Download or read book Transformation from Murky Waters written by Angela Stephens and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2015-07-24 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Im writing to share how Ive learned to journey through life, with God, gratitude and peace within my heart. I love flowers, the smell, the feel and the beauty they create. They start as a seed and as long as it is properly nurtured, it blooms into the most beautiful sight. When the seasons change some flowers are able to withstand the storms, while others die or become dormant until a new season comes. I choose to use the lotus flower as the art piece for this book. The reason for this is how a lotus is created. It emerges from the depths of the muddy swamp and blooms the most beautiful flower that opens when the sun rises and at nightfall it closes and goes beneath the water until dawn. The process reminds me of how we were created and ever changing. According to research it takes 60 days to change a habit; within 30 days you will notice the change, and 60 days for others to notice. My desire is for this book to brighten the light that is already within you and you blossom to greatness.

Topics include generally histories of IC research, theoretical perspectives, non-western theories, and cultural communication; specifically communication styles, emotions, interpersonal relationships, ethnocentrism, stereotypes, cultural learning, cross cultural adaptation, and cross border messages;and particular context of conflicts, social change, aging, business, health, and new media. Although the book is prepared for graduate students and academicians, intercultural communication practitioners will also find something useful here.
Download or read book Murky waters written by Sophie Vasset and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2022-06-21 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Murky waters challenges the refined image of spa towns in eighteenth-century Britain by unveiling darker and more ambivalent contemporary representations. It reasserts the centrality of health in British spas by looking at disease, the representation of treatment and the social networks of care woven into spa towns. The book explores the great variety of medical and literary discourses on the numerous British spas in the long eighteenth century and offers a rare look at spas beyond Bath. Following the thread of 'murkiness', it explores the underwater culture of spas, from the gender fluidity of users to the local and national political dimensions, as well as the financial risks taken by gamblers and investors. It thus brings a fresh look at mineral waters and a pinch of salt to health-related discourses.

Download or read book Transformations in Criminal Jurisdiction written by Micheál Ó Floinn and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2023-08-24 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can traditional approaches to criminal jurisdiction adapt to the new global reality of the digital era? In this innovative book, leading experts in criminal, international and internet law unite to address this fundamental question. They consider how jurisdictional regimes are orientated around concepts of territoriality and extraterritoriality, how these categories are increasingly blurred in the digital era, and how a range of jurisdictional transformations are occurring in the process. Part I presents novel doctrinal, empirical and theoretical perspectives on criminal jurisdiction, exploring how states are shaping and reimagining jurisdictional concepts in the crafting and interpretation of criminal offences, and the ramifications of increasing jurisdictional concurrency in state practice. Part II focuses on the investigative and enforcement powers of the state to assess how these issues are transforming traditional understandings of jurisdictional rules and boundaries, the challenges and opportunities that these present for law enforcement authorities, and the sorts of constraints and safeguards that may be necessary as a result. The picture that emerges is a world of jurisdictional rules in a state of flux, which demands the diversity of legal perspectives presented in this book for documenting, rationalising and moving beyond the transformations that are taking shape in modern statecraft.

Muddy Waters was never good at doing what he was told. When Grandma Della said the blues wouldn’t put food on the table, Muddy didn’t listen. And when record producers told him no one wanted to listen to a country boy playing country blues, Muddy ignored them as well. This tenacious streak carried Muddy from the hardscrabble fields of Mississippi to the smoky juke joints of Chicago and finally to a recording studio where a landmark record was made. Soon the world fell in love with the tough spirit of Muddy Waters. In blues-infused prose and soulful illustrations, Michael Mahin and award-winning artist Evan Turk tell Muddy’s fascinating and inspiring story of struggle, determination, and hope.
