Book The Twelve Years of Christmas

Download or read book The Twelve Years of Christmas written by Rochelle Doan Craig and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-11-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Twelve Years of Christmas is not just a Christmas story. Its a journal of the first twelve years of one familys past events, happily recounted to all in those dreaded, ghastly annual Christmas form letters. Newlyweds Rochelle and Tom Craig moved to a farm in a friendly rural community to raise a crop of children. The family traveled and camped as often as Tom could be dragged away for it. After seventeen years of child-rearing, Rochelle returned to part-time elementary school teaching. She soon switched to full-time teaching with numerous grades and totally new subjects. Shortly thereafter, she began the dreaded Christmas card form letters, a practice that she mocks in The Twelve Years of Christmas. The letters cover the years between 1984 and 1995, explaining the changes in the lives of the Craig family and their pets. Rochelle also discusses the familys love of travel and the ever present threat of marital collapse, mostly due to the annual family practice of putting up the winter window-insulating film, the Christmas tree, and the snow fence together. This version of rural family life describes the fortunes (few), misfortunes (many), ups, downs, and in-betweens of each yearall tied up with lots of love and good humor.

Download or read book Twelve Hours Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old written by Suzy Giordano and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2006-01-19 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no bigger issue for healthy infants than sleeping through the night. In this simple, straightforward book, Suzy Giordano presents her amazingly effective “Limited-Crying Solution” that will get any baby to sleep for twelve hours at night—and three hours in the day—by the age of twelve weeks old. Giordano is the mother of five children and one of the most sought-after baby sleep specialists in the country. The Washington Post calls her a baby sleep "guru" and "an underground legend in the Washington area for her ability to teach newborns how to achieve that parenting nirvana: sleeping through the night." Her sleep plan has been tested with singletons, twins, triplets, babies with special needs, and colicky babies—and it has never failed. Whether you are pregnant, first-time parents, or parents who seek a different path with your second or third child, anyone can benefit from the Baby Coach’s popular system of regular feeding times, twelve hours of sleep at night and three hours of sleep during the day, and the peace of mind that comes with taking the parent and child out of a sleep- deprived world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wolf Blaser Jr., a native of Topeka, Kansas, grew up with a life that most would envy. He and his girlfriend were voted homecoming king and queen in his senior year, and he went to college on football scholarship. After earning a degree in engineering, he was hired by his father’s construction company. Like everyone, he had his ups and downs, but he never had any visions—until 2004, when he started seeing demons. Over time, his visions became more horrific. The demons always had similar features, with slanted eyes and horns sticking out on both sides of their heads. Most of his visions lasted for only a few seconds, but others lasted longer. Soon, he became convinced that others were listening to his thoughts. He began taking medication for depression and bipolar disorder, but he continued to suffer. Life became so bad that he eventually checked himself in to a hospital, giving its staff full authority to determine when he should be released. Join the author as he recalls battling bipolar disorder and fighting to reclaim his life in this powerful memoir.

Book Predator

  • Pages : 401 pages

Download or read book Predator written by Jack Olsen and published by Crime Rant Books. This book was released on 2020-05-28 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jack Olsen, "the master of the true crime book,"* now gives us an incisive, probing look into the creation and development of the criminal mind, as well as a shocking case of justice gone awry. From childhood, McDonald Smith took to heart the lessons drummed into him by antisocial relatives and peers. As a teenager, unburdened by conscience or pity, he experimented with child abuse and bestiality, then moved on to larceny, stickups, incest, and, finally, rape. Warned by a "witch" that he was about to be arrested, he fled Los Angeles for Seattle and the Northwest -- already the breeding ground of predatory monsters like Ted Bundy, Kenneth Bianchi, and the Green River Killer. There, for years, he stalked the women of Seattle, seeking his prey on the dark streets and in the quiet homes, then returning to his wife and family: too careful -- and too clever -- to be caught. By fall 1980, Mac Smith's luck still held. A respectable young businessman named Steve Titus found himself charged with one of Smith's most sadistic rapes in a nightmarish case of mistaken identity and injustice. The idealistic Titus was certain that the American system of justice would clear him -- right up to the day that a jury of his peers returned a verdict of guilty as charged. While Mac Smith continued to terrorize the women of Seattle, Titus lost everything: his reputation, his job, his loved ones, his freedom. It was only when a Pulitzer prize-winning reporter answered Titus's pleas for justice that the terrible truth emerged: a truth that was darker than anyone imagined. Predator is a gripping work of true crime reporting: Jack Olsen doing what he does best. It is a searing study of violations: of women, of justice, of power, and of the human spirit. *Jonathan Kellerman Review: With careful reporting that sticks close to the facts, Jack Olsen tells stories that seem straight out of crime fiction, and yet are all the more compelling for being true. This book focuses on three men--a criminal who preyed on women, a carefree partygoer who was wrongly convicted of the predator's crimes, and a reporter for the Seattle Times who won a Pulitzer Prize for tracking down the truth. It's supposed to be a rare event in the U.S. judicial system that someone this innocent gets screwed this badly. Even if it only happened to one person every decade, it would still be a horrible thing. And the smiling rapist, described as having a sweet "Jesus-like" countenance, knowingly allowed that to happen. Olsen not only delivers a real page-turner, but he ties up all the loose ends before the book's memorable and satisfying finale.

Book excerpt: Natalie Bowmann still has nightmares of her last encounter with Hunter Fowler twelve years earlier. Now, Fowler's back in town. When he was twenty, Hunter Fowler made a huge mistake. He's spent the last twelve years in prison paying for it. When he gets out of prison, the last thing he wants to do is go back to Sharp's Cove, but he has no choice. Natalie Bowmann isn't a frightened young woman anymore. She's the town's sheriff now and she's not going to let Fowler's return destroy the life she's built for herself. When another young woman is attacked, Natalie realizes two things: that twelve years earlier an innocent man was sent to prison and, most importantly, that a monster is loose in their peaceful coastal town. Will Hunter and Natalie be able to find him before he strikes again? What will they do with the growing attraction between them? This suspense romance book is intended for adult readers. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone romance. Warning: this book deals with dark topics, as one of the characters was assaulted years earlier and remembers the assault at several points during the story.
