Download or read book Two Souls Collided written by Tanya Muftic and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2018-02-09 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anyone going through a transformation in life experiences deep feelings of loss, confusion, regret, and fear. However, the human spirit is resilient and capable of moving past challenges by letting the fear manifest itself to love. Poetry is the perfect outlet to illustrate the strength of human spirit. Each poem in this collection is a soulful prayer to the universe in gratitude and forgiveness. The poem Be My Muse was a call to her soul mate that she had not yet met. In fact, that poem was what caught the eye of her partner, Linda. If you are on a journey of transformation, forgiveness, and gratitude, you will relate to the poetry in this collection. It will uplift and encourage you to find your most authentic self. With all tragedies, the human spirit grows in strength and teaches us that our best friends are always deep inside us. As with all things, be grateful for all that you have. Miracles happen. Just believe. This is Tanya Muftics first published collection of poetry. Her writing tackles struggling with depression, the death of a parent, the trauma of having a child in a school shooting, going through divorce, and learning to forgive herself. Ultimately she falls in love with her true self and realizes she always had the power to triumph. The collection reads like a love story while celebrating the resilience and determination of the human spirit.

Download or read book The New One written by Mike Birbiglia and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2020-06-16 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With laugh-out-loud funny parenting observations, the New York Times bestselling author and award-winning comedian delivers a book that is perfect for anyone who has ever raised a child, been a child, or refuses to stop acting like one. In 2016 comedian Mike Birbiglia and poet Jennifer Hope Stein took their fourteen-month-old daughter Oona to the Nantucket Film Festival. When the festival director picked them up at the airport she asked Mike if he would perform at the storytelling night. She said, "The theme of the stories is jealousy." Jen quipped, "You're jealous of Oona. You should talk about that." And so Mike began sharing some of his darkest and funniest thoughts about the decision to have a child. Jen and Mike revealed to each other their sides of what had gone down during Jen's pregnancy and that first year with their child. Over the next couple years, these stories evolved into a Broadway show, and the more Mike performed it the more he heard how it resonated—not just with parents but also people who resist all kinds of change. So he pored over his journals, dug deeper, and created this book: The New One: Painfully True Stories From a Reluctant Dad. Along with hilarious and poignant stories he has never shared before, these pages are sprinkled with poetry Jen wrote as she navigated the same rocky shores of new parenthood. So here it is. This book is an experiment—sort of like a family.
Download or read book Playing with Color written by Annie Bellevue Kolte and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2021-10-27 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Playing with Color: Armchair Philosophy By: Annie Bellevue Kolte Annie Bellevue Kolte would classify Playing with Color: Armchair Philosophy as “word vomit.” Kolte employs a stream-of-consciousness style of writing to provide her the freedom to express herself through tangents that may or may not be related to the overall piece. Although coherent it may not be, it certainly makes for a compelling read, incorporating fiction, poetry, and insightful philosophies to keep readers on their toes. Kolte’s overall aim is to display her journey, to show that beginnings can be messy, shocking, inspirational, and thought-provoking. Armchair Philosophy is her first step into philosophical pursuits, sending the overall message that through perseverance, dedication, and love of writing, you can create something, even a messy something, but a something, nonetheless. Each beginning is difficult; no one is perfect at their first attempt, but Kolte places herself into the world to share her innermost thoughts and takes the first step towards growth and experience.

Download or read book An Intimate Collision written by Craig D. Lounsbrough and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of us live out flat, marginalized and ineffectual Christian lives. We fall achingly short of intimately connecting with and deeply interjecting the truths of scripture into the everyday realities of our lives, as we live them out amidst the incessant demands and tangled complexities of the 21st century. We therefore miss a sweeping and torrential infusion of what God intends for our lives. Because we miss it, we are left abysmally poorer when that need not be the case. An Intimate Collision arises out of the belief that people sense there to be a far greater reality to our portrayal of God and the Christian life than that which we have grasped.

Download or read book The Two Soul d Animal written by James Jaehoon Lee and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Two-Soul’d Animal illuminates an early modern debate that recognized the troubling extent to which Christian thought had defined the human in terms of two incompatible models of soul. As the sixteenth century progressed, Christian and humanist thinkers began to realize that these two souls fundamentally contradicted each other. On the one hand, Christian theology had a great debt to Aristotle’s tripartite model of the soul based on three organic faculties: intellection, sensation, and nutrition. On the other, the Christian soul was defined by its immortal, immaterial, and transcendental substance. The sixteenth-century acknowledgement of the two souls provoked a great deal of anxiety, leading Christian thinkers to ask: How can we, as God’s perfect design, have two redundant and yet contradictory souls? And how could the core of the religious subject possibly be defined by a psychological paradox? As a result, the “soul” was an intrinsically unstable term being renegotiated in Renaissance culture. The English writers studied in The Two-Soul’d Animal place two prevailing interpretations of the soul’s faculties—one rhetorical on the plane of aesthetics, the other theological on the plane of ethics—into contact as a way to construct a new mode of Christian agency.

Book excerpt: A love story about the almost crossovers of our lives... 1972. On a quiet summer night in Newcastle, Australia, two teenage girls must each make a choice: to act upon their desires or suppress them? To live an openly queer life or to try desperately not to? Over the following three decades, these girls grow into women and live out their decisions, always almost crossing paths at pivotal moments. In an era that spans Australia's first Mardi Gras and the AIDS pandemic, there is joy and grief and loss and desire for each of them – but will their lives ever collide? A Language of Limbs is about love and how it's policed, friendship and how it transcends, and hilarity in the face of heartbreak. A celebration of queer life in all its vibrancy and colour, this story finds the humanity in all of us and demands we claim our futures for ourselves. Perfect for readers who loved Chloe Michelle Howarth's Sunburn, Carol Rifka Brunt's Tell the Wolves I’m Home and Joseph Cassara's The House of Impossible Beauties, as well as fans of Pose, Call Me By Your Name and Angels in America.
