Book excerpt: A book designed to dispel the myths we have about emotions, showing how to treat them in such a way that they no longer become a burden... We are often faithful to emotions, feeling somehow owned by them, when in fact emotions depend on us. We need not cling to them or take them so seriously. They are energy movements, which would not exist if we were not here to witness them. This book aims to show that we need not label our emotions in any way. We need not regulate or police ourselves. We can relinquish suppressing something because we believe it is "wrong" to feel a certain way - this is all just conditioning. We can stop distinguishing between good and bad emotions, right or wrong feelings, feelings "I should have" or "should not have," what is "spiritual" or "not spiritual," and instead return to pure experience, which is untarnished by story-telling, resistance or personal attachment. From here we become aware of the deeper peace available prior to emotional movement, where emotions can not stick, which is also the source of all useful action.

Book Undisturbed REST

Download or read book Undisturbed REST written by Michael Stowe and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-05-07 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believe it or not, building an API is the easy part. What is far more challenging is to put together a design that will stand the test of time, while also meeting your developers' needs. After all, no matter how well written your code may be, without a strong foundation, you will find your API quickly failing. Undisturbed REST works to tackle this issue through the use of modern design techniques and technology, showing how to carefully design your API with your users and longevity in-mind, taking advantage of a design-first approach- while incorporating best practices and hard lessons learned. After reading Undisturbed REST, you'll have a strong understanding of APIs, best practices, and available tooling for designing, prototyping, sharing, documenting, and generating tooling (such as SDKs) around your API. More importantly, you'll be equipped to design and build an API not just for today, but one that can stand the test of time and lead your application into tomorrow.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hailed as “the finest depiction of the infamous Trail of Tears,” this unflinching novel sheds light on a tragic history (Pat Conroy). As the tribes of the South make the grueling journey across the Mississippi River, a trio of disparate characters is united by a “far-reaching story of love, courage, and honor” (Booklist). Greensborough, North Carolina, 1828. Abrahan Bento Sassaporta Naggar has traveled to America from the filthy streets of East London in search of a better life. But Abe’s visions of a privileged apprenticeship in the Sassaporta Brothers’ empire are soon replaced with the grim reality of indentured servitude. Some fifty miles west, Dark Water of the Mountains, the daughter of a powerful Cherokee chief, leads a life of irreverent solitude. Twenty years ago, she renounced her family’s plans for her to marry a wealthy white man—a decision that soon proves fateful. And in Georgia, a black slave named Jacob has resigned himself to a life of loss and injustice in a Cherokee city of refuge for criminals. From the author of Marching to Zion and One More River comes a sweeping novel of American history. As their stories converge in the shameful machinations of history, three outsiders will bear witness to the horrors known as Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Act—just as they also discover the possibility for hope. See why Library Journal raves, “This absorbing and vivid portrait of 19th-century America will attract serious historical fiction fans.”

Book Source to Sink Fluxes in Undisturbed Cold Environments

Download or read book Source to Sink Fluxes in Undisturbed Cold Environments written by Achim A. Beylich and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-07-07 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amplified climate change and ecological sensitivity of polar and cold climate environments are key global environment issues. Understanding how projected climate change will alter surface environments in these regions is only possible when present day source-to-sink fluxes can be quantified. The book provides the first global synthesis and integrated analysis of environmental drivers and quantitative rates of solute and sedimentary fluxes in cold environments, and the likely impact of projected climate change. The focus on largely undisturbed cold environments allows ongoing climate change effects to be detected and, moreover, distinguished from anthropogenic impacts. A novel approach for co-ordinated and integrative process geomorphic research is introduced to enable better comparison between studies. This highly topical and multidisciplinary book, which includes case studies covering Arctic, Antarctic, and alpine environments, will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in the fields of geomorphology, sedimentology and global environmental change.

Book Compressibility Characteristics of Undisturbed Snow

Download or read book Compressibility Characteristics of Undisturbed Snow written by Gunars Abele and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of snow temperature, rate of deformation, and initial density on the stress vs density and stress vs deformation relationships were investigated in the pressure range of 0.1 to 75 bars. The rate of deformation in the range of 0.027 to 27 cm/sec does not have a significant effect. A decrease in temperature in the range of 0 to -40C increases the resistance to stress and deformation, the temperature effect increasing with applied pressure and initial density. The effect of initial density is significant. For any stress, an increase in the initial density results in an incrase in the resulting density, particularly at low stress levels and at temperatures near 0C. The texture of artifically compacted snow is significantly different from that of naturally compacted snow of the same density because of the very short recrystallization time period.
