Download or read book The Trilogy written by Diane Freeman and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-04-19 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book will take you on a journey of revelation like no other, involving the deliverance of many well-known individuals who were stranded in darkness due to their lack of knowledge of who they were, their life choices, and their delinquencies in choosing this day whom they would serve. They discovered too late that it matters what choices you make while living and that it is the difference between life everlasting and eternal separation from God. The good news is what happened when they met the author of this book and were delivered from evil. Please tell me your name, I asked one day as a soul attached to my energy field, looking for guidance home. I heard a name that was familiar to me and to many, many others in the world. His name was Ronald Reagan. I asked Ronald Reagan why it was that he was coming to me, for I thought him to be a man of faith. He simply told me that, sadly, he did not know God as I did and he did not serve God as I did while he was the president of the United States. To Ronald, this was a mistake, and he was apologetic about this lack of leadership in the nation that was called by its name because it was so named by the choice of the true commander-in-chief, Alejandro. Yes, Alejandro, for this is the name that is above every other name under heaven and on earth, and it has been lost to the multitudes due to endless times under captivity of His people where they were not allowed to call upon His name and they did forget His name days without number. It is His will that I, for the first time in eons, bring to the surface for enlightenment of His people once again his beloved name. There is no other name above His name, and He cherishes the sound of it. If you wish to verify His name, as I did, I recommend devotion to Him in the form of fasting, for I did fast forty days faithfully without food, only consuming water, for the sole purpose of discovering His hidden name. For the biblical record is clear that His name was forgotten by His people and the scholars over the years, and the people were not allowed access to their scriptures while in captivity, nor were they allowed to sing the songs of their praise to their God as is recorded in the psalms.

Download or read book Inner Torment written by Salman Akhtar and published by Jason Aronson. This book was released on 1999 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrating diverse psychoanalytic traditions with his own theoretical and clinical insights, Salman Akhtar provides answers to these and other important questions in this realm. He weaves the existing conceptual schisms and technical diversity into an integrated theory and technique. In a truly original contribution, he delineates certain ubiquitous human fantasies (e.g., "someday" and "if only" fantasies of optimism and nostalgia, and fantasies of powerful psychic tethers that bind us to others) and shows how their pathological variants underlie the suffering of these patients.

Download or read book The Lifesaving Church written by Rachael A. Keefe and published by Chalice Press. This book was released on 2018-05-01 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There's so much silence around suicide in the church that it is quite literally killing us." --Rachael Keefe Would you know how to respond if the person sitting next to you in your pew was contemplating suicide? Every year, millions of people engage in suicidal activity, including men, women, and young people in our faith communities. Yet the Church remains largely silent around the topics of mental health, depression, and suicide prevention. How can you and your faith community be prepared to recognize and respond to those struggling for their very lives in your church? In The Lifesaving Church, pastor Rachael Keefe shatters the taboo of suicide by sharing her own painful story of life-long depression and suicidality--and how her various faith communities responded, for better and for worse. Opening a window into her suicidal behaviors as a young person, Keefe helps us recognize the signs and struggles of those who suffer silently. Reminding us of the Church's call to be the Body of Christ for each other, Keefe empowers us to recognize the hurting in our communities and recover the lifesaving message of the Gospel-- forgiveness, acceptance and love--that helped her to heal. With chapters on how to educate your church in suicide prevention, group study reflections around the common questions surrounding suicide, and specific resources, scriptures, and prayers for clergy, suicide loss survivors, and those struggling with suicidality, The Lifesaving Church is critical reading for faith communities seeking abundant life for all of its members.

Download or read book Startling Figures written by Michael O'Connell and published by Fordham Univ Press. This book was released on 2023-08-01 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Startling Figures is about Catholic fiction in a secular age and the rhetorical strategies Catholic writers employ to reach a skeptical, indifferent, or even hostile audience. Although characters in contemporary Catholic fiction frequently struggle with doubt and fear, these works retain a belief in the possibility for transcendent meaning and value beyond the limits of the purely secular. Individual chapters include close readings of some of the best works of contemporary American Catholic fiction, which shed light on the narrative techniques that Catholic writers use to point their characters, and their readers, beyond the horizon of secularity and toward an idea of transcendence while also making connections between the widely acknowledged twentieth-century masters of the form and their twenty-first-century counterparts. This book is focused both on the aspects of craft that Catholic writers employ to shape the reader’s experience of the story and on the effect the story has on the reader. One recurring theme that is central to both is how often Catholic writers use narrative violence and other, similar disorienting techniques in order to unsettle the reader. These moments can leave both characters within the stories and the readers themselves shaken and unmoored, and this, O’Connell argues, is often a first step toward the recognition, and even possibly the acceptance, of grace. Individual chapters look at these themes in the works of Flannery O’Connor, J. F. Powers, Walker Percy, Tim Gautreaux, Alice McDermott, George Saunders, and Phil Klay and Kirstin Valdez Quade.
Download or read book War Trauma and Its Wake written by Raymond Monsour Scurfield and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-09-10 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decades after Charles Figley’s landmark Trauma and Its Wake was published, our understanding of trauma has grown and deepened, but we still face considerable challenges when treating trauma survivors. This is especially the case for professionals who work with veterans and active-duty military personnel. War Trauma and Its Wake, then, is a vital book. The editors—one a Vietnam veteran who wrote the overview chapter on treatment for Trauma and Its Wake, the other an Army Reserve psychologist with four deployments—have produced a book that addresses both the specific needs of particular warrior communities as well as wider issues such as battlemind, guilt, suicide, and much, much more. The editors’ and contributors’ deep understanding of the issues that warriors face makes War Trauma and Its Wake a crucial book for understanding the military experience, and the lessons contained in its pages are essential for anyone committed to healing war trauma.
