Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this groundbreaking work, Robert Sternberg opens the book of love and shows you how to discover your own story--and how to read your relationships in a whole new light. What draws us so strongly to some people and repels us from others? What makes some relationships work so smoothly and others burst into flames? Sternberg gives us new answers to these questions by showing that the kind of relationship we create depends on the kind of love stories we carry inside us. Drawing on extensive research and fascinating examples of real couples, Sternberg identifies 26 types of love story--including the fantasy story, the business story, the collector story, the horror story, and many others--each with its distinctive advantages and pitfalls, and many of which are clashingly incompatible. These are the largely unconscious preconceptions that guide our romantic choices, and it is only by becoming aware of the kind of story we have about love that we gain the freedom to create more fulfilling and lasting relationships. As long as we remain oblivious to the role our stories play, we are likely to repeat the same mistakes again and again. But the enlivening good news this book brings us is that though our stories drive us, we can revise them and learn to choose partners whose stories are more compatible with our own. Quizzes in each chapter help you to see which stories you identify with most strongly and which apply to your partner. Are you a traveler, a gardener, a teacher, or something else entirely? Love is a Story shows you how to find out.

Book Diabetes and God s Unending Grace

Download or read book Diabetes and God s Unending Grace written by Pamela Diane (Vance) Worley and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-06-10 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diabetes and God's Unending Grace is the story of my fifty-four-year journey as an insulin-dependent, type-1 diabetic. I believe that God has directly led me to write this book as a source of encouragement and inspiration for other people afflicted with this incurable disease. My journey as a type-1 diabetic began on December 4, 1965. I was almost sixteen years old. Diabetes was much more difficult to manage at this time, and I described this in the early chapters of my book. My parents were informed by the doctor to tell me to never get pregnant and that I might live twenty-five more years. At age sixty-nine, I have survived type-1 diabetes for over half a century. Through divine interventions and answered prayers, I have cheated death many times over. Through God's wisdom and guidance, I have probably accomplished more in my life than an average person. I give my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, all the glory and praise. Deep down inside, I know God allowed this disease into my life because he had a special plan for me. Throughout life, God's strength and grace have met my every need. If you are a diabetic, either a type 1 or type 2, I believe that God has you on a special assignment. I believe he wants to manifest his grace and strength through you. I believe that God also desires to help you discover the special blessings you could not have had otherwise without your diabetes. I trust that my personal story in Diabetes and God's Unending Grace will deepen your faith and trust in the divine sovereignty of Almighty God. He is a wonderful heavenly Father, and you will read about his awesome and unending grace!

In One Hundred Devotional Poems, he continues to explore these sentiments by creating one hundred sonnets that are based on a wide variety of beliefs and experiences. Exploring spiritual themes, these meditative poems are written with clarity and simplicity; however, they also portray life as a constant challenge that offers opportunities for growth. Meeting these challenges, of course, often involves loneliness, alienation, and sorrow as well. Nevertheless, these poems are ultimately about God and his love. This love is the overwhelming theme of One Hundred Devotional Poems, and it is the authors hope that this idea comes through clearly in the poems.
