Book Unadulterated Thought Mechanism

Download or read book Unadulterated Thought Mechanism written by Andersson Arte and published by Martin Karl Anderson. This book was released on 2024-07-25 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andersson Arte is young at heart but old in spirit. He has spent several lifetimes traversing this humble planet we call home: as a poet, a scholar, a distinguished gentleman with a golden voice gifted from the gods above. Andersson is Heaven-sent; a beautiful, sentient being with a pure heart who has been likened to Gandhi. But let not these words convince you of such; rather, allow the gentle caress of his voice to bring you to a state of untamed bliss, as he taps into your subconscious desires, convincing you of truths hidden beneath the surface of your incapacitated minds, which slowly rot as the establishment maintains control. Allow Andersson to expand your consciousness and accept our shared humanity through the expression of his inner conflict, which he expresses unashamedly, as he knows we are all, in fact, conflicted in our own way. However, with all being said, as you delve into the many facets of Andersson's complex personality, you will realise he has a great taste for the absurd; thus, not all of his creations are to be taken too seriously… And might I also mention, he feels great disdain toward those who refer to themselves in the third person.

As long as this is not done, the real nature of humanity cannot be uncovered.

Book The Evolution of the Sensitive Soul

Download or read book The Evolution of the Sensitive Soul written by Simona Ginsburg and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2019-03-12 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new theory about the origins of consciousness that finds learning to be the driving force in the evolutionary transition to basic consciousness. What marked the evolutionary transition from organisms that lacked consciousness to those with consciousness—to minimal subjective experiencing, or, as Aristotle described it, “the sensitive soul”? In this book, Simona Ginsburg and Eva Jablonka propose a new theory about the origin of consciousness that finds learning to be the driving force in the transition to basic consciousness. Using a methodology similar to that used by scientists when they identified the transition from non-life to life, Ginsburg and Jablonka suggest a set of criteria, identify a marker for the transition to minimal consciousness, and explore the far-reaching biological, psychological, and philosophical implications. After presenting the historical, neurobiological, and philosophical foundations of their analysis, Ginsburg and Jablonka propose that the evolutionary marker of basic or minimal consciousness is a complex form of associative learning, which they term unlimited associative learning (UAL). UAL enables an organism to ascribe motivational value to a novel, compound, non-reflex-inducing stimulus or action, and use it as the basis for future learning. Associative learning, Ginsburg and Jablonka argue, drove the Cambrian explosion and its massive diversification of organisms. Finally, Ginsburg and Jablonka propose symbolic language as a similar type of marker for the evolutionary transition to human rationality—to Aristotle's “rational soul.”

Download or read book Theodor W Adorno written by Gerhard Schweppenhäuser and published by Duke University Press. This book was released on 2009-04-06 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theodor W. Adorno (1903–1969) was one of the twentieth century’s most important thinkers. In light of two pivotal developments—the rise of fascism, which culminated in the Holocaust, and the standardization of popular culture as a commodity indispensable to contemporary capitalism—Adorno sought to evaluate and synthesize the essential insights of Western philosophy by revisiting the ethical and sociological arguments of his predecessors: Kant, Nietzsche, Hegel, and Marx. This book, first published in Germany in 1996, provides a succinct introduction to Adorno’s challenging and far-reaching thought. Gerhard Schweppenhäuser, a leading authority on the Frankfurt School of critical theory, explains Adorno’s epistemology, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, and theory of culture. After providing a brief overview of Adorno’s life, Schweppenhäuser turns to the theorist’s core philosophical concepts, including post-Kantian critique, determinate negation, and the primacy of the object, as well as his view of the Enlightenment as a code for world domination, his diagnosis of modern mass culture as a program of social control, and his understanding of modernist aesthetics as a challenge to conceive an alternative politics. Along the way, Schweppenhäuser illuminates the works widely considered Adorno’s most important achievements: Minima Moralia, Dialectic of Enlightenment (co-authored with Horkheimer), and Negative Dialectics. Adorno wrote much of the first two of these during his years in California (1938–49), where he lived near Arnold Schoenberg and Thomas Mann, whom he assisted with the musical aesthetics at the center of Mann’s novel Doctor Faustus.

