Book excerpt: Be Wealthy! Do you want to be truly wealthy? Did you ever wonder why most of the financial tips and advice you read about do not work? And why when you pay down one debt another just pops up? It’s because the root of the financial problem needs to be identified and corrected. In order to be wealthy, you must first fix the root of the problem. Using common sense and applying sound principles will help you build wealth no matter your income. You don’t have to be a millionaire to be wealthy. When I was a teenager working at a restaurant, I was wealthier than many people making six-figure salaries. By using common sense principles, I have built wealth over the years and am now wealthier than many multimillionaires. This book will show you how to quickly apply basic principles to become wealthy by using an easy and practical approach.

Book Fundraising and Strategic Planning

Download or read book Fundraising and Strategic Planning written by Juilee Decker and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundraising and Strategic Planning: Innovative Approaches for Museums appraises strategies museums employ to raise funds including admission prices, membership categories, donor and affinity groups, and specialized event-driven efforts while examining new crowdfunding models such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Piggybackr. This book examines a range of ambitious undertakings and the means by which museums and cultural organizations achieve them. Each of the case studies in this volume focuses on the cornerstones to museum operations: strategic planning and fundraising. For example, Carl G. Hamm describes how Saint Louis Art Museum moved from a capital campaign into a sustainable stream of increased annual giving. Vicky U. Lee narrates the transformation of abandoned, elevated rail yards into an exciting, well-travelled (and highly-tagged and pinned) public amenity, the High Line. While not a museum per se, the High Line and its public art amenities offers much to the story of collecting institutions, as well as to the framework of the public-private partnership. The Innovative Approaches for Museums series offers case studies, written by scholars and practitioners from museums, galleries, and other institutions, that showcase the original, transformative, and sometimes wholly re-invented methods, techniques, systems, theories, and actions that demonstrate innovative work being done in the museum and cultural sector throughout the world. The authors come from a variety of institutions—in size, type, budget, audience, mission, and collection scope. Each volume offers ideas and support to those working in museums while serving as a resource and primer, as much as inspiration, for students and the museum staff and faculty training future professionals who will further develop future innovative approaches. Contributions by: Karen Coutts, Mike Deetsch, Nancy Enterline, Karen Gillenwater, Amy Gilman, Carl G. Hamm, Greg Hardison, Jill Hartz, Peter J. Kim, Vicky U. Lee, James G. Leventhal, Melissa A. Russo, and Irina Zeylikovich

Book FAITH HOPE AND DETERMINATION

Download or read book FAITH HOPE AND DETERMINATION written by DANIEL J. THERON M.A.,Th./Ph.D and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-03 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers will greatly benefit reading this book's forerunner SO MUCH WATER SO LITTLE WOOD for they play in contrasting milieus of maladministration and usually well administered milieus of the financial and other worlds. The American Association of Universty Professors deserves praise for its penetrating light on that book's milieu benefitting employees and other educational institutions for future years. Professions have their unique vocabulary and idioms of wisdom as does the investment business. Its truth will be summarized. Business flourished for me. Ruth and I could vacation and travel - a more pleasant life. Sorrow struck. Ruth had developed small brain aneurysms and died within four days. Two and a half years later I married Janice Seybolt Morton, a widow with two young daughters. Life went on. And Princeton Seminary? Purposely locked in a forget corner. Then my phone rang. The same student who wanted a copy of my prayer decades ago, now Seminary Archivist, looked for my file, but it was forever assigned to trash. "I still have your prayer," he said. He came for three days, asking questions and recording my answers. He unlocked the corner. I had portraits of five deceased, outstanding former colleagues at Princeton painted for the Seminary, and eventually established endowments for scholarships and distribution of Bibles in South Africa, together with liberal contributions for a new library. Graciously the Seminary dedicated a lecture room in the new library for me on October 22, 2013. This book fulfills my dream of tribute to several of my friends at Pretoria University dedicating their lives to the Kingdom of God. They are all long gone now, one fifty years ago in 2013, but to all applies the inscription on Johannes Petrus Potgieter's grave stone at his mission station Rivoni: "THOU THEY WERE DEAD, YET SHALL THEY LIVE."

Book excerpt: The James Beard Award–winning chef of Underbelly Hospitality, a champion of Houston’s diverse immigrant cooks—Vietnamese, Korean, Mexican, Indian, and more—shows you how to work with their flavors and cultures with respect and creativity. JAMES BEARD AWARD FINALIST Houston’s culinary reputation as a steakhouse town was put to rest by Chris Shepherd, the Robb Report’s Best Chef of the Year. A cook with insatiable curiosity, he’s trained not just in fine-dining restaurants but in Houston’s Korean grocery stores, Vietnamese noodle shops, Indian kitchens, and Chinese mom-and-pops. His food, incorporating elements of all these cuisines, tells the story of the city, and country, in which he lives. An advocate, not an appropriator, he asks his diners to go and visit the restaurants that have inspired him, and in this book he brings us along to meet, learn from, and cook with the people who have taught him. The recipes include signatures from his restaurant—favorites such as braised goat with Korean rice dumplings, or fried vegetables with caramelized fish sauce. The lessons go deeper than recipes: the book is about how to understand the pantries of different cuisines, how to taste and use these flavors in your own cooking. Organized around key ingredients like soy, dry spices, or chiles, the chapters function as master classes in using these seasonings to bring new flavors into your cooking and new life to flavors you already knew. But even beyond flavors and techniques, the book is about a bigger story: how Chris, a son of Oklahoma who looks like a football coach, came to be “adopted” by these immigrant cooks and families, how he learned to connect and share and truly cross cultures with a sense of generosity and respect, and how we can all learn to make not just better cooking, but a better community, one meal at a time.
