Download or read book A Turtle s Tail written by Travis Cole and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-11-15 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To me, the book describes how people (especially young people) can set goals for themselves and achieve them if they are willing to work hard. Life is hard, and not everyone will support you in your goals. The moral of this story is that it doesn’t matter what other people think. If you work hard at accomplishing those goals, no matter how difficult they may be, then you can accomplish them. This story also shows that if you work hard, it doesn’t always mean that you will win. When Splash comes in second on the final heat, he is disappointed at first. It is only after the crowd starts cheering for him that he realizes what he has accomplished. In the end, it is about proving to himself and others that chasing after your dreams is all that matters. If you truly want something, you have to fight for it and don’t let anyone tell you any different. I also believe that children are often being taught that all you have to do to be successful in sports, school, life, etc. is show up. I believe that children need to be shown that it takes hard work to be successful, and sometimes that hard work may not be good enough, but that you always have to keep fighting for what you want and what you believe in.

Is it how they hide inside their patterned shells, their wizened faces, their slow determination? In Turtle Pond, a child and his parents visit their local public garden throughout the year, observing the turtles as they play, dive, feed, bask, climb, hide and doze. James Gladstone’s lively prose poem reveals the pleasure and curiosity that come from spending time with the turtles. Karen Reczuch’s stunningly beautiful illustrations accurately portray these extraordinary creatures, both in and out of the water, surrounded by lush plants and the changing seasons beyond the greenhouse windows. Book excerpt: The author and Daoist monk shares a beautiful depiction of the natural world—and a powerful plea for preserving our planet—in this philosophical tale. This unique work of philosophical fiction explores the wonders and suffering of the world through the eyes of eighteen exotic turtles. In this vividly imaginative way, Monk Yun Rou asks readers to consider the intimate bond between humans and animals: the wisdom they teach us, the wounds they can heal, and the role we play in their destruction. Drawing on fifty years of loving and husbanding turtles, from the car-sized giant Leatherback turtle to the Central Asian tortoise, Monk Yun Rou sounds the alarm of what climate change, global extinction, human intervention, and environmental devastation really mean to their worlds and to ours. An informational glossary and description of each turtle is provided at the end of the book.
