Book OPTIMISATION DE REQUETES RELATIONNELLES POUR EXECUTION PARALLELE

Download or read book OPTIMISATION DE REQUETES RELATIONNELLES POUR EXECUTION PARALLELE written by MOHAMED.. ZAIT and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DANS CETTE THESE, NOUS ABORDONS LE PROBLEME DE L'OPTIMISATION DE REQUETES RELATIONNELLES DANS LES SYSTEMES DE GESTION DE BASES DE DONNEES PARALLELES. L'OPTIMISATION POUR UN MODELE D'EXECUTION PARALLELE OUVRE LA VOIE A PLUSIEURS PROBLEMES NOUVEAUX DONT: L'OPTIMISATION DYNAMIQUE, UN ESPACE DE RECHERCHE PLUS GRAND, ET UN MODELE DE COUT COMPLEXE. NOUS AVONS APPORTE DES SOLUTIONS A CERTAINS DE CES PROBLEMES ET LES AVONS IMPLANTES DANS L'OPTIMISEUR DE REQUETES DU SYSTEME EDS. LA PREMIERE CONTRIBUTION EST DE PROPOSER UN MODELE DE COUT POUR UN ENVIRONNEMENT D'EXECUTION PARALLELE, POUR LES DEUX ARCHITECTURES MEMOIRE PARTAGEE ET MEMOIRE DISTRIBUEE, ET DE LE VALIDER. DEUXIEMEMENT, NOUS PROPOSONS UN NOUVEAU CRITERE D'EQUIVALENCE POUR LA STRATEGIE DE PROGRAMMATION DYNAMIQUE, QUI PREND EN COMPTE LES ASPECTS D'UN PLAN D'EXECUTION LIES A L'ENVIRONNEMENT PARALLELE. TROISIEMEMENT, NOUS MONTRONS QUE LES STRATEGIES DE RECHERCHE BASEES SUR LES TRANSFORMATIONS SONT UNE BONNE ALTERNATIVE AUX STRATEGIES EXHAUSTIVES, TELLE QUE PROGRAMMATION DYNAMIQUE. LES STRATEGIES EXHAUSTIVES NE PEUVENT PLUS ETRE UTILISEES POUR DES REQUETES DE TAILLE MOYENNE (PAR EXEMPLE, PLUS DE SEPT JOINTURES) CAR LA TAILLE DE L'ESPACE DE RECHERCHE EST BEAUCOUP PLUS IMPORTANTE. TROISIEMEMENT, NOUS MONTRONS QUE L'ESPACE DES PLANS PARALLELES EST BEAUCOUP PLUS LARGE QUE L'ESPACE DES PLANS SEQUENTIELS POUR UNE REQUETE DONNEE. CEPENDANT, AU LIEU DE RESTREINDRE STATIQUEMENT L'ESPACE DE RECHERCHE (CONSIDERER UNIQUEMENT LES PLANS LINEAIRES), QUI PEUT FAIRE RATER DE MEILLEURS PLANS, NOUS REDUISONS LE COUT DE L'OPTIMISATION EN CONTROLANT LA STRATEGIE DE RECHERCHE. EN PARTICULIER, L'UTILISATION DE STRATEGIES DE RECHERCHE ALEATOIRES DANS UN ESPACE NON RESTREINT (ESPACE DES PLANS BUSHY) DONNE DE MEILLEURS RESULTATS QU'UNE STRATEGIE EXHAUSTIVE DANS UN ESPACE RESTREINT. QUATRIEMEMENT, UN NOUVEAU FORMAT POUR REPRESENTER LES PLANS D'EXECUTION A ETE PROPOSE, APPELE ZIGZAG. IL PERMET, DANS LE CAS OU LA MEMOIRE EST LIMITEE, D'OBTENIR DE MEILLEURES PERFORMANCES QUE LES ARBRES DROITS. FINALEMENT, NOUS PROPOSONS UNE APPROCHE POUR UNE OPTIMISATION EXTENSIBLE BASEE SUR DES TECHNIQUES ORIENTEES OBJET. CES TECHNIQUES ONT ETE UTILISEES DANS LA CONCEPTION ET LA REALISATION DE L'OPTIMISEUR DE REQUETES DU SYSTEME EDS. MOTS-CLES: BASE DE DONNEES, CONCEPTION ORIENTEE OBJET, ESPACE DE RECHERCHE, GRAPHE DE REQUETES, MODELE DE COUT, OPTIMISATION DE REQUETES, PARALLELISME, PLAN D'EXECUTION, STRATEGIE DE RECHERCHE, SERVEUR DE BASES DE DONNEES, SQL

Book Quantum Communications and Cryptography

Download or read book Quantum Communications and Cryptography written by Alexander V. Sergienko and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All current methods of secure communication such as public-key cryptography can eventually be broken by faster computing. At the interface of physics and computer science lies a powerful solution for secure communications: quantum cryptography. Because eavesdropping changes the physical nature of the information, users in a quantum exchange can easily detect eavesdroppers. This allows for totally secure random key distribution, a central requirement for use of the one-time pad. Since the one-time pad is theoretically proven to be undecipherable, quantum cryptography is the key to perfect secrecy. Quantum Communications and Cryptography is the first comprehensive review of the past, present, and potential developments in this dynamic field. Leading expert contributors from around the world discuss the scientific foundations, experimental and theoretical developments, and cutting-edge technical and engineering advances in quantum communications and cryptography. The book describes the engineering principles and practical implementations in a real-world metropolitan network as well as physical principles and experimental results of such technologies as entanglement swapping and quantum teleportation. It also offers the first detailed treatment of quantum information processing with continuous variables. Technologies include both free-space and fiber-based communications systems along with the necessary protocols and information processing approaches. Bridging the gap between physics and engineering, Quantum Communications and Cryptography supplies a springboard for further developments and breakthroughs in this rapidly growing area.

