This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Treatise on the Principles and Applications of Analytic Geometry The following treatise, designed as a text-book upon Analytic Geometry, has been written with the most practical ends in View, and is intended to meet the wants of classes in Scientific and Technological Schools, Colleges and Universi ties. While the needs of the student of Mechanics, Astronomy and Civil Engineering have never been forgotten, it has been found possible to so select the material and to put it in such shape as to adapt the work to the student who pursues the subject merely as a part of a liberal education. The prime difficulty the ordinary student meets in the study of analytic geometry is in the use of variables, since with these he has had no previous acquaintance. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise on Analytical Geometry Branch has been illustrated by problems, intended to test the student's knowledge of the principles demonstrated. The method of treating tangents, normals, subtangents, and subnormals, has been much abridged, and, it is believed, correspondingly improved. Much care has been bestowed on the discussion of the general equation of the second de gree, particularly with respect to the methods of testing the nature of the different -curves that are represented by it. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. Books from that period are often spoiled by imperfections that did not exist in the original. Imperfections could be in the form of blurred text, photographs, or missing pages. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This book was released on 2015-06-16 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Treatise on the Principles and Applications of Analytic Geometry The following treatise, designed as a text-book upon Analytic Geometry, has been written with the most practical ends in view, and is intended to meet the wants of classes in Scientific and Technological Schools, Colleges and Universities. No pains has been spared to make the introduction to their use clear and free from all other complexities. To this end a thorough knowledge of co-ordinates has been first secured by the study of the relations of points, the transformation of co-ordinates, etc. Again, the entire subject of the general relation of constant and variable quantities is postponed to Chapter V, at which point the student will have attained a sufficient acquaintance with the processes and notation peculiar to analytic geometry to grasp the ideas advanced and use them in after work. To secure an accurate knowledge of the meaning of the general equations, it is essential that the student should solve numerous numerical examples. They should be illustrations, and of such simple character as to be readily solved by any one who understands the preceding text. Such are the examples interspersed through the work, which should in no case be omitted. Indeed, if the class is numerous, the teacher is advised to largely increase the number of examples as class-room work by substituting other numbers than those used, and giving each example to a sufficient number of different computers to ensure correct results. The Exercises are much more difficult than the examples, and have two objects in view: first, as original work for the more ambitious students; and secondly, as results to be referred to in the students subsequent studies. They may be omitted by the ordinary student. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book An Elementary Treatise on Analytic Mechanics written by Edward A. Bowser and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-16 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Elementary Treatise on Analytic Mechanics: With Numerous Examples The treatise is intended especially for beginners in this branch of science. It involves the use of Analytic Geometry and the Calculus. The analytic method has been chiefly adhered to, as being better adapted to the treatment of the subject, more general in its applica tion and more fruitful in results than the geometric method; and yet where a geometric proof seemed preferable it has been introduced. The aim has been to make every principle clear and intelligible, to develop the different theories with simplicity, and to explain fully the meaning and use of the various analytic expressions in which the principles are embodied. The book consists of three parts. Part I, with the exception of a preliminary chapter devoted to definitions and fundamental princi ples, is entirely given to Statics. Book Analytic Geometry for Technical Schools and Colleges Classic Reprint

Download or read book Analytic Geometry for Technical Schools and Colleges Classic Reprint written by P. A. Lambert and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-23 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Analytic Geometry for Technical Schools and Colleges The object of this text-book is to furnish a natural but thorough introduction to the principles and applica tions of Analytic Geometry for students who have a fair knowledge of Elementary Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry. The presentation is descriptive rather than formal. The numerous problems are mainly numerical, and are intended to give familiarity with the method of Analytic Geometry, rather than to test the student's ingenuity in guessing riddles. Answers are not given, as it is thought better that the numerical results should be verified by actual measurement of figures carefully drawn on cross section paper. Attention is called to the applications of Analytic Geometry in other branches of Mathematics and Physics. The important engineering curves are thoroughly dis cussed. This is calculated to increase the interest of the student, aroused by the beautiful application the Analytic Geometry makes of his knowledge of Algebra. The historical notes are intended to combat the notion that a mathematical system in all its completeness issues Minerva-like from the brain of an individual.
