Book Economics of Child Care

Download or read book Economics of Child Care written by David M. Blau and published by Russell Sage Foundation. This book was released on 1991-09-19 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "David Blau has chosen seven economists to write chapters that review the emerging economic literature on the supply of child care, parental demand for care, child care cost and quality, and to discuss the implications of these analyses for public policy. The book succeeds in presenting that research in understandable terms to policy makers and serves economists as a useful review of the child care literature....provides an excellent case study of the value of economic analysis of public policy issues." —Arleen Leibowitz, Journal of Economic Literature "There is no doubt this is a timely book....The authors of this volume have succeeded in presenting the economic material in a nontechnical manner that makes this book an excellent introduction to the role of economics in public policy analysis, and specifically child care policy....the most comprehensive introduction currently available." —Cori Rattelman, Industrial and Labor Relations Review

Book Treasury Single Account

Download or read book Treasury Single Account written by Israel Fainboim Yaker and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2010-06-01 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A treasury single account (TSA) is an essential tool for consolidating and managing governments’ cash resources, thus minimizing borrowing costs. In countries with fragmented government banking arrangements, the establishment of a TSA should receive priority in the public financial management reform agenda. Drawing on the lessons of the Fund’s work in several countries in establishing a TSA, this paper explains its concept, essential features, and potential benefits. It also presents alternative models and approaches for designing a TSA that take into account specific country contexts as well as the preconditions and desirable sequencing for its successful implementation. Finally, the paper includes country examples from different regions in support of the analysis and recommendations.

Book Modelling Fiscal Policy with OLGA Treasury s OverLapping Generations Model of the Australian Economy

Download or read book Modelling Fiscal Policy with OLGA Treasury s OverLapping Generations Model of the Australian Economy written by Yiyong Cai and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To meet the needs of a broad set of internal and external stakeholders now and into the future the Australian Treasury maintains a significant macroeconomic modelling capability. Treasury's current inhouse capability is similar to that of the US Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT). These agencies have a suite of macroeconomic models to quantify the general equilibrium effects of policy on economic activity, household welfare and public finances. In this paper we introduce one of the models in that suite, Treasury's overlapping generations model of the Australian economy (hereafter OLGA). OLGA has been developed by economists in Treasury's Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy Division to support Treasury's counterfactual fiscal policy analysis. OLGA is a small open economy variant of the well-known lifecycle model developed by Auerbach and Kotlikoff (1987). It has been calibrated to Australian data and policy settings.

Book Flow and Stock Effects of Large Scale Treasury Purchases

Download or read book Flow and Stock Effects of Large Scale Treasury Purchases written by Stefania D'Amico and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2011-02 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a print on demand edition of a hard to find publication. Using a panel of daily CUSIP-level data, the authors study the effects of the Federal Reserve¿s program to purchase $300 billion of U.S. Treasury coupon securities announced and implemented during 2009. The authors find that each purchase operation, on average, caused a decline in yields in the sector purchased of 3.5 basis points on the days when these purchases occurred (the ¿flow effect¿ of the program). In addition, the program as a whole resulted in a persistent downward shift in the yield curve of as much as 50 basis points (the ¿stock effect¿), with the largest impact in the 10- to 15-year sector. The coefficient patterns generally support a view of segmentation or imperfect substitution within the Treasury market. Charts and tables.

Book U S Investment Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017

Download or read book U S Investment Since the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 written by Emanuel Kopp and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is no consensus on how strongly the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has stimulated U.S. private fixed investment. Some argue that the business tax provisions spurred investment by cutting the cost of capital. Others see the TCJA primarily as a windfall for shareholders. We find that U.S. business investment since 2017 has grown strongly compared to pre-TCJA forecasts and that the overriding factor driving it has been the strength of expected aggregate demand. Investment has, so far, fallen short of predictions based on the postwar relation with tax cuts. Model simulations and firm-level data suggest that much of this weaker response reflects a lower sensitivity of investment to tax policy changes in the current environment of greater corporate market power. Economic policy uncertainty in 2018 played a relatively small role in dampening investment growth.
