Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Greyson Carteret has been sick for as long as he can remember. His life has been one surgery and invasive procedure after another, and nothing has helped. In fact, he seems to be getting worse, and he feels too miserable to care one way or the other. His father had apparently been unable to cope with his chronic illnesses and took off with another woman. As a result, his mother is the only one available to see to his care. Now, though, due to a family emergency, she has to go out of town. She doesn’t feel Grey can be left on his own, so when his doctor refers a home healthcare agency to her, she hires Dylan Morse to look after Grey. To his surprise, Grey is fascinated by the man. Dylan, who is taking a break from nursing by working as a home health aide, finds he likes Grey, and is saddened to learn the young man only has months to live. A friendship quickly develops between the two, and Grey regrets it isn’t likely to grow into anything more. However, Dylan is curious about Grey’s symptoms and by Mrs. Carteret’s insistence that her son only eat the food she’s prepared for him. Will Dylan discover the truth behind Grey’s numerous illnesses? Can their friendship become anything more if he can help Grey live to see his twenty-third birthday? NOTE: This story deals with issues of mental illness that some readers might find disturbing.

Book Two Week Window

Download or read book Two Week Window written by Kristy Wood-Giles and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2018-09-19 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an avid outdoorswoman with a passion for health and fitness, Kristy could never have imagined that she would lose everything she knew and loved on a hike that was meant to bring her peace. After setting up camp one night, she realized she was covered in ticks. One tick in particular would change her life forever. Eventually, Kristy’s mobility became impaired, and she experienced a significant loss of cognitive function. This, along with a host of other ailments, would lead her to seek treatment outside of the country. There she would learn about Lyme disease and the many other infections she had acquired. Kristy would soon discover that she had also developed other significant health issues as a result of being misdiagnosed. She would eventually decide that—due to the unjust treatment of Lyme patients by the medical community—she could either choose to be a victim or rise to the challenge. In an effort to heal on all fronts, she sought treatment, help, and support from multiple sources. Healing and enlightenment came to her in surprising ways. She would eventually learn a truth about herself that would turn her life upside down. Finding this truth would help her take control of her future and see every aspect of her life in a different light. This realization showed her a way of life that was more fulfilling than she had ever imagined possible. Kristy discovered that when you’re stripped of what seems most important in life, you have the ability to see things more clearly than ever before. She may be living with Lyme forever, but Kristy is thriving in life like she never dreamed possible.

Book Looking Forward to It

Download or read book Looking Forward to It written by Stephen Elliott and published by Picador. This book was released on 2004-10-16 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stephen Elliott does not know what to think of American voters, this year's desperate and heated run for presidency, or the legitimacy of the political system. He doesn't know whether to love John Kerry or try to love Howard Dean or try, simply, to get excited about Politics. But what he does know is that most Americans are as confused, taxed and broken-hearted as he is. Looking Forward To It is the chronicle of one ordinary fellow's skeptical -- and hilarious -- journey through the election process. It is on the campaign trail that he will meet washed-out campaign managers, idealistic publicists, corrupt journalists, world-weary auditorium janitors, recovering drug addicts, and, of course, politicians. His report documents a journey into the center of "the thing", our country, where Americans high and low come together to participate in the most profound gesture of democracy: the election.

Book Tackling nutrition in Odisha Looking back looking forward

Download or read book Tackling nutrition in Odisha Looking back looking forward written by Avula, Rasmi and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on 2020-12-23 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report explores the state of nutrition in Odisha, assesses how nutrition outcomes changed in the state, and more importantly, and examines the road that lies ahead of Odisha on the journey to support better nutrition for the state. Nutrition progress in Odisha: Odisha has made more rapid progress in reducing child undernutrition than many other richer states. Particularly between 2006 and 2016, nutrition and health outcomes improved significantly in the state. The prevalence of stunting declined from 45 percent to 34.1 percent, although there was a marginal increase in wasting from 19.6 to 20.4 percent and in severe wasting from 5.2 to 6.4 percent. In 2018, a further decline was noted in the prevalence of stunting (28.9 percent) and wasting (12.9 percent). Although anemia among women of reproductive age declined by 10 percentage points between 2006 and 2016, it is still high, with over half the women in the state suffering from anemia. Exclusive breastfeeding for children under 6 months of age is an area of progress, improving from 50.8 percent in 2006 to 65.6 percent in 2016; the prevalence of low birth weight, however, remained nearly unchanged during this period (Kohli et al. 2017). Emerging nutritional challenges, such as noncommunicable diseases, are likely to create new challenges in coming years.
