Book U5 the Truth Behind the Lives

Download or read book U5 the Truth Behind the Lives written by J. B. Torres and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-05-29 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written to provide insight on the lives of a group of inner city youths known as U-5. Hopefully it will provide enough of the insight needed to truly understand the type of lives they led, the way they were perceived by others, and the repercussions of events set in motion by the actions of individuals within the group. Furthermore, it will focus on two individuals within the group (Daniel Gomez and Rubin Fernandez aka Soni and Slick), the mystery surrounding their deaths and the repercussions that affected various members of U-5 up until this very day. It will take a look at how graffiti writers were/are portrayed by what we call society and go into what I believe are inconsistencies depicted within the book "Subway Lives." It will take you into the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn where it all started and twenty years later, today. It will follow them into some of their many escapades, some incomprehensible to believe, yet true. You'll get a true sense of the type of people they were, as friends, family and professionals tell us a little about them. Then you will be introduced to U-5 as not only a crew, but as a concept. A concept in which the U represents United, and friendship is more important than fame. This story is not just about the antics of these U-5 individuals. No, it's much more than that. Its about having to let go of the past and not just carrying on, but accepting it. And that could be harder than anything you've ever had to face. The mirror doesnt lie does it? What we believe is not necessarily reality, but whats reflected in the mirror is truth; like it or not. A wise man once said that between two men there are always three sides to a story, the first mans side, the second mans side, and the truth. Upon deciding to finish this book, the words of Dave Severn, a successful entrepreneur came to mind. He said Fear is the feeling you feel before you do something great. For myself, finishing this book will undoubtedly be one of my greater achievements. And you, that are holding this book, are about to read a great story.

Book Quality of Work Life During Pandemic

Download or read book Quality of Work Life During Pandemic written by Gitanjali Rahul Shinde and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-22 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is focused on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on different sectors, i.e., education, real estate, health, and agriculture. The lockdown has been announced to control the spread of COVID-19 infections, however people/industries/organizations were not ready for lockdown and it has greatly affected their growth. The front workers in the healthcare sector suffered a lot as major responsibilities they needed to carry on. The education sector is also hampered due to the pandemic as schools, colleges were closed and teaching, examinations were carried out on online platforms. These platforms were new to teachers as well as students. The real estate sector faced tremendous loss in this pandemic as people were scared and no one ready to invest their money in such an uncertain time. The agriculture filed is also suffered as raw materials required for agriculture were not available readily due to pandemic. This book presents a survey that is conducted to understand the impact of COVID-19 on the quality of work-life in various sectors. The survey is focused majorly on four sectors, i.e. education, healthcare, real estate and agriculture. Data analysis is done based on responses of survey and mathematical modeling is provided for each case study.

Empirical data from the last decade indicate the important roles of viruses, both in the evolution of all life and as symbionts of host organisms. There is increasing evidence that all cellular life is colonized by exogenous and/or endogenous viruses in a non-lytic but persistent lifestyle. Viruses and viral parts form the most numerous genetic matter on this planet.

Book The Catalyst RNA and the Quest to Unlock Life s Deepest Secrets

Download or read book The Catalyst RNA and the Quest to Unlock Life s Deepest Secrets written by Thomas R. Cech and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2024-06-04 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of Literary Hub's Most Anticipated Books of 2024 Exploring the most transformative breakthroughs in biology since the discovery of the double helix, a Nobel Prize–winning scientist unveils the RNA age. For over half a century, DNA has dominated science and the popular imagination as the “secret of life.” But over the last several decades, a quiet revolution has taken place. In a series of breathtaking discoveries, the biochemist Thomas R. Cech and a diverse cast of brilliant scientists have revealed that RNA—long overlooked as the passive servant of DNA—sits at the center of biology’s greatest mysteries: How did life begin? What makes us human? Why do we get sick and grow old? In The Catalyst, Cech finally brings together years of research to demonstrate that RNA is the true key to understanding life on Earth, from its very origins to our future in the twenty-first century. A gripping journey of discovery, The Catalyst moves from the early experiments that first hinted at RNA’s spectacular powers, to Cech’s own paradigm-shifting finding that it can catalyze cellular reactions, to the cutting-edge biotechnologies poised to reshape our health. We learn how RNA—once thought merely to transmit DNA’s genetic instructions to the cell’s protein-making machinery—may have jump-started life itself, and how, at the same time, it can cut our individual lives short through viral diseases and cancer. We see how RNA is implicated in the aging process and explore the darker depths of the supposed fountain of youth, telomerase. And we catch a thrilling glimpse into how RNA-powered therapies—from CRISPR, the revolutionary tool that uses RNA to rewrite the code of life, to the groundbreaking mRNA vaccines that have saved millions during the pandemic, and more—may enable us to improve and even extend life beyond nature’s current limits. Written by one of our foremost scientists, The Catalyst is a must-read guide to the present and future of biology and medicine.
