Download or read book The Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community Euratom written by France and published by Good Press. This book was released on 2021-04-11 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Euratom Treaty, officially the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community, established the European Atomic Energy Community. It was signed on 25 March 1957 at the same time as the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (EEC Treaty). The Euratom treaty has seen very little amendment because of later sensitivity surrounding nuclear power in European public opinion. That has caused some to argue that it has become too outdated, particularly in the areas of democratic oversight. It was not included as part of the (unratified) Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe, which sought to combine all previous treaties, over fears that including nuclear power in the treaty would turn more people against it. Nevertheless, it is one of the active treaties of the European Union.

Download or read book Low carbon Energy Security from a European Perspective written by Patrizia Lombardi and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2016-06-08 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low-Carbon Energy Security from a European Perspective draws on the European Commission's funded project MILESECURE-2050. It considers low-carbon energy security and energy geopolitics in Europe, with a focus on four thematic clusters: challenging the energy security paradigm; climate change and energy security objectives (the components of a secure and low-carbon energy system); energy security in a geopolitical perspective, as it relates to economics, resource competition, and availability; and the influence of large scale renewable energy projects on energy security and shifting geopolitical alliances. An overarching narrative is that optimizing the energy system simultaneously across different objectives may be impossible, i.e., lowest cost, least environmental impact, minimal downtime, regional supply. This book explores these charged topics through insights from a series of novel, new energy project case studies, and demonstrates the need for difficult political conversations within Europe and beyond by posing fundamental yet new questions about the energy security paradigm. - Offers a unique perspective on low-carbon energy security by considering the assumptions behind current energy security needs - Suggests the benefit of envisioning energy security through out-of-the-box scenario development with respect to the energy system - Includes energy in an international scenario with case studies from Africa, Russia, Ukraine, Morroco, China, South America, and Europe - Draws on the European Commission's funded project MILESECURE-2050

Download or read book The European Atomic Energy Community in the European Union Context written by Ilina Cenevska and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ilina Cenevska’s new book, The European Atomic Energy Community in the European Union Context: The 'Outsider' Within explores the unique nature of the Euratom Community as an entity that establishes a supranational regulation in the civil nuclear industry, which, while formally belonging to the European Union construct, is coincidentally somewhat kept ‘outside’ the mainstream developments in the Union. The book surveys Euratom’s status as an ‘outsider within’ the European Union through the correlation between the principles and mechanisms particular to the functioning of the Euratom legal framework and those devised under the Union framework stricto sensu, focusing on two specific areas - nuclear safeguards and health and safety in the nuclear domain.

Download or read book The Treaty on European Union TEU written by Hermann-Josef Blanke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 1821 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major Commentary on the Treaty on European Union (TEU) is a European project that aims to contribute to the development of ever closer conceptual and dogmatic standpoints with regard to the creation of a “Europeanised research on Union law”. This publication in English contains detailed explanations, article by article, on all the provisions of the TEU as well as on several Protocols and Declarations, including the Protocols No 1, 2 and 30 and Declaration No 17, having steady regard to the application of Union law in the national legal orders and its interpretation by the Court of Justice of the EU. The authors of the Commentary are academics from ten European states and different legal fields, some from a constitutional law background, others experts in the field of international law and EU law professionals. This should lead to more unity in European law notwithstanding all the legitimate diversity. The different traditions of constitutional law are reflected and mentioned by name thus striving for a common framework for European constitutional law.
