Book Atmospheric Transmission Emission and Scattering

Download or read book Atmospheric Transmission Emission and Scattering written by Thomas G. Kyle and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-24 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduces the physical processes and meteorology required to understand the behaviour of light and radiation in the atmosphere. Integrating the treatment of atmospheric optics from the ultraviolet to the microwave, the book presents a detailed overview, together with discussions, on the associated meteorology and atmospheric composition, which gives the meteorological background necessary to deal with the varying conditions found in the real atmosphere. Mathematical details provide a concise description of results thus allowing readers with a knowledge of meteorology or a single wavelength region to comprehend the transmission, emission and scattering in all wavelength regions. Rayleigh and Mie scattering are covered as well as the aerosol and raindrop distributions found in the atmosphere. Detailed models of the atmosphere and the distribution of trace gases are supplied, and finally a chapter is devoted to standardised software and available data bases.

Book A Computer Code to Calculate Emission and Transmission of Infrared Radiation Through Non equilibrium Atmospheres

Download or read book A Computer Code to Calculate Emission and Transmission of Infrared Radiation Through Non equilibrium Atmospheres written by R. D. Sharma and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computer code that calculates infrared radiance in the upper atmosphere has been developed. The code, for limb-looking geometry and conditions where local thermodynamic equilibrium may not hold, utilizes individual ro-vibrational transitions to calculate the optical thicknesses along each segment of the line-of-sight path. The formulation of the problem is given, as is the means of using the program and the procedure for obtaining input data from certain data bases. Appendices contain program listings and two examples.

Book Infrared Thermography

Download or read book Infrared Thermography written by Waldemar Minkina and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-28 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Infrared Thermography, the authors discuss the sources of uncertainty, including how to quantify these sources, associated with the use of thermal imagers. This book explains the common misunderstandings in the interpretation of temperature measurements, and provides a metrological evaluation of commercially available infrared cameras. It suggests how to best estimate the accuracy of thermal imaging instruments, whilst considering the level of accuracy attributed to measurements from these thermal imagers. Key features: Begins with an introduction to uncertainties and radiance terms before moving onto the issues surrounding thermal imaging. Deals with the basic issues of thermal imager measurements such as the law of heat exchange by radiation and emissivity. Describes a typical processing algorithm of the measurement path for an example infrared camera. Discusses measurement error analysis of a thermal imaging system. Considers the results of simulation research of thermography uncertainty. Includes an accompanying website which hosts MATLAB® code. Infrared Thermography is primarily aimed at quantitative thermographers, and manufacturers, vendors and users of thermal imagers. This book is also of interest to senior undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of disciplines such as electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, computer science, and biomedicine.
