Book Sheets Collector s Edition

Download or read book Sheets Collector s Edition written by Brenna Thummler and published by Oni Press. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brand-new deluxe hardcover collector's edition of Sheets features never-before-seen content from the beloved graphic novel from Brenna Thummler. For Marjorie Glatt, being thirteen years old isn't quite the same as it is for everyone else. Responsible for running her family's laundromat while trying to survive middle school, Marjorie's daily struggles include persnickety customers, snippy classmates, agonizing swim lessons, and laundry... always, always laundry. Wendell is a bit different, too. Wendell is a ghost. His daily struggles include Dead Youth support groups and unavoidable stains. But when he escapes from the Land of Ghosts and bumbles into Marjorie's laundromat--the perfect ghost playground--his attempts at fun and friendship begin to harm the family business. Sheets is a powerful story about a young girl's perseverance, even when all the odds are stacked against her. It shows that forgiveness and second chances can result in unlikely friendships. Above all, it is an invitation into an unusual, haunted laundromat that brings family, friends, and--yes--sheets to life.

I fell in love with Nick Prince the day I started work as his PA, but I knew it would never work for two reasons: a) He was married, and b) his wife was my best friend. Boy, do I know how to pick 'em. So I ignored my feelings, and I got on with my life as best as I could. Then Olivia died, leaving us both devastated. Two years later, he's still grieving. I don't think he's ever going to get over losing her. He doesn't feel the same way I do, and he's never going to be mine. I don't want to spend the rest of my life waiting for him, and anyway, I have to leave. My sister is in trouble and needs my help - not that I have any money left to give her. I'm broke, and I can't afford to keep flying up to see her. I need to move closer to her, and keep her safe from her abusive husband. I go into Nick's office to hand in my resignation, and I discover him in a Santa suit. He's off to the local children's hospital to hand out teddies from his toy store. And then he points to the mistletoe hanging from his office door... I'm ready to move on with my life. It's too little, too late. I'm over him, and my priorities have changed. The last thing I want is a Christmas kiss from Saint Nick, even if the look in his eyes is anything but saintly. Oh... who am I kidding? Maybe just one before I go...

Book Between the Sheets Entangled Ignite

Download or read book Between the Sheets Entangled Ignite written by Genie Davis and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2014-02-24 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between the Sheets by Genie Davis and Linda Marr Erotic romance writer Jenna Brooks lives an ordinary life in a quiet Oregon town, putting her sensual heart into her fiction rather than her everyday life. Deeply involved in her latest story about glamorous lovers on the run, she laughs off a carnival gypsy's prediction that she'll find everything she desires "between the sheets"-apparently those her DeskJet is printing. Because suddenly, Jenna finds herself drawn into her own stories, literally. When the seductive, mysterious Riley Stone rescues her from an attempted hit and run, she's plunged into a reckless, wild relationship unlike anything she's ever experienced-except on paper. Meanwhile, Riley is feeling pretty upended himself. A consultant with the FBI, he's on a mission to derail a drug kingpin whose wealth and extensive real estate is managed by Jenna's neighbor. He'd planned to ingratiate himself with Jenna just enough to gain access to her neighbor's apartment so he can keep a close eye on the neighbor's comings and goings. Instead, he finds himself not only drawn to Jenna, but falling for her, hard. On the heels of this realization comes the discovery that her new neighbor didn't move in next door by chance: Jenna's father is the last holdout against a drug money fueled billion dollar development scheme, and her neighbor plans to take and hold Jenna hostage until the necessary papers are signed. As Riley struggles to keep Jenna safe, the romance they've woven could force them to pay the ultimate price: admitting they've fallen in love-for real.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the heels of I Am the Brother of XX and These Possible Lives, here is Jaeggy's fabulously witchy first book in English, with a new Peter Mendelsund cover A novel about obsessive love and madness set in postwar Switzerland, Fleur Jaeggy’s eerily beautiful novel begins innocently enough: “At fourteen I was a boarder in a school in the Appenzell.” But there is nothing innocent here. With the off-handed remorselessness of a young Eve, the narrator describes her potentially lethal designs to win the affections of Fréderique, the apparently perfect new girl. In Tim Parks’ consummate translation (with its “spare, haunting quality of a prose poem,” TLS), Sweet Days of Discipline is a peerless, terrifying, and gorgeous work.

Download or read book Queer Between the Covers written by Leila Kassir and published by . This book was released on 2021-05-12 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Queer Between the Covers presents a history of radical queer publishing and literature from 1880 to the modern day. Chronicling the gay struggle for acceptance and liberation, the book demonstrates how the fight for representation was often waged between the covers of books in a world where spaces for queer expression were taboo. The chapters provide an array of voices and histories from the famous, Derek Jarman and Oscar Wilde, to the lesser known and underappreciated, such as John Wieners and Valerie Taylor. It includes firsthand accounts of seminal moments in queer history, including the birth of Hazard Press and the Defend Gay's the Word Bookshop campaign in the 1980s. Queer Between the Covers demonstrates the importance of the book and how the queer community could be brought together through shared literature. The works discussed show the imaginative and radical ways in which queer texts have fought against censorship and repression and could be used as a political tool for organization and production. This study follows key moments in queer literary history, from the powerful community wide demonstrations for Gay's the Word during their battle with the British government, to the mapping of Chicago's queer spaces within Valerie Taylor's pulp novels, or the anonymous but likely shared authorship of the nineteenth century queer text Teleny. Queer publishing also often involved fascinating creative tactics for beating the censor, from the act of self-publishing to anonymous authorship as part of a so-called "cloaked resistance." Collage and repurposing found images and texts were key practices for many queer publishers and authors, from Derek Jarman to the artworks created by the Hazard Press. This is a fascinating and topical book on publishing history for those interested in how queer people throughout modernity have used literature as an important forum for self-expression and self-actualization when spaces and sites for queer expression were outlawed.
