Nous abordons ce problème comme étant un problème de structure sollicitée en thermoélasticité dynamique couplée. Aprés avoir rapplé dans le premier chapitre les équations d'ondes thermoélastiques dans un milieu continu ainsi que les milieux fissurés (singularité), nous présentons dans le deuxième chapitre une formation variationnelle du problème pour des structures planes pouvant contenir une fissure fixe. Le calcul numèrique de ce problème d'évolution par la méthode des éléments finis fait l'objet du chapitre 3 pour la résolution temporelle, et du chapitre 4 pour la résolution dans l'espace des fréquences (transformée de Fourier). Le chapitre 5 contient, quant à lui, des structures en l'Udimet 500 avec comparaison à des résultats expérimentaux obtenus par ailleurs.

Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this jOint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 40 (thesis year 1995) a total of 10,746 thesis titles from 19 Canadian and 144 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 40 reports theses submitted in 1995, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book excerpt: Dans le cadre de cette thèse, nos efforts se sont portés, pendant trois ans, sur quatre objectifs: 1) calcul du facteur d'intensité de contraintes en fatigue vibratoire à température ambiante et à haute température par la méthode des éléments finis; 2) essais et analyses de fissuration à température ambiante et a haute température en fatigue vibratoire et en fatigue conventionnelle; 3) pilotage de la machine d'essai par un micro-ordinateur IBM ps/2; 4) conception et réalisation d'un nouveau système d'essai pour la superposition de la fatigue vibratoire a une charge moyenne non nulle. Les études en fatigue vibratoire nous permettent de tirer les conclusions suivantes: en fatigue vibratoire, le calcul du facteur d'intensité de contraintes est caractérisé par l'amplitude de vibration, non par la contrainte nominale. En fatigue vibratoire, l'effet de la fermeture de la fissure est plus faible qu'en fatigue conventionnelle grâce à la relaxation des contraintes résiduelles en tête de fissure. Dans nos études, la fréquence de sollicitation est très importante 20 kHz, mais elle ne provoque pas une chaleur telle qu'un changement de la vitesse de propagation de la fissure soit observé. Le mécanisme de fissuration en fatigue vibratoire est semblable a celui de la fatigue conventionnelle. à haute température, l'oxydation peut ralentir la propagation d'une fissure au voisinage du seuil a une charge faible quand la température est assez élevée
