Book Field Excitation of Multiconductor Transmission Lines

Download or read book Field Excitation of Multiconductor Transmission Lines written by Frederick M. Tesche and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses the excitation of a multiconductor transmission line by an incident electromagnetic field. Specific relations for the terminal (or load) response of a multiconductor line are derived in terms of field-induced voltage and current sources which are distributed along the transmission line. It is shown how these sources are derived for a general multiconductor line and how they may be derived from a knowledge of the incident (or free space) fields by using a field coupling parameter. The components of the exciting fields along the line are then given explicitly for the special case of an incident plane wave with arbitrary angle of incidence. (Author).

Book Liquid Transmission Line Pulser Circuit for Laser Excitation

Download or read book Liquid Transmission Line Pulser Circuit for Laser Excitation written by George A. Tsongas and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of this report is the study of liquid dielectric transmission lines and their potential application as a reliable excitation source in high power, high repetition rate laser designs. The design problems associated with the construction of high repetition rate (khz), short wavelength lasers have been reviewed and the major shortcomings of conventional electrical driving circuits identified. The identification of these shortcomings and a review of the available literature on electrical circuits for various types of lasers suggested that liquid dielectrics and transmission lines could potentially have significant advantages over more conventional circuitry used in high repetition rate, short wavelength lasers. Use of this excitation source for laser pumping is expected to result in major performance improvements with regard to high average power, high repetition rate operation, high wall-plug efficiency, and high reliability. The pump source consists essentially of a fast and highly reliable electrical driving or pulse forming network coupled either to a series of sparks for optical pumping or to a simple discharge or direct gas excitation.

Book Transmission Line Matrix TLM Techniques for Diffusion Applications

Download or read book Transmission Line Matrix TLM Techniques for Diffusion Applications written by Donard deCogan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-12-12 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) is a numerical technique which is based upon establishing an analogue between a space and time dependent physical problem and an electrical network which includes transmission lines. By their very nature these enforce time discretization on the network which can then be solved explicitly in the time-domain. Although it is best known in electromagnetic applications, TLM can also be used to model diffusion phenomena, and this book outlines the state of the art in this area. The first part of the book deals with theory and techniques. The second part is devoted to the development of algorithms for specific applications. This is arranged as a historical sequence starting with heat-flow and matter diffusion. The remainder of the book outlines many of the ingenious exploitations of the unique properties of TLM, including topics such as the solution of convection, Poisson, Laplace, and time-dependent Schrodinger equations. Applications in the firing of ceramics, chromatography, image processing, and the solution of inverse thermal problems are also covered.

Book Analysis of Multiconductor Transmission Lines

Download or read book Analysis of Multiconductor Transmission Lines written by Clayton R. Paul and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-10-26 with total page 821 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essential textbook for electrical engineering students and professionals-now in a valuable new edition The increasing use of high-speed digital technology requires that all electrical engineers have a working knowledge of transmission lines. However, because of the introduction of computer engineering courses into already-crowded four-year undergraduate programs, the transmission line courses in many electrical engineering programs have been relegated to a senior technical elective, if offered at all. Now, Analysis of Multiconductor Transmission Lines, Second Edition has been significantly updated and reorganized to fill the need for a structured course on transmission lines in a senior undergraduate- or graduate-level electrical engineering program. In this new edition, each broad analysis topic, e.g., per-unit-length parameters, frequency-domain analysis, time-domain analysis, and incident field excitation, now has a chapter concerning two-conductor lines followed immediately by a chapter on MTLs for that topic. This enables instructors to emphasize two-conductor lines or MTLs or both. In addition to the reorganization of the material, this Second Edition now contains important advancements in analysis methods that have developed since the previous edition, such as methods for achieving signal integrity (SI) in high-speed digital interconnects, the finite-difference, time-domain (FDTD) solution methods, and the time-domain to frequency-domain transformation (TDFD) method. Furthermore, the content of Chapters 8 and 9 on digital signal propagation and signal integrity application has been considerably expanded upon to reflect all of the vital information current and future designers of high-speed digital systems need to know. Complete with an accompanying FTP site, appendices with descriptions of numerous FORTRAN computer codes that implement all the techniques in the text, and a brief but thorough tutorial on the SPICE/PSPICE circuit analysis program, Analysis of Multiconductor Transmission Lines, Second Edition is an indispensable textbook for students and a valuable resource for industry professionals.

Book Transmission Lines and Lumped Circuits

Download or read book Transmission Lines and Lumped Circuits written by Giovanni Miano and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-02-23 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of transmission lines is a classical topic of electrical engineering. Recently this topic has received renewed attention and has been a focus of considerable research. This is because the transmisson line theory has found new and important applications in the area of high-speed VLSI interconnects, while it has retained its significance in the area of power transmission. In many applications, transmission lines are connected to nonlinear circuits. For instance, interconnects of high-speed VLSI chips can be modelled as transmission lines loaded with nonlinear elements. These nonlinearities may lead to many new effects such as instability, chaos, generation of higher order harmonics, etc. The mathematical models of transmission lines with nonlinear loads consist of the linear partial differential equations describing the current and voltage dynamics along the lines together with the nonlinear boundary conditions imposed by the nonlinear loads connected to the lines. These nonlinear boundary conditions make the mathematical treatment very difficult. For this reason, the analysis of transmission lines with nonlinear loads has not been addressed adequately in the existing literature. The unique and distinct feature of the proposed book is that it will present systematic, comprehensive, and in-depth analysis of transmission lines with nonlinear loads. A unified approach for the analysis of networks composed of distributed and lumped circuits A simple, concise and completely general way to present the wave propagation on transmission lines, including a thorough study of the line equations in characteristic form Frequency and time domain multiport representations of any linear transmission line A detailed analysis of the influence on the line characterization of the frequency and space dependence of the line parameters A rigorous study of the properties of the analytical and numerical solutions of the network equations The associated discrete circuits and the associated resisitive circuits of transmission lines Periodic solutions, bifurcations and chaos in transmission lines connected to noninear lumped circuits
