Book New perspectives in Audiovisual Translation

Download or read book New perspectives in Audiovisual Translation written by Laura Mejías Climent and published by Universitat de València. This book was released on 2022-03-01 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to contribute to the dissemination of current research carried out by young scholars who are starting to build promising careers in the field of audiovisual translation. Although it is by no means an exhaustive collection of state-of-the-art approaches to AVT, this publication offers a carefully chosen list of research perspectives that are worth exploring in the current technologised landscape that this area of translation has become. Therefore, it represents a select yet judicious group of studies, with the added strength that the contributions presented here are not limited to academic circles, but rather offer different points of view from various angles, given the diverse profiles that characterizes the authors. Thus, each chapter deals with the subject of AVT from an academic, educational or professional perspective. As diverse as their approaches are, all the young authors who have collaborated to create this volume offer enriching perspectives that reflect the potential that AVT still has today and the prospective studies that are worth undertaking to continue enriching the field of AVT.

Book The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Sexuality

Download or read book The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Sexuality written by Brian James Baer and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-08-19 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Sexuality questions what it would mean to think of sexualities transnationally and explores the way cultural ideas about sex and sexuality are translated across languages. It considers how scholars chart the multilingual rise of the modern sexual sciences in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, how translators, writers, and readers respond to sexual modernities and to what extent the keywords of queer social movements travel across borders. The handbook draws from fields as diverse as translation studies, critical multilingualism studies, comparative literature, European studies, Slavic studies, Middle Eastern studies, Latin American studies, and East Asian studies. This pioneering handbook maps out an emerging brand of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies that approaches sexualities as translational formations. Divided into two parts, the handbook covers: - Theoretical chapters on the interdisciplinary dialogue between translation studies and queer studies - Empirical studies of both canonic and minor scientific, religious, literary, philosophical, and political texts about sex and sexuality in translation across a variety of world languages. With 20 chapters written by leading academics from around the world, The Routledge Handbook of Translation and Sexuality will serve as an important reference for students and scholars in the fields of translation studies, applied linguistics, modern languages, and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies.

Book excerpt: What is human sexuality? As the source of life why is it also often the cause of so much suffering? The renowned psychotherapist Professor Dr. Franz Ruppert shows in this book how sexual traumas form, from the perspective of the victim and the perpetrator, with profound consequences for individuals, families and entire societies. With his development of Identity-Oriented Psychotrauma Therapy (IOPT) it becomes possible to raise awareness of sexual psychotrauma using The Intention Method, and to resolve it psychologically and emotionally. Sexuality can then again be experienced as a creative force that gives pleasure and helps to achieve a healthy identity.

Book La identidad en autores translinguados

Download or read book La identidad en autores translinguados written by Patricia Rojo Lemos and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Spanish Literature

Download or read book Spanish Literature written by David William Foster and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2001 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gathered to meet the rising upsurge of interest in Spain, this collection features major critical articles dealing with the authors and texts customarily taught in colleges and universities in the United States. The articles are in English and Spanish, with a predominance of the former. The material is organized to reflect the common chronological and period divisions of the academic curriculum, and is clustered around major literary figures, with a mix of general articles on the writers and texts that are most commonly included in anthologies. Spanish literature and culture have attracted a renewed interest since the return to constitutional democracy in the mid-1970s and the growing participation of Spain in the world economy and its incorporation into the European common market. Spanish literature balances a participation in the major literary movements of European literature in general with unique features of Hispanic culture that are a consequence of the special circumstances of its geography, especially the ways in which it historically served as a conduit to Europe of Arabic and Jewish cultures. Figures of international acclaim like Federico Garc'a Lorca, Miguel de Unamuno, and Jose Ortega y Gasset, Nobel prizewinners like Vicente Aleixandre and Camilo Jose Cela, the universality of Miguel de Cervantes, without whom the modern novel would not have been possible, the uniqueness of the Hispanic ballad tradition, mystic poets like San Juan de la Cruz and Santa Teresa Jesus, and the picaresque tradition are some of the major reference points for the singularity of Spanish literary culture. All of this literary activity has inspired innumerable dissertations, theses, and books, published by academic and trade presses, as well as articles in journals traditionally devoted to literary history and philosophy, along with new specialized journals and the organization of national and international congresses on national and cultural issues, writers, and schools of writing. These three volumesselect the most seminal works on Spanish literature and collect them in one place for scholars and students alike. This three volume collection of reprinted articles is also available as individual volumes priced at $80.00/Y [Can. $120.00/Y]: * Volume 1.Theoretical Debates0815335636 Volume 2.From Origins to the 18th Century0815335644 Volume 3.The Modern Period0185335652
