Book Twisted Leadership

Download or read book Twisted Leadership written by Charles C. Manz and published by Maven House Press. This book was released on 2017-09-19 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover a new way of thinking about leadership – learn how anyone, at any level of an organization, can be a leader. Today’s business, political, and not-for-profit worlds are plagued by a leadership disease – the overly simplistic view of leadership as something that resides in one person, or a few people, who influence lower-level subordinates. This wrong-headed view of leadership is dangerous – it fosters corruption, abuse of power, and the waste of human talent. Twisted Leadership offers a cure for this leadership disease. The book shows you that leadership is a dynamic, complex social process, not just a role occupied by an individual at the top. You’ll learn how to combine four practical strategies – self, super, shared, and socially responsible leadership – to create a new kind leadership that can be exchanged among all members of an organization based on the context, goals, knowledge, experience, or general needs of everyone involved. It’s the ultimate cure for the leadership disease. Learn: How the leadership disease was originally contracted what damage it can do Why today’s common approaches to leadership practice aren’t good enough How to view leadership as a process, not just a role How to use the four strategies of twisted leadership to treat the disease The book concludes with prescriptions to facilitate sustainable twisted leadership. You’ll discover how the lines between leaders and followers (who often know more and are in a better position to exercise leadership over themselves and others at key points in work processes) have become blurred. And after reading this book, you’ll see that a new kind of leadership has arrived, just in time.

Download or read book Twisted written by Bert Ashe and published by Agate Publishing. This book was released on 2015-06-09 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Twisted: My Dreadlock Chronicles, professor and author Bert Ashe delivers a witty, fascinating, and unprecedented account of black male identity as seen through our culture's perceptions of hair. It is a deeply personal story that weaves together the cultural and political history of dreadlocks with Ashe's own mid-life journey to lock his hair. Ashe is a fresh, new voice that addresses the importance of black hair in the 20th and 21st centuries through an accessible, humorous, and literary style sure to engage a wide variety of readers. After leading a far-too-conventional life for forty years, Ashe began a long, arduous, uncertain process of locking his own hair in an attempt to step out of American convention. Black hair, after all, matters. Few Americans are subject to snap judgements like those in the African-American community, and fewer communities face such loaded criticism about their appearances, in particular their hair. Twisted: My Dreadlock Chronicles makes the argument that the story of dreadlocks in America can’t be told except in front of the backdrop of black hair in America. Ask most Americans about dreadlocks and they immediately conjure a picture of Bob Marley: on stage, mid-song, dreads splayed. When most Americans see dreadlocks, a range of assumptions quickly follow: he's Jamaican, he's Rasta, he plays reggae; he stinks, he smokes, he deals; he's bohemian, he's creative, he's counter-cultural. Few styles in America have more symbolism and generate more conflicting views than dreadlocks. To "read" dreadlocks is to take the cultural pulse of America. To read Twisted: My Dreadlock Chronicles is to understand a larger story about the truths and biases present in how we perceive ourselves and others. Ashe's riveting and intimate work, a genuine first of its kind, will be a seminal work for years to come.

Download or read book Twisted Cross written by Doris L. Bergen and published by Univ of North Carolina Press. This book was released on 2000-11-09 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How did Germany's Christians respond to Nazism? In Twisted Cross, Doris Bergen addresses one important element of this response by focusing on the 600,000 self-described 'German Christians,' who sought to expunge all Jewish elements from the Christian church. In a process that became more daring as Nazi plans for genocide unfolded, this group of Protestant lay people and clergy rejected the Old Testament, ousted people defined as non-Aryans from their congregations, denied the Jewish ancestry of Jesus, and removed Hebrew words like 'Hallelujah' from hymns. Bergen refutes the notion that the German Christians were a marginal group and demonstrates that members occupied key positions within the Protestant church even after their agenda was rejected by the Nazi leadership. Extending her analysis into the postwar period, Bergen shows how the German Christians were relatively easily reincorporated into mainstream church life after 1945. Throughout Twisted Cross, Bergen reveals the important role played by women and by the ideology of spiritual motherhood amid the German Christians' glorification of a 'manly' church.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some of the questions asked and answered in THE YOUNG CHRISTIAN'S SURVIVAL GUIDE are “You claim the Bible is inspired because it says it is, right (2 Tim. 3:16)? Isn’t that circular reasoning?” “You claim the Bible was inspired, but there was no inspired list of which books that is true of. So how can we know which ones to trust?” “With so many different copies of manuscripts that have 400,000+ variants (errors), how can we even know what the Bible says?” “Why can’t the people who wrote the four Gospels get their story straight?” “Didn’ t the Council of Nicaea just arbitrarily pick the books for the Bible that they agreed with and suppress all the rest with political power?” “People used to believe in miracles because they didn’t understand science. Don’t we know better than that now?” “That a man rose from the dead takes a lot of believing. How could you ever have enough evidence for a belief like that?”. “Science has proved that human beings evolved over millions of years rather than being created in six days. Why are you still clinging to ancient myths?” “Just because the Bible is true for you, why does that make it true for me?” “How can you base your modern life on a book that was written for a primitive culture?” “Doesn’ t the Bible support genocide?”. “Doesn’t the Bible support racism?”. "Doesn’t the Bible support slavery?" “Doesn’t the Bible support homophobia?”. “Doesn’t the Bible support the oppression and abuse of women?”. “There are so many religions, all sincerely seeking the same goal. What makes you Christians so arrogant that you think yours is the only way?”. “What about those who have never heard the Gospel?”. “If God is a God of love, why did he let my loved one die?”. “How can it be just for God to impose an infinite punishment (Hell forever) for finite sins?” These questions will be asked and answered with reasonable, rational, Scriptural answers.
