Los sistemas de salud de los países desarrollados, se ven obligados a afrontar unas dificultades que atañen a todos ellos de manera muy similar, como son: el aumento de esperanza de vida de la población, el envejecimiento de la misma, la cronificación de los problemas de salud, el acceso, introducción y financiación de la innovación, etc. La Gestión Clínica, se plantea como una nueva forma organizativa, que incorpora a los profesionales sanitarios, en la gestión de los recursos utilizados en su propia práctica clínica, dotando a sus unidades asistenciales (UGC2), de la capacidad de planificar y gestionar sus actividades, promoviendo la mejora asistencial. Resultados: Se pone de manifiesto, como el gran interés suscitado en un primer momento por las UGC, ha ido perdiendo fuerza, hasta el punto, de llegarse en el último congreso sobre Gestión Clínica, a una de estas conclusiones: Las Unidades de Gestión Clínica están agotadas Conclusiones: Existe mucho desencanto y desconfianza hacia este nuevo prototipo de Gestión tal y como se ha planteado hasta ahora. No hay evaluación de resultados indicadora ni de ahorro, ni de mejora asistencial en las CC.AA, donde llevan tiempo en funcionamiento. Se siguen buscando nuevos modelos de Gestión, que ayuden a paliar las grandes deficiencias de los Sistemas Sanitarios.