Book Environmental Political Philosophy

Download or read book Environmental Political Philosophy written by Wojciech W. Gasparski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need for solutions to environmental problems is urgent. Expanded environmental research and knowledge, along with interest in environmental issues, has focused attention on the social, political, and practical aspects of environmental problems. Environmental Political Philosophy searches for common environmental goals, values, and policies in society. An essential undercurrent in political theory about the environment is that such issues are not questions of efficiency or technology. They cannot simply be addressed through knowledge of processes and mechanics of nature, by boosting or targeting research, or by allocating of resources and development of technology. Neither can they be resolved solely by increasing civic understanding and mounting environmental campaigns or requiring endless eco-friendly actions. A crucial element of environmental political philosophy is highlighted through the studies in this volume, which address the question of what constitutes efficient action or effective decision making. Praxiology commences with empirical orientation, but does so by maintaining the important sense that in the evaluation of actions and policies, ethical considerations must be employed in conjunction with effectiveness and efficiency.

Book Good Thinking Why Flawed Logic Puts Us All at Risk and How Critical Thinking Can Save the World

Download or read book Good Thinking Why Flawed Logic Puts Us All at Risk and How Critical Thinking Can Save the World written by David Robert Grimes and published by The Experiment, LLC. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Good Thinking is our best defense against anti-vaccine paranoia, climate denial, and other dire threats of today Publisher’s Note: Good Thinking was previously published in the UK as The Irrational Ape. In our ever-more-polarized society, there’s at least one thing we still agree on: The world is overrun with misinformation, faulty logic, and the gullible followers who buy into it all. Of course, we’re not among them—are we? Scientist David Robert Grimes is on a mission to expose the logical fallacies and cognitive biases that drive our discourse on a dizzying array of topics–from vaccination to abortion, 9/11 conspiracy theories to dictatorial doublespeak, astrology to alternative medicine, and wrongful convictions to racism. But his purpose in Good Thinking isn’t to shame or place blame. Rather, it’s to interrogate our own assumptions–to develop our eye for the glimmer of truth in a vast sea of dubious sources–in short, to think critically. Grimes’s expert takedown of irrationality is required reading for anyone wondering why bad thinking persists and how we can defeat it. Ultimately, no one changes anyone else’s mind; we can only change our own–and give others the tools to do the same.

Book Linguistic analysis of literary data

Download or read book Linguistic analysis of literary data written by Fareed Hameed Al-Hindawi and published by Anchor Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-15 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Literary data is supposed to reflect real life situations and is at the same time written in a style of writing that is considered as highly elevated. Such reasons have prompted the contributors to this book to deal with this type of data. Such attempts range from semantics to stylistics and pragmatics. This book introduces linguistic analyses of literary data from different points of view. This involves dealing with various linguistic topics and different types of literary data. Hence, many models are presented to analyze the linguistic aspects of those topics in the light of the genre in which those topics are undertaken. Accordingly, different results are yielded from those analyses and this makes each type of analysis distinct from the other ones. It is hoped that this work will be a useful source to all those – whether theoretically, practically, or both – interested in linguistics, pragmatics of literature, applied linguistics and literary stylistics.

Download or read book Down from the Trees written by Ralph D. Hermansen and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Down from the Trees: Man’s Amazing Transition from Tree-Dwelling Ape Ancestors covers the evolution of man from tree-dwelling ape to Homo sapiens as he is today. Using easy-to-read language, the author takes complex, jargon-filled material and extracts the essence of the topic and coveys it in a clear and engaging manner. He approaches the subject of human evolution from three different disciplines: fossil evidence and its interpretation, evolutionary theory and its applicability, and genetic evidence and its ability to unlock prehistoric information. The third discipline has advanced unbelievably in the last few years, and this book includes the most up-to-date research. There is nothing more interesting to humans than the story of their origins. The evolutionary process of a tree-dwelling ape becoming a walking, talking man who has developed the technology to walk on the moon, transplant hearts, or modify living things is no trivial story. This book provides a fascinating and comprehensive view of what science has learned of human evolution.
