Download or read book With One Heart and One Voice written by Fred Kimball Graham and published by Scarecrow Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The publication by John Wesley of the "Foundery" Collection (1742) marked the establishment of standards for tunes suited to Methodist hymn singing. Early Methodist hymn books in the United States contained words only, but they were cross-referenced with a leader's tune book, beginning with David's Companion (1808). "With One Heart and One Voice" reviews the trends surrounding the styles of tunes selected and analyzes the changes in shape and text for the most frequently used tunes in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Seventy six "core repertory" tunes are analyzed based upon their repeated appearances in most of the tune books published between 1808 and 1878, at which point Methodists finally obtained a hymnal with both words and music, after a half century of experimentation with tune selection. The conclusions reached in this work will allow scholars, hymnologists, and hymn singers to explore the social and musicological influences on hymn tune writing, how long it took for texts to acquire a "fixed tune," how tastes in hymn tunes change ever so slowly, and how many delightful tunes found in the core repertory of the 19th century have been dropped from today's repertoire.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is not a question that marriages today, especially in this country, are under attack. The sacred union between man and woman through the lenses of our nation has seemingly lost its value and respect amid a growing culture that has degraded its significance—this is an epidemic in its own right. Like-Minds: Two Hearts, One Mind, One God—Rediscovering the Value of Marriage is a book that attempts to act as a clarion call; to refocus man’s attention and heart back to biblical principles carried out by both husband and wife. God is the Creator of all things, including marriage. Like any creation, God has in Mind the purpose of the creation before He creates it. Minister Julien Folks passionately shares insight on helping young singles and married couples understand that God has a methodology in revealing His plan and purpose within His marriage covenant. Throughout this book, readers will identify one underlining principle: “How the marriage thinks as one in Christ propels them through every difficulty with a new perspective in God.” In his first book, Like-Minds: Two Hearts, One Mind, One God—Rediscovering the Value of Marriage, the author shares solid scriptural support, personal challenges, and experiences to outline the process and spiritual journey both husband and wife must commit to in ensuring an overall healthy, sustaining, and successful marriage. Join countless others who are rediscovering the purpose of marriage while learning practical and necessary tools to engage Two Hearts, through One Mind, in One God.

Almaas continues his study of the Diamond Approach to uncovering the many facets of our human potential We live in a world of mystery, wonder, and beauty. But most of us seldom participate in this real world, being focused rather on the parts that are mostly strife, suffering, or meaninglessness. The situation is basically due to our not realizing and living our full human potential. This potential can be actualized by the realization and development of human essence. The human essence is the part of us that is innate and real, and which can participate in the real world. Comprised of transcriptions of A. H. Almaas' talks to inner-work groups in Colorado and California, The Freedom to Be is the second installment in a five-volume series on the Diamond Approach.

Book excerpt: The Mending the Rift series King's Conquest The only way for Prince Rin to save his kingdom is to marry a king and bear a child, but will he survive his fate? In a world where two kingdoms are constantly at war, Prince Rin, heir to the throne of the Kari kingdom, has been demanded as a war conquest by King Merinej of Jeda. The prince must travel to his enemy's kingdom and share the king's bed, bearing him a child, or the war will continue. But the prince will not lower himself to what he sees as nothing but the title of a whore, so he demands a contract requiring the king to be faithful to him. After all, giving Merinej a child will threaten Rin's life. Even going into the marriage headfirst, Rin expected nothing more than a business arrangement. Instead, he receives affection, yet the more surprising realization is his willingness to give love back. However, the king cannot save Rin from those who wish him harm, and their union might be over before it can fully bloom. Owner of my Heart Can King Merin face his loss, save his husband and protect his kingdom, or have his enemies finally found a way to defeat him? When an enemy Merin thought defeated takes his unborn children away from him, he's at the end of his rope and still has to find enough strength to save his husband Rin from the clutches of sorrow. Unable to find peace, they must deal with an aggressor who plots to ruin any chance of happiness they might have. To make things worse, the newly united countries must prepare for a war against a vicious invading army that's using the weakened state of the kingdom for its benefit. How will Merin and Rin recover from their terrible loss and give their people heirs? Will the newly united countries work together as one to save Merin's kingdom—and his family—from the ongoing dangerous challenges? Can love truly push through all obstacles, or will their enemies discover their weaknesses and finally achieve victory?
