Book Radiation Tolerant Electronics Volume II

Download or read book Radiation Tolerant Electronics Volume II written by Paul LeRoux and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2023-01-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on radiation tolerant electronics has increased rapidly over the last few years, resulting in many interesting approaches to model radiation effects and design radiation hardened integrated circuits and embedded systems. This research is strongly driven by the growing need for radiation hardened electronics for space applications, high-energy physics experiments such as those on the large hadron collider at CERN, and many terrestrial nuclear applications, including nuclear energy and safety management. With the progressive scaling of integrated circuit technologies and the growing complexity of electronic systems, their ionizing radiation susceptibility has raised many exciting challenges, which are expected to drive research in the coming decade. After the success of the first Special Issue on Radiation Tolerant Electronics, the current Special Issue features thirteen articles highlighting recent breakthroughs in radiation tolerant integrated circuit design, fault tolerance in FPGAs, radiation effects in semiconductor materials and advanced IC technologies and modelling of radiation effects.

This book was released on 2018-03-07 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MIL-HDBK-419A 29 DECEMBER 1987 Volume 2 of 2 Applications Unfortunately, few Military Handbooks address the need for defense against electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and cybersecurity. While EMP has been thought of as a remote possibility (who in his right mind is going to launch a nuclear weapon of any kind against the U.S.?) Advances in non-nuclear EMP, miniaturization of electronics and autonomous drones suddenly brings EMP into the role of the possible. No longer would an adversary need to risk retaliation when a drone from an unknown source attacks a vital facility. The information in this book is part of the solution to the question "How do we defend against EMP?" Book Lightning Protection of Aircraft

Download or read book Lightning Protection of Aircraft written by Franklin Fisher and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2012-07-13 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an attempt to present under one cover the current state of knowledge concerning the potential lightning effects on aircraft and that means that are available to designers and operators to protect against these effects. The impetus for writing this book springs from two sources- the increased use of nonmetallic materials in the structure of aircraft and the constant trend toward using electronic equipment to handle flight-critical control and navigation function.

Book Materials and Reliability Handbook for Semiconductor Optical and Electron Devices

Download or read book Materials and Reliability Handbook for Semiconductor Optical and Electron Devices written by Osamu Ueda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-24 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials and Reliability Handbook for Semiconductor Optical and Electron Devices provides comprehensive coverage of reliability procedures and approaches for electron and photonic devices. These include lasers and high speed electronics used in cell phones, satellites, data transmission systems and displays. Lifetime predictions for compound semiconductor devices are notoriously inaccurate due to the absence of standard protocols. Manufacturers have relied on extrapolation back to room temperature of accelerated testing at elevated temperature. This technique fails for scaled, high current density devices. Device failure is driven by electric field or current mechanisms or low activation energy processes that are masked by other mechanisms at high temperature. The Handbook addresses reliability engineering for III-V devices, including materials and electrical characterization, reliability testing, and electronic characterization. These are used to develop new simulation technologies for device operation and reliability, which allow accurate prediction of reliability as well as the design specifically for improved reliability. The Handbook emphasizes physical mechanisms rather than an electrical definition of reliability. Accelerated aging is useful only if the failure mechanism is known. The Handbook also focuses on voltage and current acceleration stress mechanisms.
