Book Trends in Mathematical Physics Research

Download or read book Trends in Mathematical Physics Research written by Charles V. Benton and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2004 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics and mathematics have always been closely intertwined, with developments in one field frequently inspiring the other. Currently, there are many unsolved problems in physics which will likely require new innovations in mathematical physics. Mathematical physics is concerned with problems in statistical mechanics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum field theory, and, in general, with the mathematical foundations of theoretical physics. This includes such subjects as scattering theory for n bodies, quantum mechanics (both non-relativistic and relativistic), atomic and molecular physics, the existence and properties of the phases of model ferromagnets, the stability of matter, the theory of symmetry and symmetry breaking in quantum field theory (both in general and in concrete models), and mathematical developments in functional analysis and algebra to which such subjects lead. This book presents leading-edge research in this fast-moving field.

Book Analytic Trends in Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Analytic Trends in Mathematical Physics written by Houssam Abdul-Rahman and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-01-06 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Arizona School of Analysis and Mathematical Physics, held from March 5–9, 2018, at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. A main goal of this school was to introduce graduate students and postdocs to exciting topics of current research that are both influenced by physical intuition and require the use of cutting-edge mathematics. The articles in this volume reflect recent progress and innovative techniques developed within mathematical physics. Two works investigate spectral gaps of quantum spin systems. Specifically, Abdul-Rahman, Lemm, Lucia, Nachtergaele, and Young consider decorated AKLT models, and Lemm demonstrates a finite-size criterion for D D-dimensional models. Bachmann, De Roeck, and Fraas summarize a recent proof of the adiabatic theorem, while Bachmann, Bols, De Roeck, and Fraas discuss linear response for interacting Hall insulators. Models on general graphs are the topic of the articles by Fischbacher, on higher spin XXZ, and by Latushkin and Sukhtaiev, on an index theorem for Schrödinger operators. Probabilistic applications are the focus of the articles by DeMuse and Yin, on exponential random graphs, by Saenz, on KPZ universality, and by Stolz, on disordered quantum spin chains. In all, the diversity represented here is a testament to the enthusiasm this rich field of mathematical physics generates.

Download or read book Trends In Differential Geometry Complex Analysis And Mathematical Physics Proceedings Of 9th International Workshop On Complex Structures Integrability And Vector Fields written by Stancho Dimiev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009-08-21 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the contributions by the participants in the nine of a series of workshops. Throughout the series of workshops, the contributors are consistently aiming at higher achievements of studies of the current topics in complex analysis, differential geometry and mathematical physics and further in any intermediate areas, with expectation of discovery of new research directions. Concerning the present one, it is worthwhile to mention that, in addition to the new developments of the traditional trends, many attractive and pioneering works were presented and their results were contributed to the present volume. The contents of this volume therefore will provide not only significant and useful information for researchers in complex analysis, differential geometry and mathematical physics (including their related areas), but also interesting mathematics for non-specialists and a broad audience. The present volume contains new developments and trends in the studies on constructions of holomorphic Cliffordian functions; the swelling constructions of minimal surfaces with higher genus in flat tori; the spectral properties of soliton equations on symmetric spaces; new types of shallow water waves described by Camassa-Holm type equations, the properties of pseudo-hermitian boson and fermion coherent states; fractals and chaos on orthorhombic lattices, and even an ambitious proposal of a graph model for Kaehler manifolds with Kaehler magnetic fields.

This book was released on 2012-12-13 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microlocal analysis is a field of mathematics that was invented in the mid-20th century for the detailed investigation of problems from partial differential equations, which incorporated and made rigorous many ideas that originated in physics. Since then it has grown to a powerful machine which is used in global analysis, spectral theory, mathematical physics and other fields, and its further development is a lively area of current mathematical research. In this book extended abstracts of the conference 'Microlocal Methods in Mathematical Physics and Global Analysis', which was held at the University of Tübingen from the 14th to the 18th of June 2011, are collected.

Book Topics In Contemporary Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Topics In Contemporary Mathematical Physics written by Kai S Lam and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2003-06-06 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook, pitched at the advanced-undergraduate to beginning-graduate level, focuses on mathematical topics of relevance in contemporary physics that are not usually covered in texts at the same level. Its main purpose is to help students appreciate and take advantage of the modern trend of very productive symbiosis between physics and mathematics. Three major areas are covered: (1) linear operators; (2) group representations and Lie algebra representations; (3) topology and differential geometry. The following are noteworthy features of this book: the style of exposition is a fusion of those common in the standard physics and mathematics literatures; the level of exposition varies from quite elementary to moderately advanced, so that the book is of interest to a wide audience; despite the diversity of the topics covered, there is a strong degree of thematic unity; much care is devoted to detailed cross-referencing so that, from any part of the book, the reader can trace easily where specific concepts or techniques are introduced.
