Download or read book Air New Zealand Strategic Analysis and Recommendations written by Marc Dominick and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2005-10-03 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2003 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,0, UNITEC New Zealand, course: Strategy & Change, language: English, abstract: Since the appointment of RALPH NORRIS as Managing Director and CEO of Air New Zealand in February 2002 Air NZ has been working on its new strategic direction. Structural changes in the marketplace made a new direction indispensable and Air NZ is now turning away from inflexible service offerings to align its route and service standards to customer needs. In fact, Air NZ is developing from a full service airline into the direction of a “value-based-plus” airline (Airline to put profit on menu, 2002) which involves lower fares and more customers. Reduced revenues (per customer) should be offset by lower operating costs mainly achieved by simplification of product bundles and services. (UBS Warburg Conference, 2003, p.11 ; Airline to put profit on menu, 2002) This essay gives an overview of Air NZ strategic direction. It analysis its strengths and weaknesses (SWOT). Moreover a recommendation for a new strategy is worked out and strategy implementation issues discussed.

Book excerpt: New Zealand has to rebuild the majority of its second-largest city after a devastating series of earthquakes – a unique challenge for a developed country in the twenty-first century. The 2010-2011 earthquakes fundamentally disrupted the conventions by which the people of Christchurch lived. The exhausting and exhilarating mix of distress, uncertainty, creativity, opportunities, divergent opinions and competing priorities generates an inevitable question: how do we know if the right decisions are being made? Once in Lifetime: City-building after Disaster in Christchurch offers the first substantial critique of the Government’s recovery plan, presents alternative approaches to city-building andarchives a vital and extraordinary time. It features photo and written essays from journalists, economists, designers, academics, politicians, artists, publicans and more. Once in a Lifetime presents a range of national and international perspectives on city-building and post-disaster urban recovery.

Book Strategic Planning for Urban Transportation

Download or read book Strategic Planning for Urban Transportation written by Guido Noto and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-12 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the adoption of a Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) approach to support the planning and management of urban transportation systems. DPM allows one to embrace a dynamic and systemic perspective and, as a result, to frame the contribution of different stakeholders, in terms of outcome-based performance, at an inter-institutional level. The discussed DPM approach allows one to focus on the causal relationships and feedback processes that characterize urban transportation systems’ governance. Particularly, through the adoption of such an approach, it is possible to identify outcome-based performance measures that help to monitor and drive the governance network toward the creation of public value for the reference communities.Strategic Planning for Urban Transportation: A Dynamic Performance Management Approach begins with an examination of urban transportation, highlighting the main criticalities and future challenges of managing it. Next, the book examines the governance of urban transportation including how to identify and engage stakeholders. Finally, the book introduces the main application of DPM and system dynamics to urban areas, with specific regards to transportation. The framework is outlined, and a case study is provided as a practical example of how to apply the model. This book should be useful to urban transportation decision-makers at both the managerial and political level.
