Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In God's House! Beautiful! Let's Go!, Jane Ann Derr has told us more than we have a right to ask. She has let us into the world of her marriage, her family, her work, her loss, her fears, and her happiness. She has let us into her faith in God and her devotion to Jesus Christ. She has let us into her husband's illness and death, and into the grief and resolve of her life as the one who survived. But her real interest is what she has seen of the goodness and mercy of God." -Stephen E. Broyles, author of The Wind that Destroys and Heals. "I highly recommend this book, especially for those who are called upon to pass through this valley of shadows." -Neil R. Lightfoot, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, Abilene Christian University "For Harold and Jane Ann, the journey has been exceedingly fruitful. I predict that as you read this book, you will cry, you will laugh, and you will be encouraged. At least, that's what happened when I read it." -Gary Chapman, author of The Five Love Languages and Love as a Way of Life. Book STORIES FROM THE TRAIL

Download or read book STORIES FROM THE TRAIL written by Cliff Hargrove and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-01-24 with total page 547 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I spent some years in my early Christian life struggling. Those early years were anything but wonderful. I knew I needed to read through the Bible and have an early-morning quiet time. I just couldn't connect the dots between what the Bible said and what was happening in my real life. What I needed was a story (devotional) that would relate to my life and also point to the truth I was reading in the Bible. I noticed I had more joy reading the Bible when I was reading those daily scriptures along with a short story that helped the scriptures "come alive," so to speak. You may find some of my stories outside the mainstream of "church thought." However, they will bring you into the life of another person and hopefully help you connect the story with the truth of scripture. I pray some of them will help you find God in your life's situations and circumstances. If one story touches one person, I'll consider that a success.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experience True Liberation by Seeing Your Beauty, Femininity, and Freedom From Heavens Point of View Has Christianity kept women trapped in the stone age? In many ways, yes; but this is not by Gods design. As society offers women opportunities to explore outer-space and govern nations, the church often stifles and limits them. The tide is changing, though. Amber Picotas Gods Feminist Movement is a new covenant manifesto calling women to embrace their true identity in Christ and fulfill their destiny as revolutionaries who shape the course of history with the Kingdom of God. There is a powerful new feminist movement emerging in the body of Christ. Its not politically driven and its not being championed by an uprising of angry man-haters. Based on an intense study of Scripture, factoring in historical and contextual hermeneutics and original languages, Picota shares a practical, non-legalistic, and non-traditional (yet deeply Biblical) look at topics that women commonly face, such as: Dating and Modesty Female Leaders in the Church Submission in Marriage Beauty and Self-Image Celebrate the power and beauty of womanhood. God has given you permission to change the worldby being you! Break off religious traditions that keep women trapped in old school legalism and move beyond Christian clichs that minimize a womans true position in Christ!

Book God in 3D

  • Author : Colin Green
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2019-12-11
  • ISBN : 1532681216
  • Pages : 270 pages

Download or read book God in 3D written by Colin Green and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-12-11 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This groundbreaking book sets out fresh arguments that common views on the doctrine of the Trinity are mistaken, on three counts. One, the idea of the Trinity can’t be found explicitly in Scripture. Two, it is a mystery irrational to the human mind. Three, the classical creeds of the church are the best place to start. These old ideas break down in light of recent research in biblical studies. Writing in plain English, the author sets out where the Trinity can be found in Hebrew and Christian Scripture; that it is rational and understandable; and that there are biblical ways of understanding it that are easier to get across than the classical creeds. This book offers what many interested in teaching or learning about the Trinity have lacked up to now. And it will be a great help to those who are unsure how to communicate the idea of the Trinity in ways that the nonspecialist can understand. For the scholar interested in biblical and early-church studies, recent insights from temple theology and name theology produce a fresh perspective that will stimulate further discussion on this important subject. In the temple of God, we find the triune God.

Book Woman God Made You a Queen for Life

Download or read book Woman God Made You a Queen for Life written by Eric F. Ricks and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Bishop T. D. Jake's excellent book "Woman, Thou Are Loose!" emancipates women, so "Woman, God Made You a Queen for Life" elevates women to queenhood. This book was born from a series of messages that Pastor Ricks' taught in 2006. It is based on Genesis chapters one and two. Two remarkable themes throughout the book are: one, the bilateral essence of women and its implications, and two, the dual purpose for the umbilical cord. It is not only for women but also for men. Men will find it helpful in gaining a better understanding of the women in their lives. Many will identify with the candid testimonies. They will make some laugh, some cry, some feel guilty, and some may become angry. My prayer is for each reader to find help and healing, to acquire new skills, in order to be an over comer in God's kingdom. May you glorify God for whatever is accomplished through this book. AMEN! _________________ Pastor Eric F. Ricks is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1972, Minister Ricks started the Deliverance Evangelistic Church of Burlington, New Jersey, (known as Faith Deliverance Worship Center, Inc.). To date, he has been pastoring for 38 years. He has been happily married to his queen, Minister Vernell Ricks since 1962. One of his life's declarations is Proverbs 3:5-7, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil." _________________

