Download or read book Truth Lies and Online Dating written by Terry Ulick and published by Muska & Lipman Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Online dating is a growing and active industry that continues to grow in both usage and as a legitimate means of making social connections for dating, sex, and potential partnerships. "Truth, Lies, and Online Dating," shows people who want to use online dating services how to use technology to effectively market themselves and communicate who they are and who they are looking for. Unlike other online dating books out there, this book combines two critical components of online dating: communication skills and technology. Online dating represents an amazing new way of making connections but it requires technology skills in addition to social skills. "Truth, Lies, and Online Dating," approaches online dating in a no-nonsense and practical way and includes a "he said" and "she said" angle to give perspective from both sexes. Several technological components are covered as well as the mechanics of online dating services and how to put the search engines of those services to work to find the best dates. Tips on reputable online dating services, how to try services before subscribing to them, the importance of honesty and awareness of fraud are all covered. "Truth, Lies, and Online Dating," helps readers use technology to master written and visual communication techniques, understand the mechanics of dating services, and feel empowered, giving him or her the confidence to succeed in the online dating world.

Book Truth Lies and Trust on the Internet

Download or read book Truth Lies and Trust on the Internet written by Monica T. Whitty and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2008-08-28 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Internet is often presented as an unsafe or untrustworthy space: where children are preyed upon by paedophiles, cannibals seek out victims, offline relationships are torn apart by online affairs and where individuals are addicted to gambling, love, and cybersex. While many of these stories are grounded in truth, they do paint a rather sensationalized view of the Internet, the types of people who use it, and the interactions that take place online. Simultaneously, researchers claim that the Internet allows individuals to express their true selves, to develop 'hyperpersonal' relationships characterised by high levels of intimacy and closeness. At the heart of these competing visions of the Internet as a social space are the issues of truth, lies and trust. This book offers a balanced view of the Internet by presenting empirical data conducted by social scientists, with a concentrated focus on psychological studies. It argues that the Internet’s anonymity which can enable, for instance, high levels of self-disclosure in a relationship, is also responsible for many of its more negative outcomes such as deception and flaming. This is the first book to develop a coherent model of the truth-lies paradox, with specific reference to the critical role of trust. Truth, Lies and Trust on the Internet is a useful text for psychology students and academics interested in Internet behaviour, technology, and online deviant behaviour, and related courses in sociology, media studies and information studies.

Book The Top 10 Things People Lie about on Online Dating Sites and Why

Download or read book The Top 10 Things People Lie about on Online Dating Sites and Why written by Linda Jenkins and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Top 10 Things People Lie About on Online Dating Sites is a guide for men and women to help them in their pursuit of Love via Online Dating Sites. Let's face it, there are thousands of Online Dating Sites today and most people meet their partners, husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, friends with benefits and lovers on Online Dating Sites. The reality is most people are too busy working or just too shy to approach someone on the street to actually go out and hunt down a mate. Thanks to the Internet, you can now find love online or anything else you are looking for. I myself have been an Online Dater on and off since 2002. I have been on quite a few sites, some are not even around anymore because they have been bought out by the bigger names. This was way back when Online Dating was starting to get big. I think it is a great way to meet someone but you have to be very cautious. I met my x-Husband on Match.com in 2002. He was the first guy I saw on there that I was attracted to. I didn't even bother looking around once I saw him. I contacted him first and needless to say he lied about almost everything and I was too naive and ignored all of the warning signs. We dated for five years before we got married and he never really changed. He was a Cheater, Liar and a Manipulator who had a handful of women at his disposal at any given time that he used for different purposes. I was his 'Trophy Girlfriend/Wife' yet he had many other women around the entire time we were dating and married. The whole disaster of the relationship was my fault because I allowed him to treat me that way and I kept forgiving him and taking him back. Yes, that's what I said, the whole thing was my fault because as soon as he lied the first time I should have got out and I didn't. I have learned some hard lessons and the purpose of this book is to help my fellow Online Daters see and recognize the lies that people tell on their profiles and when dating online. I have learned that if someone lies about a little thing for example, where they live, they are hiding something and will lie about anything. It's up to you to weed out the dishonest Online Daters so you have a chance at finding true love. Practically all the relationships I know are based on a foundation of lies and mutually accepted delusion. Kim Cattrall"

Book The Real Shark s Tank

Download or read book The Real Shark s Tank written by L. V. Krause and published by . This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Real Shark's Tank is a deft mix of the author's dates and research about online dating. Find out which websites have the least men, if more men or women lie while online dating, and if you're less likely to marry while you online date. L.V. Krause breezily exposes why online dating is so frustrating for so many women, from the weight online dating men prefer (anorexic), to the age most men prefer (ten years younger), to whether relationships that start online break up more often than those that start offline. (They do.) The Real Shark's Tank delves into fascinating psychological research about what makes players tick, how to avoid them, and why the dating websites are their personal safari kingdoms. The author offers up plenty of her own comic online dating life-including showing up for jury duty to find that the prosecutor was a past online date. She decided she needed her own Sex and the City group of girlfriends and emailed other women on the same dating website to form a supportive group in their beachside Florida city. As one of her dates laughingly complained, "You're unionizing!" After online dating for over a year, the author wanted to shout it from the rooftops to the women trudging through the online dating world: "It's not you, it's online dating!"

Book Truth Lies and O Rings

Download or read book Truth Lies and O Rings written by Allan J. McDonald and published by University Press of Florida. This book was released on 2012-03-11 with total page 1075 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On a cold January morning in 1986, NASA launched the Space Shuttle Challenger, despite warnings against doing so by many individuals, including Allan McDonald. The fiery destruction of Challenger on live television moments after launch remains an indelible image in the nation’s collective memory. In Truth, Lies, and O-Rings, McDonald, a skilled engineer and executive, relives the tragedy from where he stood at Launch Control Center. As he fought to draw attention to the real reasons behind the disaster, he was the only one targeted for retribution by both NASA and his employer, Morton Thiokol, Inc., makers of the shuttle's solid rocket boosters. In this whistle-blowing yet rigorous and fair-minded book, McDonald, with the assistance of internationally distinguished aerospace historian James R. Hansen, addresses all of the factors that led to the accident, some of which were never included in NASA's Failure Team report submitted to the Presidential Commission. Truth, Lies, and O-Rings is the first look at the Challenger tragedy and its aftermath from someone who was on the inside, recognized the potential disaster, and tried to prevent it. It also addresses the early warnings of very severe debris issues from the first two post-Challenger flights, which ultimately resulted in the loss of Columbia some fifteen years later.

Book Read Me First

Download or read book Read Me First written by Newton Lee and published by Createspace Independent Pub. This book was released on 2013-05-03 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of "Facebook Nation":In Amy Webb's 2013 TED talk titled “How I hacked online dating,” she said that initially she was having absolutely no luck with online dating. Her solution was to make a spreadsheet, prioritizing things like she was looking for somebody who was really smart, who would challenge and stimulate her, and balancing that with deal-breakers and other criteria. As a result, she had no trouble finding the man of her dream quickly.Truly worthy of the Guinness World Records, my wife used a technique similar to Amy Webb's and found me through a dating website in less than one week! French poet and playwright Paul Géraldy once said, “It is the woman who chooses the man who will choose her.”One of the root causes of miscommunication is that people do not always mean what they say or do. But if we try to stay true to ourselves, online dating can be very effective. Online dating versus traditional dating is like using an electronic calculator versus an abacus. They both can give you accurate results if used properly, but one of them is obviously faster and easier in the modern age.
