bad for you." Providing a plan that can help any woman achieve a natural, healthy weight- without dieting- Why Women Need Fat not only gives women the tools they need to shed weight, but also a better understanding of why those last five pounds seem impossible to lose.

Book The Craving Cure

Download or read book The Craving Cure written by Julia Ross and published by Flatiron Books. This book was released on 2017-12-12 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drop Addictive Sweets and Starches--and Stop Weight Gain--in 24 Hours Featuring a 5-part questionnaire to help you identify your personal craving profile Julia Ross, best-selling author and expert in nutrition and overeating, exposes the real reason so many of us can’t stick to a healthy diet: our favorite foods are engineered to be addictive. At her clinic in California, Ross and her colleagues treat food addiction where it starts--in the brain--by triggering our natural appetite-regulating neurotransmitters with nutrients called amino acids. It turns out that these protein concentrates boost our neurotransmitters, which broadcast sensations of satisfaction that no food, including chocolate, can override. Thousands of Ross’ clients have abolished their cravings for high-calorie confections using this simple nutritional strategy. With The Craving Cure, Ross grants all of us access to this revolutionary approach. The process begins with a five-part questionnaire that helps you identify your unique craving profile and specifies the amino acid supplements you need to curb your specific cravings. Ross’ clear explanations of why and how to use the aminos empower you to reclaim your natural appetite control, and her anti-craving eating guidelines will permanently strengthen your dietary defenses. A well-researched and clinically-tested rejection of low-calorie, low-saturated fat, and low-protein diets, The Craving Cure reveals how we can effortlessly and permanently eradicate our cravings to lose weight, rediscover our nutritional heritage, and regain optimal mood, energy, and health.

Book The Alpha s Woman

  • Author : Carolyn Faulkner
  • Publisher : Blushing Publications
  • Release : 2018-07-04
  • ISBN : 1612582133
  • Pages : 136 pages

Download or read book The Alpha s Woman written by Carolyn Faulkner and published by Blushing Publications. This book was released on 2018-07-04 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She is nothing more to him than a means to obtain children. When she is released from the stasis she voluntarily entered, the world that greets Emily Harding is far from what she expected. It more closely resembles a post-apocalyptic novel than the rolling green Tennessee hills she’s left behind. Worse than that, it seems that the rule of law is a thing of the past, and that society has devolved into what it was thousands of years ago – feudal tribes warring with each other over precious and rare supplies, which includes females. One type of female in particular. It is raw, unforgiving, and animalistic. Much like the behavior of the man who takes her captive and holds her there, forcing her to learn that even she is not unaffected by the changes that have been wrought on the world, proving to her time and time again that she is nothing more to him than a means to obtain children. And making her scream in agonizing pleasure as he does so. Publisher’s Note: The Alpha's Woman is a dark tale with some explicit themes.

Book Honest Nutrition

Download or read book Honest Nutrition written by Ira Edwards and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2007-07-09 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Honest Nutrition is an attempt to do what textbooks and hundreds of diet books do not. Nutrition textbooks do not tell you that this science is in its infancy, nor how many "scientific" claims are open to question, based on faulty research or simple hunches. If they include some of the biochemical and physiological context of nutrition, they still omit financial, social and political aspects. After attempting to understand the prejudice against vitamins and supplements among the industrial-medical-political Big Brother (IMP-BB) and the lack of evidence for most alternatives, there is still some useful information. Opposing philosophies are denoted as SUPR (SUrgery-PRescription orientation) and UTHR (Unconventional Therapies, Herbal Remedies.) Honest Nutrition uses a large alphabetical section to give easy access to useful information about many diseases and nutritional therapies. Honest Nutrition includes information about hormone resistance diseases, cryptic infections as a cause of "unknown etiology" diseases, and the effect of nutrition on behavior and criminality. Some claims: 1. Obesity always involves hormones, sometimes with positive-feedback loops, which is why "Just eat less and exercise" seldom works. 2. A major factor in arterial disease is viscous blood, resulting in part from a lack of omega-3 fat. Cholesterol lowering does not help. 3. Some heart attacks may be due to hormonal effects, involving the hormone ouabain, and preventable with an extract of the herb strophanthus. 4. Many, or most North Americans suffer serious lack of nutrients: vitamin D, magnesium, and plant nutrients. The author challenges the medical establishment to examine their doctrines and learn how to help people suffering from nutritional diseases. Many technical terms are included. The non-scientific reader is asked to skip over these, to gain a useful knowledge of nutrition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone loves to eat. And everyone wants to be healthy. But how do we navigate between today’s extremes—between those offering us gastronomic gluttony and the siren song of convenient junk food and those preaching salvation only through deprivation and boring food choices? Dr. Michael Fenster draws upon his expertise and training as an interventional cardiologist and as a chef to forge a path through this wilderness to offer readers a middle path that endorses both fine dining and health eating. As a chef and foodie, and someone who has battled the bulge himself, he knows that if the food doesn’t taste great, no one will sustain any program for a lifetime. Here, Dr. Mike introduces the idea of becoming a Grassroots Gourmet. Being a Grassroots Gourmet is all about using fresh, wholesome ingredients, from local sources when you can get them. It is about the judicious use of salt, sugars, and fat to create wonderfully appealing and tasty, restaurant-worthy dishes. You do not need to be a trained chef; a few simple techniques, described here, go along way. As a physician, chef, and martial arts expert, Fenster combines knowledge from all three fields to present a cooking and dining program that recognizes our desire to eat great food without gaining weight and without sacrificing our health along the way. Revealing the latest data on previously forbidden foods like red meat and foie gras, Dr. Mike describes why these can be delicious AND healthy choices. He guides the reader step by step through a philosophy of eating and living that is sustainable and enjoyable once the commitment is made, and offers original, kitchen-tested recipes, and information about various food choices. Recipes include: Oven Roasted Mushroom Stuffed Quail with Blueberry Chimichuri Chicken Yakitori Saffron Risotto with Mushrooms, Peas, and Pearl Onions French Omelet with Truffle Butter and Brie Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage Brown Butter Porcini Mushroom and Artichoke Heart Ragu Grilled Pork Loin Margarita Blood Orange Curry Sauce

Book Fructose Exposed

Download or read book Fructose Exposed written by M. Frank Lyons and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States is witnessing an explosion of the metabolic syndrome. We have unprecedented levels of people walking around with high blood pressure, abdominal obesity, type II diabetes and high cholesterol. The healthcare system is overrun with heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, gout, fatty liver, gastroesophageal reflux disease and the complications that come with prolonged obesity. Research is finally defining the cause of the metabolic syndrome. A sugar in the headlines these days, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), was initially thought to be the culprit. But fructose, also known as fruit sugar, is the true villain; and its consumption in America has increased 600% in the past 25 years! While the nation is boycotting HFCS and returning to table sugar-sweetened foods, excess fructose is killing adults and the youth of America. "FRUCTOSE EXPOSED" clarifies the misunderstanding surrounding fructose, HFCS and the metabolic disaster that develops from chronic, excess fructose consumption. M. Frank Lyons II, M.D. is a practicing gastroenterologist in Tacoma, Washington. He has been a clinical researcher, teacher and writer for the past quarter century. He is a recent author of 42 Days to a New Life-a book that describes the importance of a balanced fat diet to prevent numerous diseases. Dr. Lyons has BS and MS degrees in microbiology and a Doctorate in Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology. His passion is to discover the causes of the exploding medical problems that are afflicting millions of Americans that he has witnessed firsthand during his medical career. His desire to teach his patients how to reverse many of those diseases has led to the research and writing of FRUCTOSE EXPOSED and 42 Days to a New Life.
