L'ETUDE EST CENTREE PRINCIPALEMENT SUR LES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES INCOMPRESSIBLES INHOMOGENES ET LES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES COMPRESSIBLES ISENTROPIQUES. LA PREMIERE PARTIE EST CONSACREE AUX EQUATIONS DIFFERENTIELLES ORDINAIRES ASSOCIEES A DES CHAMPS DE VECTEURS A COEFFICIENTS IRREGULIERS, TYPIQUEMENT A DERIVEES INTEGRABLES. R.J. DI PERNA ET P.-L. LIONS ONT ETE PIONNIERS DANS L'ETUDE DE CHAMPS DE VECTEURS A REGULARITE W#1#,#1 ET A DIVERGENCE BORNEE, EN MONTRANT L'EXISTENCE ET L'UNICITE D'UN FLOT X VERIFIANT LA PLUPART DES PROPRIETES DES FLOTS DE CHAMPS DE VECTEURS REGULIERS, VALABLES CEPENDANT POUR PRESQUE TOUT POINT INITIAL. L'OBJET DE LA PREMIERE PARTIE EST D'ETENDRE CETTE THEORIE A DES CHAMPS A DIVERGENCE NON BORNEE. LA PREUVE REPOSE SUR LA METHODE DES SOLUTIONS RENORMALISEES POUR LES EQUATIONS DE TRANSPORT, INTRODUITES PAR R.J. DI PERNA ET P.-L. LIONS. DANS LA CONTINUITE DES RESULTATS PRECEDENTS, ON MONTRE D'AUTRE PART UN THEOREME D'EXISTENCE DE SOLUTIONS PLUS FORTES CORRESPONDANT A DES DONNEES INITIALES DANS W#1#,#M (M > 1) POUR #T +B.* = 0, LE CHAMP DE VECTEURS B ASSOCIE ETANT SUPPOSE DE REGULARITE SOBOLEV W#S#+#1#,#P AVEC SP = N. CES RESULTATS SONT ENSUITE APPLIQUES A UNE PREUVE D'UNICITE DES SOLUTIONS DES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES INCOMPRESSIBLES INHOMOGENES EN DIMENSION 2. DANS LA DEUXIEME PARTIE DE CE TRAVAIL, ON S'INTERESSE A DES MODELES DE FLUIDES INCOMPRESSIBLES. ON CONSIDERE UNE FAMILLE DE FLUIDES INCOMPRESSIBLES NON MISCIBLES INDEXES PAR 1,..., M DANS UN OUVERT DE R#N (N 2). CES FLUIDES SONT CARACTERISES PAR LEUR DENSITE I#1IM ET LEUR VISCOSITE #I#1##IM. LE PREMIER CHAPITRE TRAITE DES QUESTIONS D'EXISTENCE GLOBALE DE SOLUTIONS FAIBLES POUR LES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES INCOMPRESSIBLES LORSQUE LE DOMAINE EST NON BORNE. ON ETUDIE ENSUITE LA REGULARITE DES ECOULEMENTS PLANS MULTIPHASIQUES, EN ENONCANT LES RESULTATS EN FONCTION DE LA DISPERSION RELATIVE DES VISCOSITES, TOUT EN TENANT COMPTE DE L'EVENTUELLE PRESENCE DE POCHES DE VIDE DANS LE MILIEU FLUIDE. LE TROISIEME CHAPITRE EST CONSACRE A QUELQUES REMARQUES SUR LA REGULARITE DES SOLUTIONS FAIBLES D'UNE EQUATION ISSUE D'UN MODELE SIMPLIFIE DE MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIQUE, COUPLANT LES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES INCOMPRESSIBLES ET LES EQUATIONS DE MAXWELL. ENFIN, ON ETUDIE LES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES MODELISANT L'EVOLUTION D'UN FLUIDE COMPRESSIBLE ISENTROPIQUE. LES TRAVAUX DE P.-L. LIONS ASSURENT L'EXISTENCE GLOBALE EN TEMPS DE SOLUTIONS FAIBLES SOUS CERTAINES HYPOTHESES SUR LA LOI DE PRESSION. EN DIMENSION N = 2 OU 3, ON PEUT MONTRER DES RESULTATS DE REGULARITE EN TEMPS PETIT POUR DES DENSISTES INITIALES S'ANNULANT. LORSQUE N = 2, ON OBTIENT DES RESULTATS GLOBAUX EN TEMPS, SOUS RESERVE QUE LA DENSITE RESTE BORNEE. ON UTILISE POUR CELA UNE ESTIMATION LOGARITHMIQUE, DEMONTREE DANS LE CONTEXTE DES MODELES INCOMPRESSIBLES PRECEDEMMENT CITES. DANS LE SECOND CHAPITRE, ON ANALYSE LA REGULARITE DES SOLUTIONS FAIBLES EN DIMENSION N 2, EN MONTRANT UNE ESTIMATION A PRIORI QUI DONNE DES RENSEIGNEMENTS SUR LA REGULARITE EN TEMPS DU CHAMP DES VITESSES.

