Book excerpt: Trans/formations is a new addition to "SCM's Controversies in Contextual Theology" series. Like anything coming from Marcella Althaus-Reid and Lisa Isherwood, it is controversial and challenging as well as highly original. The book will: make visible a range of trans lived experience [transgendered and transsexual], offer theological reflection on these experiences, create challenging theology from this experiential base, and provide a resource for churches and theology students not to date available. It includes an excellent range of contributors, including Elizabeth Stuart and Virginia Ramey Mollenkott. This is a valuable addition to reading lists of courses on religion, gender and the body.

Book Theory and Practice of Model Transformations

Download or read book Theory and Practice of Model Transformations written by Laurence Tratt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-06-29 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Model transformations are the glue that tie modelling activities together. If you’ve used modelling in anger then, whether you know it or not, you’ve used model transformations. They come in all shapes and sizes from moving models between di?erent tools to generating implementations. Model transformations have humble beginnings—at one point, not long ago, it was said by many ‘in the know’ that the way forward in model transformations was to use XSLT. That this idea now raises a wry smile shows how far the model transformation community has come in a short time. Where once model transformations were hacked together in a variety of unsuitable languages, we now have a number of powerful, dedicated languages and theories at our disposal. Since 2008, the ICMT conference series has played a huge part in advancing the subject, and this third edition was no di?erent. The theories and languages presented at ICMT have allowed principled model transformations to play an ever greater part in real systems. Of course there is still much more to do: we need our model transformations, languages, and theories to scale further, allow greater expressivity, be more ?exible, and aid reusability; and we lack empirically backed studies of model transformations in use. Doubtless you can think of other gaps. Yet, though some real-world challenges lie just beyond our reach,eachyearseesonce-dauntingproblemsconquered.Muchofthatprogressis nowdriven byICMT, andthis year’sedition showedhow model transformations are increasingly being used in previously unfamiliar areas.

Book Transformations in Queer Trans and Intersex Health and Aging

To this end, the authors each utilize their lived experiences as queer, trans, and/or intersex people to discuss inequalities and norms in U.S. healthcare. Further, they elaborate upon some ways U.S. healthcare systems may become more inclusive of queer, trans, and intersex populations over time. In so doing, they utilize the autoethnographic cases to illustrate and describe the complexities of sex, gender, and sexualities in health and aging as well as the ways such intricacies facilitate societal inequalities in health and aging.

Book The Regional Economics of Technological Transformations

Download or read book The Regional Economics of Technological Transformations written by Roberta Capello and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-08-30 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Regional Economics of Technological Transformations provides a comprehensive overview of 4.0 technological transformations in Europe and their socio-economic impact, with a particular emphasis on the regional dimension of the phenomena. The authors employ extensive original data and robust quantitative methods to analyse technological change in all regions of the 27 EU countries plus the UK and shed light on this trend for Europe and beyond. Structured in four parts, the book first looks at conceptual definitions, empirical measurements and expected impacts on both the economic performance (GDP and productivity growth) and the labour market, and then moves on to analyse where 4.0 technological transformation actually takes place in Europe and the reasons for this. Next, it offers original empirical evidence on the impacts of the different transformations, and of their intertwined effects, on both the economy and the society. Finally, the book explores the policy implications of this technological transformation. This book will be valuable reading for advanced students, researchers and policymakers working across regional economics, industrial economics and innovation policy. It will be of primary interest to regional scientists interested in the field, who may enjoy the conceptual and empirical solutions to the study of a very complex, timely and still largely unexplored theme. Sociologists, engineers and political economists can benefit from the book’s analysis, noting the urgency of the development of new ethical rules governing the new digital and labour markets. Finally, the book may appeal to policymakers interested in opportunities to increase regional competitiveness and sustainability goals through the advent of 4.0 technologies.
