Book Fate s Twisted Circle Vol 1

Download or read book Fate s Twisted Circle Vol 1 written by C.A. McJack and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-05 with total page 527 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An American soldier, Sergeant Abbey "McJack" finds herself recently widowed in the Iraqi war. Her life tour and her original career in aviation cut short. She had lost everything she held dear to her from the love of her life, to her ideals, her faith, and dealing with the world in general. Having no family of her own, her deceased husband's family already distant and mute, she is advised by a mutual friend and co-worker to take stock of her life and to take a trip abroad in order to find out what she wants to do with her new life. In her travels, she ends up in Ullapool finding the idyllic life much to her liking that she finds starting over much easier than she thought until she meets Gregory McGregor. For Greg, this new and attractive tourist piques his interest, though he is not the only one in the small town to notice her. He finds her weary from her tour of duty in the American-Iraqi war. He first assumes she is on military leave, for she barely talks about the past and keeps to herself on most occasions. In due time, he realizes they may have met before and is reminded of his promise for revenge. For she was the one to cost him nearly his life and for taking his brother's life, practically rendering his family apart. However, there was one small problem; he had become smitten with her. Did the faes of fate have a sick sense of humor or was God above to blame? Only time would tell, completing its full intricate weave on its circular path.

Book Cytoplasmic Genes and Organelles

Download or read book Cytoplasmic Genes and Organelles written by Ruth Sager and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cytoplasmic Genes and Organelles is about cytoplasmic genes: what they are and what they do. It applies the concepts and methods of cytoplasmic genetics to the problems of cell and molecular biology to which they can uniquely contribute. It shows geneticists the many attractive problems in this area awaiting their attention; cell biologists and biochemists the usefulness of cytoplasmic genetic analysis in their endeavors; and students the potential power of an integrated experimental approach using cytoplasmic genes together with the more conventional tools of biochemistry and electron microscopy in the investigation of organelle biogenesis. The book treats the following aspects of cytoplasmic genetic systems: (1) the properties of cytoplasmic DNA; (2) the genetic analysis of cytoplasmic systems; and (3) the functions of cytoplasmic genes in organelle biogenesis. The opening chapter summarizes the principal findings to provide readers with a bird's eye view of the subject. Subsequent chapters cover topics such as cytoplastmic DNAs; cytoplasmic genes in Chlamydomonas; mitochondrial genetics of yeast; cytoplasmic genes in higher plants; the role of mitochondrial genes in mitochondrial biogenesis; and cytoplasmic genes and cell heredity.

Book Geometry and its Applications in Arts Nature and Technology

Download or read book Geometry and its Applications in Arts Nature and Technology written by Georg Glaeser and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-18 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book returns geometry to its natural habitats: the arts, nature and technology. Throughout the book, geometry comes alive as a tool to unlock the understanding of our world. Assuming only familiarity with high school mathematics, the book invites the reader to discover geometry through examples from biology, astronomy, architecture, design, photography, drawing, engineering and more. Lavishly illustrated with over 1200 figures, all of the geometric results are carefully derived from scratch, with topics from differential, projective and non-Euclidean geometry, as well as kinematics, introduced as the need arises. The mathematical results contained in the book range from very basic facts to recent results, and mathematical proofs are included although not necessary for comprehension. With its wide range of geometric applications, this self-contained volume demonstrates the ubiquity of geometry in our world, and may serve as a source of inspiration for architects, artists, designers, engineers, and natural scientists. This new edition has been completely revised and updated, with new topics and many new illustrations.
