Download or read book Interferometry written by W. H. Steel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1985-12-27 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enlarged and updated in 1983, this is the second edition of Dr Steel's popular textbook on interferometry. The text has been revised throughout and major additions have been made to reflect the phenomenal growth of laser techniques and applications. The book provides a general treatment that brings together the many different applications of the interference of light waves, light being used in its most general sense to include all electromagnetic radiation. The applications can cover precise measurement of length, the testing of optical components against a computed hologram, measurements of atmospheric pollution by infrared spectroscopy and many of the methods of radio astronomy and the measurement of size of visible stars. These apparently unrelated methods have a common theory, which the book presents and extends to each main field of application. It shows workers in one field how their problems relate to those in other fields, where they may have been solved already. The book will be found useful by anyone whose work involves one of the many applications of interferometric techniques.

Book High Resolution Spectra of CO2 in the 3500 to 3770 Cm 1 Region at 625 K

Download or read book High Resolution Spectra of CO2 in the 3500 to 3770 Cm 1 Region at 625 K written by Hajime Sakai and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes results obtained with an interferometer spectrometer of the absorption spectrum of CO2 at a temperature of 625 K. The hot cell used in the measurements is described in detail and low resolution emission data (2/cm) of CO2 at around 500 K are presented. The absorption spectrum from 3500 to 3770/cm of CO2 at 625 K to a resolution of 0.01/cm is presented as well as a simulated spectrum computed using the AFGL line compilation. (Author).

Book High resolution Spectra of CH4 in the 2700 to 3200 Cm 1 Region

Download or read book High resolution Spectra of CH4 in the 2700 to 3200 Cm 1 Region written by Hajime Sakai and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Idealab 2-m path-difference interferometer was used to obtain data of CH4 in the 1/2700 to 1/3200 cm region to a resolution of 1/.006 cm. Obtained spectral data are presented as well as the results of analysis to calculate line positions and strengths. A comparison of the present data with previously obtained data is also presented. The results of this study are tabulated using the format of the AFGL atmospheric line compilation. (Author).

Book Introductory Fourier Transform Spectroscopy

Download or read book Introductory Fourier Transform Spectroscopy written by Robert Bell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introductory Fourier Transform Spectroscopy discusses the subject of Fourier transform spectroscopy from a level that requires knowledge of only introductory optics and mathematics. The subject is approached through optical principles, not through abstract mathematics. The book approaches the subject matter in two ways. The first is through simple optics and physical intuition, and the second is through Fourier analysis and the concepts of convolution and autocorrelation. This dual treatment bridges the gap between the introductory material in the book and the advanced material in the journals. The book also discusses information theory, Fourier analysis, and mathematical theorems to complete derivations or to give alternate views of an individual subject. The text presents the development of optical theory and equations to the extent required by the advanced student or researcher. The book is intended as a guide for students taking advanced research programs in spectroscopy. Material is included for the physicists, chemists, astronomers, and others who are interested in spectroscopy.

Download or read book Highlights of Astronomy written by G. Contopoulos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year 1973 marked the highest peak of IAU activity up to now. Besides the Gen eral Assembly in Sydney, and the Extraordinary General Assembly in Poland, there were held eleven IAU Symposia and one Colloquium. Several IAU Publications cover this activity. The Proceedings of the Symposia are published in separate Volumes, while the Transactions of the General Assembly and of the Extraordinary General Assembly contain short reports of the Commission meetings, the administrative sessions, and the opening ceremonies. The present Volume covers some of the scientific Highlights of the General As sembly and of the Extraordinary General Assembly. It contains five Invited Dis courses given in Sydney and Poland, some selected papers, and the Joint Discussions at the General Assembly of Sydney. Of course, there were many more papers of special interest presented in Sydney that could not be included in this Volume. Their titles can be seen in the reports of the various Commissions. It is regrettable that the Invited Discourses of C. H. Townes (Interstellar Molecules) and F. J. Low (Infrared Astronomy) were not submitted for publication. Also only five papers or abstracts of the Joint Discussion on the 'Origins of the Moon and Satellites' have been available. Despite these minor shortcomings, I believe that the present Volume is faithful to its title: it gives a substantial part of the Highlights of Astronomy in 1973.
