Download or read book The Discovery of Significant Oil and Gas Fields in the United States written by Richard Nehring and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A quantitative assessment of the ultimate conventional petroleum resources of the United States. Using a database listing all the significant oil and gas fields, the authors describe what has already been discovered, interpret why these discoveries happened when they did, and assess the remaining geologic prospects. U.S. petroleum resources are highly concentrated in a few major provinces and in a relatively small number of giant and large fields. Since the peaks in oil discoveries about 1930 and natural gas about 1950, both the number of discoveries and the amounts discovered have declined substantially. The authors conclude that most of the conventional petroleum that will ultimately be produced has already been discovered and made recoverable. Ultimate recovery will most likely be between 210 and 285 billion barrels of petroleum liquids and 920 to 1,090 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, as compared with known recovery of 175 billion barrels and 750 trillion cubic feet.
Download or read book Petroleum Accumulation Zones on Continental Margins written by Y. N. Grigorenko and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-11-07 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of the world’s petroleum is located on continental margins, and any further development of these offshore deposits would be impossible without new technologies and new methods contained in this volume. Written by some of the world’s foremost authorities on oil and gas, this volume explains for the practicing engineer and the engineering student some of the most important and cutting-edge techniques for developing offshore fields on continental margins.

Download or read book Forest Resources of Southeastern Texas written by James Walker Cruikshank and published by . This book was released on 1939 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The survey in southeastern Texas was conducted during the fall and early winter of 1934-35. Data on forest industries and timber drain for the calendar year of 1935 were obtained from a canvass of the wood-using plants and local wood consumers, supplemented by the lumber-production statistics compiled by the Lumber Code Authority for the National Recovery Administration. Present consumption and probable future trends in national requirements for timber and other forest products on a nation-wide basis and will be treated in a separate report.
Download or read book Applied Three Dimensional Subsurface Geological Mapping written by Daniel J. Tearpock and published by Pearson. This book was released on 2020-07-02 with total page 1657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gold-Standard “Bible” for Applied Subsurface Geological Mapping: Extensively Updated for Working Teams’ Latest Advances Long recognized as the most authoritative, practical, and comprehensive guide to structural mapping methods, Applied Three-Dimensional Subsurface Geological Mapping, Third Edition, has been thoroughly updated to reflect recent technical developments, with an emphasis on shale play basins, horizontal drilling, unconventional resources, and modern workflows. The authors of this edition have more than a century of collective experience in hydrocarbon exploration and development, in major, large, independent companies throughout the world. In this long-awaited update, they present revised and new chapters on computer mapping, shale basin exploration, and prospect reserves and risk. They introduce key innovations related to shale reservoirs, hydraulic fracturing, and deviated, horizontal, and directional wells, along with expanded discussions of computer interpretations and mapping. Throughout, the book links theory and practice based on fundamental geoscience principles. These principles will help you integrate all available geological, geophysical, and engineering data, to generate more reasonable and viable subsurface interpretations, and to construct maps that successfully identify reserves. Master core principles and proven methods for accurate subsurface interpretations and mapping Construct subsurface maps and cross-sections from well logs, seismic sections, and outcrop data Work effectively with horizontal and directionally drilled wells and directional surveys Use powerful well log-correlation techniques Construct viable fault and horizon structure maps Balance and interpret compressional, extensional, and strike-slip structures Distinguish between the different structure styles and the characterization of growth structures Understand isochore and isopach maps This book is indispensable for every integrated working team, consisting of geologists, geophysicists, and engineers, that prepares subsurface geological interpretations and maps, as well as for every manager, executive, and investor who uses or evaluates prospects.
