Book Tracking System for Photon counting Laser Radar

Download or read book Tracking System for Photon counting Laser Radar written by Joshua TsuKang Chang and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this thesis is to build the tracking system for a photon-counting laser radar specifically a laser radar that has the ability to perform direct and coherent detection measurement at low signal levels with common laser, optics and detector hardware. The heart of the tracking algorithm is a Kalman filter, and optimal Kalman filter parameters are determined using software simulations. The tracking algorithm was tested against various simulated (software only) and emulated (with actual hardware) trajectories. We also built and tested the real-time tracking system hardware. The algorithms and methods proposed in this thesis achieve the objective of tracking a target at 1,500 km range to within 1-cm accuracy.

Book A Proposed Versatile Photon Counter System for Laser Radar

Download or read book A Proposed Versatile Photon Counter System for Laser Radar written by Gerald T. Wade and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: GE ARRAY OF COUNTERS NORMALLY ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH A SYSTEM AND A MINICOMPUTER TO HANDLE DATA MANIPULATION AND DISPLAY. The speed and versatility make the system a reasonable alternative to systems presently in use. System features include a 250 MHz photon counting rate, 100 nanosecond minimum sample interval, up to 512 channel data accumulation with sub-nanosecond switching times between channels, and a maximum laser transmitter repetition rate of 10 KHz. This system offers several advantages over presently available systems, such as allowing the higher laser repetition rates needed to monitor a rapidly fluctuating atmosphere without sacrificing spatial resolution or the total number of data channels, and enabling real-time modification of the system operating parameters as a function of incoming data. This paper describes the parameters influencing the design of such a system. (Author).

Book Laser Radar Systems

Download or read book Laser Radar Systems written by Albert V. Jelalian and published by Artech House Publishers. This book was released on 1992 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book develops the principles and practice of laser radar system design by examining sensor technology across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. This new book discusses the similarities and differences between microwave and optics technologies. It combines a microwave radar system treatment of the range equation, target cross-section and measurement principles with an optical receiver discussion which illustrates differences in system noise mechanizations. The presentation also includes theoretical and hardware considerations which illustrates systems utilized to provide altimetry, rangefinding, target designation and imaging, as well as laser radar systems providing instantaneous six-dimensional target information.

Book Sea Ice Analysis and Forecasting

Download or read book Sea Ice Analysis and Forecasting written by Tom Carrieres and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an advanced introduction to the science behind automated prediction systems, focusing on sea ice analysis and forecasting. Starting from basic principles, fundamental concepts in sea ice physics, remote sensing, numerical methods, and statistics are explained at an accessible level. Existing operational automated prediction systems are described and their impacts on information providers and end clients are discussed. The book also provides insight into the likely future development of sea ice services and how they will evolve from mainly manual processes to increasing automation, with a consequent increase in the diversity and information content of new ice products. With contributions from world-leading experts in the fields of sea ice remote sensing, data assimilation, numerical modelling, and verification and operational prediction, this comprehensive reference is ideal for students, sea ice analysts, and researchers, as well as decision-makers and professionals working in the ice service industry.

Book Satellite Altimetry Over Oceans and Land Surfaces

Download or read book Satellite Altimetry Over Oceans and Land Surfaces written by Detlef Stammer and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 954 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Satellite remote sensing, in particular by radar altimetry, is a crucial technique for observations of the ocean surface and of many aspects of land surfaces, and of paramount importance for climate and environmental studies. This book provides a state-of-the-art overview of the satellite altimetry techniques and related missions, and reviews the most-up-to date applications to ocean dynamics and sea level.
