For the glossary I have naturally made constant use of the new bosworth-toller 'anglo-saxon Dictionary, ' also of Mr. Sweet's 'anglo-saxon Reader, ' the glossary to which contains an excellent selection of words. Grein's monumental Sprachschatz der angelsachsischen Dichter' has also been of the greatest service, especially with reference to the poetical passages in the Chronicle.