Book excerpt: In the late 1950s, like tens of thousands of young men of his generation, Pierre Bourdieu, having recently passed the agrégation in philosophy, found himself immersed in the Algerian war. Motivated by an impulse that, as he himself says, ‘was civic rather than political’, nothing seemed more important to him than to understand the Algerian situation and provide the elements that would enable others to come to an informed judgement about it. In extremely tough conditions and along with a small group of students, Bourdieu undertook a series of studies across an Algeria that was tightly patrolled by the army, leading him to discover the shocking reality of the resettlement camps and to analyse the mechanisms of destruction of Algerian society of which they were emblematic. To achieve the objectives he had set himself, Bourdieu had to carry out a genuine intellectual conversion, acquiring an ethnographic understanding of Algerian society, learning sociological analysis at a breakneck pace and inventing new instruments - both theoretical and empirical - that would enable him to understand the relations of domination specific to colonialism. These new tools also enabled him to analyse the nature of the crisis that the war had both produced and manifested. This unique volume brings together the first texts written by Bourdieu in the midst of the Algerian conflict, as well as later writings and interviews in which he returns to the topic of Algeria and the decisive role it played in the development of his work.

Book The Social Structures of the Economy

Download or read book The Social Structures of the Economy written by Pierre Bourdieu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-10 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much orthodox economic theory is based on assumptions which are treated as self-evident: supply and demand are regarded as independent entities, the individual is assumed to be a rational agent who knows his interests and how to make decisions corresponding to them, and so on. But one has only to examine an economic transaction closely, as Pierre Bourdieu does here for the buying and selling of houses, to see that these abstract assumptions cannot explain what happens in reality. As Bourdieu shows, the market is constructed by the state, which can decide, for example, whether to promote private housing or collective provision. And the individuals involved in the transaction are immersed in symbolic constructions which constitute, in a strong sense, the value of houses, neighbourhoods and towns. The abstract and illusory nature of the assumptions of orthodox economic theory has been criticised by some economists, but Bourdieu argues that we must go further. Supply, demand, the market and even the buyer and seller are products of a process of social construction, and so-called ‘economic' processes can be adequately described only by calling on sociological methods. Instead of seeing the two disciplines in antagonistic terms, it is time to recognize that sociology and economics are in fact part of a single discipline, the object of which is the analysis of social facts, of which economic transactions are in the end merely one aspect. This brilliant study by the most original sociologist of post-war France will be essential reading for students and scholars of sociology, economics, anthropology and related disciplines.

Book Transforming Qualitative Data

Download or read book Transforming Qualitative Data written by Harry F. Wolcott and published by SAGE. This book was released on 1994-02-18 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Publisher's description: After the glamour of working in the field is over, you now face the daunting challenge of transforming your field notes and interview tapes into a completed study. But where do you start? In Transforming Qualitative Data, Harry F. Wolcott guides you through the process of completing your research study. Beginning with an introductory chapter that presents his views on ethnography, he explores the transformation process by breaking it down into three related activities: description, analysis, and interpretation. To illustrate each point, he critically examines his own work, using nine of his previous studies as illustrations. Then he shows you how to learn--and to teach--qualitative research by applying the three principles outlined in the volume. Written with the usual wit and brilliance shown in Wolcott's work, Transforming Qualitative Data is a major statement on doing research by one of the master ethnographers of our time.

Book Sketch for a Self analysis

Download or read book Sketch for a Self analysis written by Pierre Bourdieu and published by Polity. This book was released on 2007 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past four decades, French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu produced one of the most imaginative and subtle bodies of social theory of the postwar era. When he died in 2002, he was considered to be the most influential sociologist in the world and a thinker on a par with Foucault and Levi-Strauss - a public intellectual as important to his generation as Sartre was to his. Sketch for a Self-Analysis is the ultimate outcome of Bourdieu's lifelong preoccupation with reflexivity. Vehemently not an autobiography, this unique book is instead an application of Bourdieu's theories to his own life and intellectual trajectory; along the way it offers compelling and intimate insights into the most important French intellectuals of the time - including Foucault, Sartre, Aron, Althusser, and de Beauvoir - as well as Bourdieu's own formative experiences at boarding school and his moral outrage at the colonial war in Algeria.

Book The Science of Passionate Interests

Download or read book The Science of Passionate Interests written by Bruno Latour and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can economics become genuinely quantitative? This is the question that French sociologist Gabriel Tarde tackled at the end of his career, and in this pamphlet, Bruno Latour and Vincent Antonin Lépinay offer a lively introduction to the work of the forgotten genius of nineteenth-century social thought. Tarde's solution was in total contradiction to the dominant views of his time: to quantify the connections between people and goods, you need to grasp "passionate interests." In Tarde's view, capitalism is not a system of cold calculations--rather it is a constant amplification in the intensity and reach of passions. In a stunning anticipation of contemporary economic anthropology, Tarde's work defines an alternative path beyond the two illusions responsible for so much modern misery: the adepts of the Invisible Hand and the devotees of the Visible Hand will learn how to escape the sterility of their fight and recognize the originality of a thinker for whom everything is intersubjective, hence quantifiable. At a time when the regulation of financial markets is the subject of heated debate, Latour and Lépinay provide a valuable historical perspective on the fundamental nature of capitalism.
