Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To end a famine, the people of Qaralon have been driven to the stars in search of a good farming planet; now, the scouts have finally found one teeming with life. The problem is, its also teeming with humans, a stubborn species that doesnt give up without a fight. After fifty years of brutal war, Earth is trying to find balance, peace, and hope once again. Born and raised on his parents ship, the Universe Explorer, during the war, Jonathon Casey is a true child of the stars. Everyone assumes that he will run his own ship one day, but Jonathon had other ideas. He becomes a child therapist insteadbut he cant resist the call of the open skies for long and returns to space to protect the earth. But now that the fighting has ended, his attentions shift back to caring for the children of war, those innocents who have lost everything. Despite the best efforts to protect them, many are damaged, scarred, and lost. For those left behind, the government-run homes are far from a safe sanctuary. The kids do whatever they need to do to survive on the streets, and it is to this group of scrappy survivors that he was drawn. To bring his new dream to life, Jonathon pulls the old family spaceship out of retirement and recruits twenty boys from the streets for his new crew. Not even Captain Casey could have predicted what these young men were capable of when put to the test.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation New edition of a reference that presents the values of properties typical for the most common alloy processing conditions, thus providing a starting point in the search for a suitable material that will allow, with proper use, all the necessary design limitations to be met (strength, toughness, corrosion resistance and electronic properties, etc.) The data is arranged alphabetically and contains information on the manufacturer, the properties of the alloy, and in some cases its use. The volume includes 32 tables that present such information as densities, chemical elements and symbols, physical constants, conversion factors, specification requirements, and compositions of various alloys and metals. Also contains a section on manufacturer listings with contact information. Edited by Frick, a professional engineering consultant. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com).

Download or read book Lusternik Schnirelmann Category and Related Topics written by Octavian Cornea and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2002 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection is the proceedings volume for the AMS-IMS-SIAM Joint Summer Research Conference, Lusternik-Schnirelmann Category, held in 2001 at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. The conference attracted an international group of 37 participants that included many leading experts. The contributions included here represent some of the field's most able practitioners. With a surge of recent activity, exciting advances have been made in this field, including the resolution of several long-standing conjectures. Lusternik-Schnirelmann category is a numerical homotopy invariant that also provides a lower bound for the number of critical points of a smooth function on a manifold. The study of this invariant, together with related notions, forms a subject lying on the boundary between homotopy theory and critical point theory. These articles cover a wide range of topics: from a focus on concrete computations and applications to more abstract extensions of the fundamental ideas. The volume includes a survey article by P. Hilton that discusses earlier results from homotopy theory that form the basis for more recent work in this area. In this volume, professional mathematicians in topology and dynamical systems as well as graduate students will catch glimpses of the most recent views of the subject.

This book was released on 2013-09-23 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acupuncture and moxibustion are one of the most important contributions our ancestors have made to humankind. In the narrow sense, acupuncture and moxibustion refer to medical therapy, whilst broadly, they are an integral science consisting of four subdisciplines: the subject of meridians and acupoints, the subject of acupuncture and moxibustion techniques, the subject of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, and the subject of experimental acupuncture and moxibustion.
Download or read book Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine written by Shouchuan Wang and published by PMPH-USA. This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 939 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pediatrics in Chinese Medicine is different from any English TCM pediatrics textbook available today, and also different from standard TCM pediatrics textbooks as written in China. As an important part of TCM clinical medicine, the essence of TCM pediatrics emphasizes the overall concept of treatment based on pattern differentiation as associated with the interchange of yin and yang, integration of form and spirit, zang-fu organ and channel theory, formulas studies, and dietary therapy and nursing, all of which guide the clinical practice of TCM pediatrics. On the basis of traditional textbooks on TCM pediatrics, and in consideration of our readership, we have added extra material on acupuncture and Tui Na. In the process of selecting diseases, we have listed those for which TCM treatments are effective and distinctive, while also taking into account the worldwide incidence of childhood diseases. For the student’s convenience, the appendices include the dosages of Chinese medicinals and formulas, patent Chinese medicines for common pediatric diseases, an index of diseases names, and commonly used English and Chinese terms. We are sorry that the DVD content are not included.
Download or read book Costumes of Egypt written by Shahira Mehrez and published by IFAO. This book was released on 2000-12-31 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Costumes of Egypt: The Lost Legacies sums up decades of Shahira Mehrez's research: it is a four-volume work recording and tracing the origin of hitherto undocumented ways of dressing and jewelry of Egyptian women, most of which have today become obsolete. The costumes surveyed in this first volume establish the fact that irrespective of distant geographic locations, beyond religious and ethnic diversity, and throughout thousands of years of history and successive civilizations, Nubians, Nile Valley peasants, Bedouins and oasis dwellers, both Christian and Muslim, were heirs to the same legacy. Old and new emblems were melted into one tradition, defining a multifaceted but harmonious Egyptian identity. This tradition provides undeniable and tangible proof of the unity of the country and bears witness to the fact that throughout history these various communities were the different parts of a multicultural and pluralistic nation.

Download or read book High Order Large Eddy Simulation for Shock Boundary Layer Interaction Control by a Micro ramp Vortex Generator written by Chaoqun Liu and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2017-12-08 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents an implicitly implemented large eddy simulation (ILES) by using the fifth order bandwidth-optimized WENO scheme. The chosen method is applied to make comprehensive studies on ramp flows with and without control at Mach 2.5 and Re=5760. Flow control in the form of microramp vortex generators (MVG) is applied. The results show that a MVG can distinctly reduce the separation zone at the ramp corner and lower the boundary layer shape factor under simulated conditions. A series of new findings about the MVG-ramp flow are obtained, including structures relevant to surface pressure, three-dimensional structures of the re-compression shock waves, a complete surface separation pattern, momentum deficit and a new secondary vortex system. A new mechanism of shock-boundary layer interaction control by MVG associated with a series of vortex rings is also presented. Vortex rings strongly interact with air flow and play an important role in the separation zone reduction. Additionally, readers will learn about the governing equation, boundary condition, high quality grid generation, high order shock capturing scheme and DNS inflow condition in detail. This volume will, therefore, serve as a useful reference for aerospace researchers using LES methods to study shock boundary layer interaction and supersonic flow control.