Download or read book Hydrodynamic Instabilities written by François Charru and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-06-30 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The instability of fluid flows is a key topic in classical fluid mechanics because it has huge repercussions for applied disciplines such as chemical engineering, hydraulics, aeronautics, and geophysics. This modern introduction is written for any student, researcher, or practitioner working in the area, for whom an understanding of hydrodynamic instabilities is essential. Based on a decade's experience of teaching postgraduate students in fluid dynamics, this book brings the subject to life by emphasizing the physical mechanisms involved. The theory of dynamical systems provides the basic structure of the exposition, together with asymptotic methods. Wherever possible, Charru discusses the phenomena in terms of characteristic scales and dimensional analysis. The book includes numerous experimental studies, with references to videos and multimedia material, as well as over 150 exercises which introduce the reader to new problems.

Book Instabilities Chaos and Turbulence

Download or read book Instabilities Chaos and Turbulence written by Paul Manneville and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book (2nd edition) is a self-contained introduction to a wide body of knowledge on nonlinear dynamics and chaos. Manneville emphasises the understanding of basic concepts and the nontrivial character of nonlinear response, contrasting it with the intuitively simple linear response. He explains the theoretical framework using pedagogical examples from fluid dynamics, though prior knowledge of this field is not required. Heuristic arguments and worked examples replace most esoteric technicalities. Only basic understanding of mathematics and physics is required, at the level of what is currently known after one or two years of undergraduate training: elementary calculus, basic notions of linear algebra and ordinary differential calculus, and a few fundamental physical equations (specific complements are provided when necessary). Methods presented are of fully general use, which opens up ample windows on topics of contemporary interest. These include complex dynamical processes such as patterning, chaos control, mixing, and even the Earth's climate. Numerical simulations are proposed as a means to obtain deeper understanding of the intricacies induced by nonlinearities in our everyday environment, with hints on adapted modelling strategies and their implementation.

Book Generalized Feynman Amplitudes AM 62 Volume 62

Download or read book Generalized Feynman Amplitudes AM 62 Volume 62 written by Eugene R. Speer and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a valuable discussion of renormalization through the addition of counterterms to the Lagrangian, giving the first complete proof of the cancellation of all divergences in an arbitrary interaction. The author also introduces a new method of renormalizing an arbitrary Feynman amplitude, a method that is simpler than previous approaches and can be used to study the renormalized perturbation series in quantum field theory.

Book Continuum Thermomechanics

Download or read book Continuum Thermomechanics written by Gérard A. Maugin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contributed by world-renowned specialists on the occasion of Paul Germain's 80th birthday, this unique book reflects the foundational works and the intellectual influence of this author. It presents the realm of modern thermomechanics with its extraordinary wealth of applications to the behaviour of materials, whether solid or fluid. The thirty-one contributions follow an easygoing autobiographical sketch by Paul Germain, and highlight the power and richness of a methodological approach to the phenomenology of many materials. This approach combines harmoniously thermodynamics and continuum theory in order to provide exploitable, thermodynamically admissible models of a large variety of behaviours and phenomena, including those of diffusion, thermoelasticity, viscoplasticity, relaxation, hysteresis, wetting, shape-memory effects, growth, phase transitions, stability, fracture, shocks, machining of materials, microstructured solids, complex fluids, etc. Especially aimed at graduate students, researchers, and engineers in mechanical engineering and materials science, this book also presents the state of the art in an active field of research and opens new horizons in other scientific fields, such as applied mathematics and applied physics, because of the intellectual satisfaction and remarkable efficiency provided by the advocated approach.
