Book Handbook on Session Initiation Protocol

Download or read book Handbook on Session Initiation Protocol written by Radhika Ranjan Roy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 893 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), standardized by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), has emulated the simplicity of the protocol architecture of hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) and is being popularized for VoIP over the Internet because of the ease with which it can be meshed with web services. However, it is difficult to know exactly how many requests for comments (RFCs) have been published over the last two decades in regards to SIP or how those RFCs are interrelated. Handbook on Session Initiation Protocol: Networked Multimedia Communications for IP Telephony solves that problem. It is the first book to put together all SIP-related RFCs, with their mandatory and optional texts, in a chronological and systematic way so that it can be used as a single super-SIP RFC with an almost one-to-one integrity from beginning to end, allowing you to see the big picture of SIP for the basic SIP functionalities. It is a book that network designers, software developers, product manufacturers, implementers, interoperability testers, professionals, professors, and researchers will find to be very useful. The text of each RFC from the IETF has been reviewed by all members of a given working group made up of world-renowned experts, and a rough consensus made on which parts of the drafts need to be mandatory and optional, including whether an RFC needs to be Standards Track, Informational, or Experimental. Texts, ABNF syntaxes, figures, tables, and references are included in their original form. All RFCs, along with their authors, are provided as references. The book is organized into twenty chapters based on the major functionalities, features, and capabilities of SIP.

Book Appalachia on the Table

  • Author : Erica Abrams Locklear
  • Publisher : University of Georgia Press
  • Release : 2023-04-15
  • ISBN : 0820363375
  • Pages : 340 pages

Download or read book Appalachia on the Table written by Erica Abrams Locklear and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2023-04-15 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When her mother passed along a cookbook made and assembled by her grandmother, Erica Abrams Locklear thought she knew what to expect. But rather than finding a homemade cookbook full of apple stack cake, leather britches, pickled watermelon, or other “traditional” mountain recipes, Locklear discovered recipes for devil’s food cake with coconut icing, grape catsup, and fig pickles. Some recipes even relied on food products like Bisquick, Swans Down flour, and Calumet baking powder. Where, Locklear wondered, did her Appalachian food script come from? And what implicit judgments had she made about her grandmother based on the foods she imagined she would have been interested in cooking? Appalachia on the Table argues, in part, that since the conception of Appalachia as a distinctly different region from the rest of the South and the United States, the foods associated with the region and its people have often been used to socially categorize and stigmatize mountain people. Rather than investigate the actual foods consumed in Appalachia, Locklear instead focuses on the representations of foods consumed, implied moral judgments about those foods, and how those judgments shape reader perceptions of those depicted. The question at the core of Locklear’s analysis asks, How did the dominant culinary narrative of the region come into existence and what consequences has that narrative had for people in the mountains?

Book excerpt: The Pentagon is poised to begin development of a new generation of long range delivery systems. Such systems may be more dangerous than proposed improvements in nuclear warheads. At the same time, the gov¿t. is considering options for replacement of the intercontinental ballistic missiles that are the core of the U.S. nuclear arsenal. New delivery systems for nuclear weapons would involve many of the same technologies, from more maneuverable re-entry vehicles to improvements in guidance systems, that would be developed for long-range missiles carrying non-nuclear payloads. These technologies could provide the building blocks for new nuclear capabilities.

The child¿s interests are best served by staying with the family, even in times of war or misfortune, unless the home is abusive. Despite this widely accepted principle, increasing numbers of children are growing up alone. The cause of this epidemic is the acute poverty endured by millions of families in Africa, Asia, Latin Amer. & Central & Eastern Europe -- reinforced by causes such as warfare & the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Contents: What is the scale of the problem?; Experiencing growing up alone; Bolstering families; Programs for family well-being; Speaking out for children growing up alone; & A UK agenda for action.
