St. Peter's Episcopal Church is an example of churches facing this challenge. The researcher was interested in examining the role of transformational leadership in preparing youth as future church leaders. The leadership model was considered to be suitable since it has the potential to encourage youth to attend church and to participate in leadership roles. A case study approach was adopted for this project. Seven pastors and seven youth were interviewed. A self-developed interview protocol was used to gather data from the participants. The project further included review of biblical passages and relevant literature concerning the topic of transformational leadership. The results revealed that transformational leadership practices, such as: empowerment, delegation, appreciation, encouragement of creativity, and articulation of clear goals have the potential to encourage more youth to take up church-related roles and to increase their church attendance. So this project is really a work in progress. With this small beginning, it is hoped that other church leaders will be empowered to help in the implementation of this work and engage in more research as we seek to empower our youthful congregants. Rev. Dr. Michael Kiju Paul was born in Kajokeji, South Sudan. His parents were members of the Episcopal Church and his early life was influenced by their faith and that of his maternal grandmother who played a big role in his early upbringing. Michael obtained B.A. in Theology (1995), M. A. in Missiology (1997), M.A. in Theological Studies (2000), M.A. in Pastoral Care & Counseling (2011), and Doctorate, Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, (2020). Michael has served as Pastor in Episcopal Churches in California, Washington, Minnesota, North Dakota, and is currently Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church Wharton, Texas.

The healing of the wounded leader is essential to the Spirit well being of the people. The purpose of the study is to investigate the wounds face by church leaders. The study also investigates that how these wounds affect church leadership. This study also identifies methods of healing of wounded leader and interventions used from transforming wounded leaders into an active and effective leader. Many churches are facing numerous leadership issues due to leaders’ wounds. Identification of this issue is important for the development and implementation of churches in America. This study helps in investigating the wounds among leaders and their relationship with leadership ineffectiveness. The study helps in identifying the meaning of wounds. This study helps in studying impact of wounds on church leaders in detail. This study classifies wounds as divorces, childhood traumatic experiences such as rape, molestation and physical abuse through domestic violence, emotional abuse through verbal altercations and mental abuse from a sibling, parent, spouse, authority figure or partner in a relationship. For this study mixed method was done. Survey interview questions and observational research were done. According to the participants, many of the transformational leadership concepts are transferrable into the church context, however, including idealized influence, which espouses the leader as a role model with high moral standards and ethical conduct, and as one who considers the needs of others before his or her own. According to the participants, Old Testament suggested, there are numerous examples of leadership development in the Old Testament, the short space available in this review will dictate a focus on one of the most obvious and well-known leadership examples. According to the respondents, personality is becoming more and more associated with leadership style and ability. This is particularly true when one is discussing the concept of transformational leadership. Due to leadership issues in American churches, Christian community is reluctant to visit their nearby churches regularly. The results depicted that due to past wounds or inner wounds the church leaders are not able to have Holy spirits. The wounds must be healed up for attaining pure Holy spirits. If their wounds are properly healed up then they can more firmly believe as the apostle on the super natural healings signs and miracles. The unhealed wounds of the church leaders hinders in the way of the leaders for praying for the humanity or for those who are suffering from hardships regularly. The lack of pastoral visitations of the members is due to the wounded souls of the leaders. For increasing the pastoral visitations of the members, the church leaders’ wounds must be healed up by using various methods. Ineffective leadership is practicing in the churches; these leaders are not conducting the different counseling sessions for the Christian communities. The Christian communities are not interested in visiting churches because of the ineffective leadership. The ineffective leadership does not encourage Christian communities towards practicing God preaching at church. Specifically, what accounts for the quality of relationship that exists between the senior pastor (recognized as the CEO of the organization) and the governing board to which he or she is responsible? This study examines the leadership relationship issue through the lens of a complementary leadership approach using Leader-Member Exchange (LMX) Theory with transformational leadership and transactional leadership theories. In addition, several other questions were asked to identify potential other independent variables that contribute to the quality of the relationship between the two parties. Utilizing a dataset for churches belonging to the Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA International) association, a population of 551 independently controlled Protestant churches was used. From this group, there were 52 paired responses of senior pastor and board chairpersons from the same independently controlled Protestant church. This resulted in the following response rates: senior pastors: 21.4%; board chairpersons: 13.2%; senior pastor and board chairperson pairs: 9.4%. With the pairs, several statistical analyses were used to examine the 58 independent variables against 8 dependent variables for both the paired responses. Through this research, a total of 18 variables were found to have a statistically significant impact on the quality of relationship between the senior pastors and governing boards within the independently controlled Protestant churches. These include: transformational leadership theory, transactional leadership theory, career advancement for senior pastor, type of previous work experience of senior pastor, temperament of senior pastor, age of governing board members, turnover of governing board, conflict resolution of senior pastor, ability of senior pastor to forgive, trust, friendship between senior pastor and governing board, spiritual development of senior pastor, theological viewpoint of senior pastor, growth trend of church, work experience of governing board, political culture of church, gender of governing board members and function of governing board. Through this study independently controlled Protestant churches may have a more fruitful understanding and dialogue of what qualities and competencies are most impactful to a healthy working relationship within these types of local church congregations.