Book excerpt: Bear! Ken whispered the word as he stopped hiking. Ken and I were on the Foothills Trail and a mother bear with three cubs was thirty feet in front of us. We stood motionless, frozen in fear. What should we do? Of course we prepared for every scenario and had read hiking manuals about what to do, but here we were facing a real mother bear. She noticed us and then barked a few times as she bounced up and down ever so slightly. Yes, bears can make a barking noise. We stood quietly and hoped prayerfully and expectantly that she would not charge. Finally, she slowly walked into the mountain laurel. We had encountered a mother bear and come away unharmed. Those few minutes seemed like forever and the fear had drained us. It took several minutes for us to move forward, but we did. This marked our memories and we tell it from time to time for humor and to remember the hike. As we told this story and more men joined our hikes other amazing events happened. Over the course of eighteen years there was the shattering water bottle, the miraculous and mesmerizing night with fireflies, the fall over rocks, the slide down a huge boulder, the persistent and annoying skunk, the embarrassing underwear and the turkey surprise to name a few. We enjoyed the stories so much that I wrote them down and realized each had a truth embedded. The events are contained in six chapters that convey formative categories of the Christian life. They are Christian Beginnings, Community, Growth, Responsibility, Living, and Christian Celebration. The bear encounter illustrates a biblical truth about dealing with fear. Our first day atop Springer Mountain my water bottle shattered into pieces. I was sprayed with water. This story serves as an analogy to the waters of baptism and the beginning of our faith journey. The other twenty eight stories convey various essential teachings. One illustrates faith as a gift, another the power of leadership. There is the story of temptation, the story of healing, one o

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millennials, born in the 1980s and 1990s, are often described as an inexplicable enigma by the media and come across to some as a frustrating cadre of narcissists. Though likely to check the “None” box when asked about religion, millennials have entered into adulthood with a great deal of thought devoted to God, faith, and organized religion. Many also crave spiritual richness and inclusive community and are willing to move heaven and earth to find a place—online or in real life—to feel at home, much like the pioneers who set out on the original Oregon Trail. In this book, the iconic Oregon Trail computer game from MECC—highly influential for millennials born in the decade of the 1980s, for many of whom it became an absorbing pursuit, is used as a template throughout to illustrate the journey of faith in which they, “the Oregon Trail generation,” now find themselves engaged as adults. While books have been written about ministering to millennial Christians, the perspective of Eric Atcheson, a millennial pastor whose life story spans the gamut of the historic Oregon Trail, offers a fresh take on an oft-written-about concern for the wider church.

Book I AM

  • Author : Mark Glouberman

  • Pages : 261 pages

Download or read book I AM written by Mark Glouberman and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2019-02-07 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For whom was the Hebrew Bible written? How much truth does it contain? What, according to the Bible, is the place of men and women in the world? What connection is there between the Bible and morality? In "I AM" Mark Glouberman supplies new answers to these old questions. He does this by establishing that the foundational scripture of the West is, first and foremost, a philosophical document, not a theological tract, nor yet the religious history of a nation. The author identifies the Bible’s fundamental principle, the ontological principle of particularity. This principle, he shows, is what makes the Bible the revolutionary text that it is. God’s "I AM WHO I AM" asserts the principle, of which the Bible’s deity is a personified form. God’s self-identification also points to the real, anthropological, meaning of the ism called "monotheism." A portion of Glouberman’s book is devoted to illustrating the Bible’s live relevance in many of the areas where modern philosophers congregate, including moral philosophy, political philosophy, metaphysics, and epistemology. Isn’t it a bit late in the day for the Bible’s meaning to be revealed? Glouberman says that it’s about time.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The relationship between God and Jesus is the means and the model for God’s renewal of humanity. Jesus is the “firstborn” of God’s future human society, but he will not be the last. God’s purpose is to have a family made up of the completed and glorified humans we were always meant to become. What an exciting future God is planning for us! Human potential in the hands of God exceeds our wildest imagination. Although Jesus’s roles and titles are often seen as separating him from the rest of us humans, they actually embed him deeply in our humanity. Jesus was, is, and always will be one of us. Becoming completed humans like Jesus is a road we are called to travel, as we learn to increasingly depend upon God’s promise to provide the gifts of forgiveness and empowerment. Let’s take the journey together with our brother who is “the Son of God” and “the Son of Man (Humanity).”
