Le traitement des escarres est essentiellement axé sur l'utilisation de pansements de plus en plus innovants aujourd'hui. Il faudra aussi considérer la personne âgée dans sa globalité et lutter contre les complications possibles de l'escarre. La meilleure approche thérapeutique de l'escarre reste sa prévention. Le pharmacien d'officine doit doit alors jouer pleinement sa carte de conseiller privilégié. Il doit connaître en autre la gamme de matériel à proposer pour le maintien de la qualité de vie des personnes âgées à domicile.

Le rôle du pharmacien vis-à-vis du patient et de son entourage confronté à cette pathologie souvent lourde et invalidante.
