La parte musical consta de 77 piezas que siguen el orden del impreso original, distribuido en tres libros: el primero con composiciones para vihuela (números 1-17) y composiciones para guitarra (números 18-23); el segundo libro con piezas para vihuela (números 24-49); y el tercero con composiciones para canto y vihuela (números 50-76) y una para arpa u órgano (número 77). La fuente original emplea tres tipos diferentes de tablatura o cifra para vihuela de seis órdenes, guitarra de cuatro órdenes y arpa u órgano, todos transcritos a notación actual en la edición. Algunas de las piezas se basan en composiciones preexistentes de Alexandre (¿Agrícola?), Fevin, Gombert, Josquin des Prés y (Adrian) Willaert.
