Book excerpt: Excerpt from Leaders in Typhoid Fever How to use our remedies I under stand him, for I have had but one case of hemorrhage in fifteen years, and aside from that one, not one that has run an unmitigated course. I am sure that under homceopathic treatment none will occur, and if they exceptionally do, we may blame ourselves and not our sys tem. I hope finally by this, as well as my former work, to inspire especially our young men in the profession to a closer study of our superb homoeopathic therapeu tics, to the exclusion of all other fruitless hunts after something better. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Typhoid Fever and Its Abortive Treatment The objects that are sought to be accomplished by the issuance of this book are: First, to present to the members of the medical profession so much evidence of the truth of the startling declaration that typhoid fever can be aborted as will induce a large number of physicians to give antiseptic medicine a fair and faithful trial in this disease - the most destructive to adolescent life of all of the acute specific infections - a disease which is both preventable and curable, but which is not only not excluded from, but has been practically invited to invade every community, and has hitherto been allowed to pursue its course uninterrupted by any scientific or efficacious treatment second, to give such explicit direc tions as will enable all physicians to so intelligently apply the principles of antiseptic medicine to the cure of typhoid fever that they may secure for their patients the least inconvenience and suffering, the shortest duration of illness, and the lowest possible death rate third, and finally, to impress upon the minds of the members of this medical profession the enormity of the crime which is committed by all communities that pour their excrement laden sewage into our fresh water lakes and rivers, in violation of all sanitary principles, of genuine humane ness and even of common decency; to the subversion of all efforts at the prophylaxis of typhoid fever, cholera, and other diseases. This book was released on 2017-07-23 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Homoeopathic Recorder, 1896, Vol. 11 Typhoid fever, unlike malarial, and many other fevers, is a preventable disease. Where there is perfect sanitation there can be no typhoid fever. It may be difficult to ensure this, but it is not quite impossible. At present persons in every grade of society are continually contracting the disease - none are ex empt. What is most of all to be regretted is the ignorant treat ment to which most of them are subjected. Light, in medicine, as well as in morals, has come into the world, but it would seem as if the people preferred darkness. This book was released on 2017-09-17 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The History, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Typhoid and of Typhus Fever I may simply say, here, that their authors describe, prin cipally, a fever, or form of fever, which is rarely met with in this country; and that they do not represent the actual state of our knowledge upon this subject. It must be regarded as especially unfortunate, that, until within a few years, the greater part of our information, relating to continued fever, has been derived from writers, who have treated, mostly, and under the same name as that gene rally used by ourselves, of a disease, or form of disease, differing, in many important respects, from that which is most common with us; and, that, in this way, so great a degree of confusion has been introduced into our notions of fever. Book The Treatment of Typhoid Fever

Download or read book The Treatment of Typhoid Fever written by James Barr and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-12 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Treatment of Typhoid Fever: And Reports of Fifty-Five Consecutive Cases, With Only One Death I trust it will not be supposed that in acceding to the earnest request of Dr. Burr that I should write a few remarks as an introduction for his book, I am at all under the impression that I can do so with authority, or, indeed, with any other object in view than to give a perfectly sincere expression to my regard for an old pupil, who has, in the course of years, and even according to the internal evidence in this work, arrived at a position so independent and so entirely his own, as no longer to require a recommendation. There was, indeed, one occasion since his studentship, on which it was possible for an old teacher to say an effectual word on behalf of Dr. Barr. A member of the House of Commons, forgetful of the restraints which, in an assembly of gentlemen, are usually considered essential in commenting on personal character, had allowed himself the privilege of making a violent and unfair attack on Dr. Barr in respect of a public duty thoroughly well performed, but which happened to be disagreeable to some of the honourable member's friends. The words might have been actionable, had they been spoken elsewhere than in the House. No one who knew Dr. Barr believed them to be true. But being thus spoken, the effect on the minds of his medical brethren in Liverpool was such, that a document, signed by 187 of them, was at once forwarded to the Secretary of State, as a perfectly spontaneous expression of the indignation felt by the signatories as regards this unprovoked and most reprehensible attack, and of their high appreciation of the character which had been thus injuriously assailed.
