This book was released on 2013-02-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Hybrid Vehicles written by BADIN François and published by Editions TECHNIP. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 526 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fast growth in world population and the associated energy requirements, the announced depletion of fossil fuel resources, the continuing rise in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with the induced climatic changes represent some of the major challenges to be taken up in the coming years and decades. Hybridization therefore typically represents a transition technology which can significantly improve the energy and environmental performance of current vehicles, without radically changing their use typologies, while opening the way to new propulsion modes for the longer term. It is nevertheless a complex subject requiring a multidisciplinary approach. This book, which is intended to be exhaustive, considers the vehicle, its components, their association and their control, as well as the global balances determined over the vehicle lifetime. It starts with a general presentation of the various conditions of use of vehicles, to give readers an understanding of the stakes related to the development of hybrid vehicles and the methods used to compare the performance of the various solutions. The principles and the various types of internal combustion engine and electrical drives, onboard energy storage systems, principles, architectures, specific components and operation of hybrid drivetrains, as well as the energy management in these vehicles, are developed. A global analysis of the various drivetrains life cycle assessment (LCA), total costs and availability of sensitive materials is also provided. This book is intended for everyone involved in the design, manufacture and implementation of hybrid drive vehicles and their components. It will also be of interest to students, teachers and researchers wishing to acquire or further their knowledge in all fields impacted by drivetrain electrification. More globally, after consulting this book, readers will be in a position to evaluate the technologies related to the concept of drivetrain hybridization, their implementation, balances and generalization conditions. Book Mathematical Modelling of Sediment Transport and Deposition in Reservoirs Guidelines and Case Studies Mod lisation Math matique du Transport et des D p ts de S diments dans les R servoirs Lignes Directrices et tudes de Cas

Download or read book Mathematical Modelling of Sediment Transport and Deposition in Reservoirs Guidelines and Case Studies Mod lisation Math matique du Transport et des D p ts de S diments dans les R servoirs Lignes Directrices et tudes de Cas written by Cigb Icold and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-06-27 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As reservoir sedimentation has proven to be a serious problem in South Africa, research in this field has been ongoing for more than 70 years. This publication emanates from extensive research which has been undertaken over the past 30 years with the support of the South African Department of Water and Sanitation as well as the South African Water Research Commission. A great deal of information has fortunately also been obtained from China. Given the universal nature of hydraulic formulae it is not surprising, yet gratifying, that Chinese and South African data generally conform to the same mathematical relationships. This indicates that these relationships should be applicable in other countries as well. Much of the information contained here has been condensed from a more comprehensive publication. This ICOLD Bulletin follows on Bulletin 115 “Dealing with reservoir sedimentation”, which gave guidelines for management of reservoirs to limit sedimentation. The guidelines on mathematical modelling of sediment transport dynamics in reservoirs in this document can be used during the planning and design of new dams, as well as for the management of existing dams.

Download or read book Soils as a Key Component of the Critical Zone 1 written by Jacques Berthelin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-01 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This introductory book to the six volume series includes an introduction defining the critical zone for mankind that extends from tree canopy and the lower atmosphere to water table and unweathered rock. Soils play a crucial role through the functions and the services that they provide to mankind. The spatial and temporal variability of soils is represented by information systems whose importance, recent evolutions and increasingly performing applications in France and in the world must be underlined. The soil functions, discussed in this book, focus on the regulation of the water cycle, biophysicochemical cycles and the habitat role of biodiversity. The main services presented are those related to the provision of agricultural, fodder and forest products, energy, as well as materials and the role of soil as infrastructure support. They also include the different cultural dimensions of soils, their representations being often linked to myths and rites, as well as their values of environmental and archaeological records. Finally, the issue is raised of an off-ground world.

Book Rapid Prototyping Software for Avionics Systems

Download or read book Rapid Prototyping Software for Avionics Systems written by Nicolas Larrieu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-12-03 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design, implementation and validation of avionics and aeronautical systems have become extremely complex tasks due to the increase of functionalities that are deployed in current avionics systems and the need to be able certify them before putting them into production. This book proposes a methodology to enable the rapid prototyping of such a system by considering from the start the certification aspects of the solution produced. This method takes advantage of the model-based design approaches as well as the use of formal methods for the validation of these systems. Furthermore, the use of automatic software code generation tools using models makes it possible to reduce the development phase as well as the final solution testing. This book presents, firstly, an overview of the model-based design approaches such as those used in the field of aeronautical software engineering. Secondly, an original methodology that is perfectly adapted to the field of aeronautical embedded systems is introduced. Finally, the authors illustrate the use of this method using a case study for the design, implementation and testing of a new generation aeronautical router.
